The new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace, opens in theaters tomorrow. And tonight, Jimmy Kimmel will welcome stars Daniel Craig and Olga Kurylenko to his talk show. Kimmel is going to open the show with a spoof of 007, with himself as the secret agent. After the jump is a sneak peek at the scene.
Kimmel does all of the usual Bondian things in the clip, including bedding a beautiful woman, dodging assassins, skiing, and also flying away to escape the bad guys. It's not on a jet pack though, it's via a bottle of soda. In fact, the entire skit seems to be sponsored by Coca-Cola. No shaken or stirred martinis for this spy.
Uncle Frank, Veatrice, and Guillermo also make appearances in the short film, of course. This isn't the first time that Jimmy Kimmel Live has spoofed a big-screen spy. They did a video take-off on the Bourne films too, which even featured a cameo by Matt Damon himself (long before Sarah Silverman was f***ing him).
OK, so we've all heard that Sarah Silverman broke up with Jimmy Kimmel, and then the rumors came out that they had gotten back together recently. But the two hadn't really talked about what was going on, and they hadn't made any public appearances together where they talked about their relationship. Until last night's Jimmy Kimmel Live that is.
Silverman was on the show to promote her Comedy Central show (I guess), but after several awkward moments of talking about lame showbiz stuff ("So how did you get interested in acting?"), they finally address the topic that is on everyone's minds, their breakup. The interview includes a marriage proposal and talk about fat guys on the internet.
The best part of the clip for me is the awesome footage of Silverman singing on the Boston talent show Community Auditions back in 1985. I used to watch that show all the time in the 70s and 80s. After the jump, the interview (in three parts).
I don't know how most of you watched the Emmys, but I watched it in a conference room with my colleagues, working on features for AOL Television's Emmys coverage. It was just like being at an Emmys party -- we even had jambalaya! (OK, there was that whole "work" thing, too.)
But Guillermo on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' -- well, he had the right idea. He took a bottle of tequila to the red carpet and convinced a ton of celebs to do shots with him. Then, if he was still conscious (and after 20 shots, I honestly don't see how), he got the opportunity to watch the Emmys drunk. Hey, that's one way to make the reality-show hosts seem funny.
Check out this clip of Guillermo on the red carpet. It's hysterical (particularly the faces the celebs make after they've done their shot -- that ain't apple juice, folks). Once again, Ricky Gervais proves the funniest man standing by a mile; and I love how Cheryl Hines comes back for seconds. That's my girl.
A funny thing happened at the beginning of the ABC executive session this morning. After ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson got on stage, said some opening remarks, and opened the floor to questions, someone got up and identified himself as Tom Weinerman of the Sarasota Star-Herald Tribune. That was a bit unusual, as the reporters here never identify themselves before asking questions.
But then, people started recognizing the voice, or turned in the direction of the questioner, and realized what was going on: It was Jimmy Kimmel, and he had some pointed -- and funny -- questions for McPherson about the possibility of Jay Leno coming to ABC.
Wow, maybe she really was f***king Matt Damon after all.
America's Sweethearts, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman, have broken up. It's true! A publicist for the couple (hmmm...I wonder who gets the publicist in the breakup?) sent a note to People saying that the couple have split and that "there will be no further comment." Of course, I'm sure they'll be no comment until someone mentions it on Kimmel's ABC show or someone asks Silverman about it in an interview.

