Christina Applegate is the
"it" girl right now in television. When casting directors look for sitcom stars, she's always at the top of their list.
Well, Christina finally found something she likes. She has signed on to star in an ABC comedy pilot called
Sam I Am, where she'll play an amnesia victim who has to rediscover her life. It's the first starring television role for Applegate since the late '90s. Of course, she was the legendary Kelly Bundy on
Married, With Children, from 1987-1997. Since then she starred in 1998's short-lived
Jesse, and won an Emmy for a guest-starring role on
Friends. Otherwise, she's stuck to movies for the last ten years.
Jean Smart, formerly of
Designing Women and
24, has also taken a role in the comedy, and Jennifer Esposito will co-star as Applegate's best friend.
I don't think I've ever anticipated an American
Idol theme night more than this. Like many of you, I typically hate the theme nights. It feels like someone
stole the song selection book at a karaoke bar, and left only one page for drunken patrons to choose from. But I was
excited for tonight --simply because I thought it would suck. I thought it would be a disastrous mess of awkward and
uncomfortable song choices and bad Freddie Mercury impressions. And, I was absolutely convinced that Taylor Hicks would
wear a fake moustache (a semi-gray fake moustache, of course). But tonight was pretty good. It was entertaining to say
the least.
Don't get me wrong. At times, it sucked. But more trying to drink a McDonald's thick shake
through a straw suck, than Dyson vacuum suck. There was something very triumphantly sucky about tonight and I loved it.
