How many reality shows featuring beautiful people going to parties and arguing do we need? How many does Bravo need? I really hate the direction that the cable channel has gone in the past several years. An endless supply of
Real Housewives shows,
NYC Prep,
America's Next Top Model,
The Fashion Show,
Flipping Out,
Make Me A Supermodel,
Millionaire Matchmaker,
Tabatha's Salon Takeover ... make it stop!
Having said that, did you watch
Miami Social? And if so ... why?

American Idol's loopiest and loveliest judge, Paula Abdul, will be hosting a star-studded benefit concert for the organization
In Defense of Animals on Saturday, February 17. The event, which will raise money for animals affected by Hurricane Katrina, is scheduled to take place at Historic Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California.
Tickets for the event cost $275 per person. The $1000 "Dinner Package" includes two VIP concert tickets, seating, and VIP Sponsor Celebrity Reception. A list of participating artists can be found
here.
If I wasn't 3000 miles away (and if had a butt-load of extra cash lying around), I'd probably check out this event, because A) I do love animals, and B) I really would like to see Paula Abdul live and in person. I'm just as curious as a cat to see how Paula behaves in public, away from the swirling confusion brought on by the taunts of her co-judges, and other
"technical difficulties."Posted Jan 24th 2007 1:41PM by Anna Johns

Fox gave the green light to a pilot about cops living and working in post-Katrina New Orleans. It's one of four Katrina-related projects that were being pitched to networks for the next television season, but it's the only one that is moving forward.
K-Ville is an hour-long drama that tells the stories of the police officers who stayed behind when the hurricane hit.
Other New Orleans-themed shows include two more cop shows based in the city that ABC passed on, and one called
NoLa that NBC passed on even with the possibility that Spike Lee would direct the pilot. It's surprising, really, that
K-Ville made the cut because the crisis in New Orleans continues. If nothing else, maybe it will renew the public's interest in that very damaged city.

"
Foley Erect" (unsurprisingly, that garnered a lot of groans from the audience): Mark Foley's a sick, sick bastard and the media had no trouble thinking up ways to make him seem like a sick, sick,
sick bastard. That one-handed typing business was pretty gross. Ugh. I probably would have laughed a little harder at the "Nudge, Nudge" clip (actually, I was wearing my Monty Python t-shirt while watching
TDS... yes, I have a Monty Python shirt) if I hadn't been twisting uncomfortably in my seat. Ughh. Foley. Gross. I even made the mistake of reading his
instant messaging conversation, out of sheer morbid curiosity. Stupid thing to do. Kind of wanted to throw up afterward.

Finally, a non-celeb takes down the celebs on
Celebrity Poker Showdown.
Ida Siconolfi, who won the Bravo online tournament to get a seat in last night's show, played a fantastic game to beat Fred Savage, Jennifer Tilly, Doug E. Doug, and Brett Butler, and will now go on to the championship match later this season.
When I heard that Bravo was going to pick a regular viewer to get a seat on
Celebrity Poker Showdown, I thought it would be some online gaming geek or some really obnoxious person who would try to outdo the celebs when it came to over the top humor. Not so. Ida proved to be classy, quiet, and one of the top players that has ever been on the show.
I might even have to root for her in the championship game.

Hell must've frozen over for some people last night when
South Park was given its first Peabody award.
The Daily Show host, and former Peabody winner, Jon Stewart played emcee at the University of Georgia event in New York. When introducing Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of
South Park, Stewart complimented them on their "ability to keep the show fresh and hilarious" after 10 seasons. Parker and Stone reportedly kept their acceptance speeches brief. Parker swore when talking about artistic responsibilities and Stone professed his love for fellow winner,
Battlestar Galactica.
The University of Georgia gives out the awards for "distinguished acheivement and meritorious service". Also winning Peabodys were
The Shield,
Boston Legal, and NBC News for its Hurricane Katrina coverage (Brian Williams personally accepted).

Jon's back on from his
Oscars gig. Oh, Jon, how we've missed
thee. After putting down his Hollywood sunglasses, cellphone, and Blackberry, Jon talked about the
mixed
reviews over his performance ("I sucked... and was great!"). He's usually pretty hard on himself (I
remember him uttering, "I am a loser" after one of his jokes during the Oscars) so it was good to hear
that Jon said that he had a great time. Audience may or may not have enjoyed his performance as host... it all
depended on which cutaways you saw (Jamie Foxx laughed it up, Joaquin Phoenix offered nothing but cold stares). Well,
for what it's worth, I thought Jon did a fantastic job with what he had. I really loved the "attack ads" that
Stephen Colbert voiced. Jon even showed another attack ad that they pulled at the last minute about monkeys in the biz,
out of fear of an uprising resulting in a
Planet of the Apes world. It's practical thinking.

Did you enjoy the American Idol auditions last night, from Austin, Texas? Here's some
odd news for you:
They
weren't filmed in Austin, Texas!
That's right. Seacrest did his intros, etc from Austin, but actual audtions
took place in San Francisco, because Hurricane Katrina/Rita evacuees were in Austin at the time. So they flew
the contestants to San Francisco and had them audition for the judges there.
Now, this isn't a big deal,
but why not say it during the telecast?