You know how people say stuff like "if CBS cancels Moonlight, I'm never watching that stupid network again!"? I think those proclamations are usually silly, but I might be in that group if the following happens: CBS replacing David Letterman with Jay Leno.
That's one of the options listed in this handy Hollywood Reporter guide to what Leno will do after his stint on NBC is over in 2009. The other options are going to ABC at 11:35, going to FOX at 11:35, a syndicated show with Sony, he stays at NBC and does some other primetime show, he takes over for Larry King on CNN, or he goes back to doing standup full-time. Taking over for Letterman would happen if (and when - he could extend his contract) Letterman retires in 2010.
Have you noticed that Jimmy Kimmel Live has slowly but surely become a big force at ABC? It doesn't do Jay Leno numbers, but the ratings have increased in the past few months, the network has given him prime real estate on prime time during the NBA Finals, and there just seems to be a buzz about the show. ABC must have noticed too because they've extended Kimmel's contract through the 2010 season.
This is good news for Kimmel fans, as there has been much talk about what would happen to Kimmel if ABC were to grab Leno after Leno exits his show on NBC and Conan O'Brien takes over. Would Kimmel be pushed to 12:35 if Leno comes aboard, or even later if ABC also decided to keep Nightline? Of course, there's no word on whether or not this new contract guarantees Kimmel the 12:05am slot. Leno leaves his show in 2009.
I hope Kimmel stays around for a long time. I can't get into his musical guests, but he has the best monlogue on late night, in my opinion.
The late night comedian will be appearing during your primetime schedule. Starting tomorrow, Jimmy Kimmel LIve will run special half-hour shows each night that ABC airs the basketball finals. Special guests include: David Beckham, Edward Norton, Charles Barkley, Liv Tyler, Adam Sandler, Eminem, Shaquille O'Neil, Magic Johnson and New Orleans Hornets guard and 2008 MVP contender Chris Paul, among others.
Out of the celebrities mentioned, I'm most interested to see Eminem. I haven't seen the Real Slim Shady on TV in awhile. He's always a good interview though -- all that contrived hostility and testosterone in overdrive. Who are you looking forward to seeing? Or is Kimmel's fabulousness enough to get you to tune in?
Sarah Silverman, the star of The Sarah Silverman Program, is fu*king Jimmy Kimmel, the host of ABC's late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live. At least we assume so, considering they've been dating for years and kidding about their love story in public -- remember her video, "I'm fu*king Matt Damon," which he countered with "I'm fu*king Ben Affleck"? These two are a fun couple and seem to really have it together. However, don't look for Ms. Silverman to ever become Mrs. Kimmel.
Simply stated, Sarah Silverman told People.com that she's vowed to never marry Jimmy Kimmel. Nothing personal, Jimmy, she just likes things exactly as they are and doesn't want to muck it up with rice, flowers, lace, cake, invitations and all the other wedding malarkey.
Clearly, little Sarah never fantasized about her parents walking her down the aisle, standing under the chuppa with her groom, and seeing the man of her dreams shatter a wine glass beneath his foot, all elements of a typical nice Jewish wedding for a nice Jewish girl like Sarah.
It's good to have a talk show host who is also a big TV fan. Most times, a celeb or producer or writer will come on the show and the only thing that the host can talk to them regarding their latest project is something in general terms, maybe an "I saw the movie and it's great" and not much more. Luckily, Jimmy Kimmel is as much a Lost fan as the rest of us.
He had producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse on the show last week and asked them many questions about the show (side note: did you know they both worked on Nash Bridges, which Cuse created?!). But the big question answered had nothing to do with the smoke monster or time travel or the flash forwards or numbers or hatches or Michael Emerson, who was supposed to be on the show for only two episodes at first, or why the smoke monster didn't kill the mercenaries (there's a reason!). Those aren't the important mysteries.

Remember that song, "Everything Old Is New Again"? Well, it's true. In the old days of broadcasting, it was typical for the host of a show to appear during the hour or half-hour doing a live commercial endorsing the sponsor of the program. That old idea is being re-invented and ABC will soon announce that Jimmy Kimmel will be doing live spots on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Call it the ultimate in product integration, if you will, but it's just one more way for advertisers to guard against DVR watchers zapping through the commercials or live viewers clicking to another channel. And if they're smart, they'll make the commercials clever enough to be worth watching. The live ads will launch in May.

Jimmy Kimmel decided to pass the time by poking fun at the show's underwhelming enhanced episodes. Kimmel rewrote one of the enhanced scenes from "The Beginning of the End," in which Hurley and Jack play Horse. His on-screen facts were only slightly more dumbed down than the original text, but were much funnier.

Bill Carter over at the New York Times is reporting that Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel are going to be on each other's shows on Thursday night, January 10. It was Leno who invited Kimmel on the show and Kimmel accepted. I guess since both shows don't have writers they're looking for a way to fill up some time, and to get another late night host as a guest not only accomplishes that it's a great gimmick to get people to tune in too.
