Jim Breuer has a fight ahead of him. The title of his latest special,
Let's Clear the Air (Comedy Central, tonight, 11PM), is a nod to his current place in the public's perception as the stoner from
Half Baked. You can throw in a bit of Goat Boy from
SNL, and you have the cage Breuer has built for himself, the one he's trying to break out of to change his image.
Breuer would like to be known more as a family comic now, and
Let's Clear the Air is his first attempt at that.

After he ended his long run on
Saturday Night Live in 2000, it seemed like Tim Meadows followed the career path most former
SNLers go down; in other words, he faded into the background.
Now it looks like Meadows has come back, but stealthily so. He's been all over TV over the last year or so, but in small supporting or guest roles. For instance, last year, he was in a great episode of
The Office, playing a client that Michael Scott schmoozes over drinks at the local Chili's. He's also has been a few episodes of
Help Me Help You, playing a character named Petey. He also made a reality push this past summer, as a contestant on
Gameshow Marathon and a judge during the early rounds of
Last Comic Standing.

A little bit of late news for you: Jim Breuer is the new host of
Web Junk 20. He actually premiered on Friday, but I'm a little slow this week.
Web Junk 20 is a weekly countdown-type show on VH1 that airs all the biggest viral videos of the week. You may remember Jim Breuer as 'Goat Boy' for four years on
Saturday Night Live. He also has a hilarious comedy special that occasionally airs on Comedy Central, and he's currently hosting the second most popular radio show on Sirius (behind Howard Stern) called
Jim Breuer Unleashed.
Best Week Ever has a
clip of Breuer here. While it's great to see Breuer again, I don't like the show's format where the host interrupts video clips to make remarks that aren't all that funny.

Tired of watching the ball drop on New Year's Eve? Don't
care about Regis, Carson Daly, Dick Clark, or Ryan Seacrest? Feel like laughing? If you're a Comcast customer, you'll
have a pretty good alternative. CN8, the Comcast Network, will be showing a four-hour special called
CN8 Presents: Celebrate '06,
aired live from Orlando. The special will feature musical performances by acts like Styx, The Funk Brothers, and Gloria
Gaynor (hey, it's a cable special; be glad they can get anyone decent), and comedy from Kevin Meaney, Jeff Dunham, and
one of my favorite stand-ups, Jim Breuer.
You folks know Jim Breuer; he played Goat Boy and Joe Pesci, among
other characters, on
Saturday Night Live from 1995-1998. He currently has a fantastic show on Sirius Satellite
radio, as well as a cartoon series in the works. He's also a very nice guy.
