Court TV is now TruTV

gavelWe told you it was going to happen. Court TV has changed its name, and it will no longer answer to "Court TV." From now on when you call you must ask for TruTV, the brand new name that also symbolizes a new direction for the channel when it re-launches with its new sexy look January 1, 2008.

Look, at this point I no longer care about networks sticking to programming that adheres to the name of the network. Cartoon Network is airing live-action stuff, AMC is focusing more on original series and less on movies, and I'm pretty sure Animal Planet is starting to give equal time to series about fruits and vegetables. All I care about is good programming, I don't really care what channel it's on. Hell, one of my favorite new shows, Ice Road Truckers, is on the History Channel. It has nothing to do with history, but I don't care.

M*A*S*H coming to TV Land

mashI think I can say with some certainty that whatever cable or satellite provider you use, you probably have at least one channel that airs episodes of M*A*S*H on a fairly regular basis. Well, if you also have TV Land you'll have even more chances to catch the men and women of the 4077 because episodes of the long-running series will be hitting that channel starting in January. The match makes sense, I guess, because you don't get much more "classic TV" than M*A*S*H, but is there really much of a point when the series is already rather ubiquitous on the TV landscape anyway? It's not as if TV Land has exclusive rights to the episodes. Eh, whatever, when I get that occasional itch to watch M*A*S*H it'll give my TiVo more chances to catch an episode or two.

A couple pieces of Reno 911! news

reno 911Anna reported last January that Reno 911! would be coming to theaters as Reno 911!: Miami. In a recent interview, Thomas Lennon, who plays Dangle on the series, said the movie would be out on Januray 19 of 2007, which isn't terribly far off, so that's good news for all of us Reno fanatics. Lennon says we'll see a lot more skin in the movie than we do on the TV show, and that there's even a lenghty love scene between Dangle and Wiegel. Basically, the movie is going to be much raunchier than the TV show, which just makes me want to see it even more. Also good news: there will be a fifth season of the series.
