What You Missed Last Night: Paul Shaffer on Jimmy Kimmel Live

It's not a regular thing to see late night hosts appear on other late night shows. But I think it was great that The Late Show with David Letterman's Paul Shaffer was given the okay to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live to not only plug his new book but also play with the band. I can't imagine Kevin Eubanks coming over to The Late Show and doing the same.

He also talked about his love for Las Vegas and Jerry Lewis. They don't do the split screen right though. Shouldn't they be looking straight ahead instead of at each other?

Introducing the Miley Cyrus Commemorative Tweet Plate Collection

If you didn't hear the tragic news that was announced last week, here it is: Miley Cyrus has quit Twitter.

But don't be too sad. In this video from Jimmy Kimmel Live, another celebrity introduces the Franklin Mint's Miley Cyrus Commemorative Tweet Plates, a series of collectible plates that have Miley's tweets engraved in them for posterity. The sad thing is that I'm sure that there are fans who would buy these if they really existed.

Is Kimmel pulling a Letterman?

Jimmy KimmelIt's official, "pulling a Letterman" means sleeping with a co-worker. Why? Because I said so.

It seems that ABC's late night host Jimmy Kimmel has been in a relationship with a member of his staff as well. This time, the host has been dating the show's head writer Molly McNeary for "several months."

This forced Fox News to pose the question if Kimmel is "pulling a Letterman" and ask if he should be forced to apologize on the air to Ben Affleck. That normally would be hilarious if Fox News didn't handle all of their news with the same level of integrity and tact.

And yes, I'm jealous they came up with that line first.

What You Missed Last Night: Dancing with the Dead

As we mentioned earlier, Tom DeLay was knocked out of Dancing with the Stars last night with injuries to his feet. He's not the first person to have to leave the show after getting hurt, and now it has all been turned into a horror movie. Warning: contains scenes of shoes in eyes.

What You Missed Last Night: Kathy Griffin as Kate Gosselin

Kathy Griffin was on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to promote her new book Official Book Club Selection. You can see the whole interview on YouTube or on ABC's site, but the highlight was a clip from her new biopic where she plays reality show star Kate Gosselin.

Wait until you see who plays husband Jon. Oh my.

What You Missed Last Night: Kathie Lee's pool noodle justice

So Kathie Lee never answered my e-mail reply to her question about me, but she did go crazy on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night. She surprised the show's staff with a pool noodle (if you're like me, you had no idea what a pool noodle was until this video).

Jimmy Kimmel finds his new BFF

Everyone needs a best friend, even millionaire heiresses who make sex tapes. Late night talk show hosts need them too, as these clips from last night's Jimmy Kimmel Lve. Kimmel went on the streets of L.A. to find contestants for his new reality show. (Conclusion after the jump.)

Jimmy Kimmel explains how Billy Mays keeps doing commercials

Yes, Jimmy Kimmel went there.

I was wondering when someone would do some sort of parody related to the death of Billy Mays, and it's Jimmy Kimmel Live. There have been jokes here and there, including some by Kimmel himself, but this is the first all-out segment I've seen. Over the line? Judge for yourself.

Introducing The Lard Channel

I thought we already had a Lard Channel, only it's called Food Network.

This clip is from Jimmy Kimmel Live. It's the Lard Channel, where all of the programming is based around fat people, who seem to be all the rage these days. Before he is crucified for dumping on people who are overweight, please note that ending of the clip.

Remember the good times we had with (at) Michael Jackson('s expense)?

South Park poking fun of Michael Jackson
A lot of memories have surfaced of the good times that pop icon and musical genius Michael Jackson provided the world in the wake of his untimely and unfortunate death. However, an elephant in the room has wedged its wide butt in between the happy memories that range from "Billy Jean" to "Rockin' Robin," other than the eye-bleedingly bad Moonwalker movie.

Jackson's life outside of the recording studio and in the blood-soaked pages of the supermarket tabloids provided a lot of fodder for comedies and comedians that turned the man into a punchline just as fast as the radio waves turned him into a legend.

A very special promo for HBO's Hung

Every single review that has been written for the new drama Hung (and will ever be written) will use a joke/pun concerning the title of the show. I refuse to do that. I have a good head on my shoulders. It might be hard to do, but I think if I refrain from bad jokes I won't get the shaft from readers.

Jimmy Kimmel Live went literal with this promo for the new show. It brings back a certain celebrity we had all forgotten about...

You knew someone would joke about Jackson's death (and you kinda knew it would be Kimmel)

I was on Twitter all night last night, and there were actually a lot of Michael Jackson jokes mixed in with the tributes and the breaking news tweets. I was wondering if the late night talk shows would either talk about Jackson passing away or if they'd make a joke about it or both. I especially wondered about Jimmy Kimmel, because he has not only made a ton of jokes about Jackson in the past (as they all did), but he actually had correspondent Jake go out to events like the Jackson trial and act like a nut. Here's Kimmel's monologue from last night.

We need more commercials for breast-supporting devices

I saw this on Jimmy Kimmel Live and went online to see if it was real. It looks like an SNL parody (though so did that toilet paper stick, and that was real), but it does indeed exist. Here's the web site.

Women, would you use something like this?

Kathy Griffin sets Jimmy Kimmel straight about Paris Hilton's lasagna

That's not a euphemism and I'm not being cute. Paris Hilton actually made lasagna for Jimmy Kimmel after a recent appearance on his show. Well, supposedly. Kathy Griffin isn't buying it. She explains to Jimmy what she thinks actually happened.

Could Nightline move to 10 PM to battle Leno?

NightlineAccording to James Poniewozik, this isn't a done deal or even close to being a done deal, but it is certainly one of the moves that ABC is thinking about: Nightline might move to 10 PM from it's current 11:35 slot.

It would certainly be a lot cheaper than running dramas (which are usually the scripted shows the networks have at 10PM), and it could signal a change in the way that networks schedule their shows. This would also mean (in all likelihood) that Jimmy Kimmel Live would move into the 11:35 slot.
