MTV, a network that can no longer claim to be the "music authority," and Rolling Stone, a magazine that lost its counterculture credibility when Hunter S. Thompson and Lester Bangs pulled up stakes over twenty years ago, have teamed up for a reality series - I'm with Rolling Stone - that follows six young writers vying for a full-time contributing editor slot at the magazine.

The series, which TV Squad reported on earlier this year, will make its debut on January 7th at 10PM for a ten-episode run. The six contestants were chosen from a pool of several thousand applicants. They spent this past summer fielding writing assignments from Rolling Stone's editors - including artist profiles, political coverage and event reviews. Some of the artists that turn up in the series include Ghostface Killah, We Are Scientists, The Roots and Band or Horses.

Baton Rouge-based indie rock band Bones was in for a scary surprise when they went to check their MySpace page only to find the face of David Boreanaz, star of the televised series Bones, staring back at them. All 2,000 of the band Bones' friends, blog postings and MP3s had disappeared into the ether care of the Fox network.

Fox, which is owned by the same parent company that owns MySpace, struck a deal which allowed them to take over any page in the MySpace system that they felt was capitalizing on their intellectual property. You know, like, the word "bones." Once news of the URL takeover went public, everyone's friend Tom gave the band back its MySpace page saying, "I heard about what happened with your URL. I gave it back to ya...Sorry about that! As we grow in size, sometimes people make decisions I don't know about. This was obviously the wrong decision. The Bones URL is yours once again."

If you're band is named House or Prison Break, I'd check your MySpace page real quick.

Mr. Manager Michael Cera has been busy since Arrested Development wrapped. There's the stand-up act, but far more interesting and sorta sweet, is Cera's indie rocking persona with The Long Goodbye. The three man-boy group features Cera on guitar and taking an occasional turn at the mic. Among its influences, the group lists Weezer, Brian Wilson, Sufjan Stevens and The Decemberists. They've got a touch of Mountain Goats and M. Ward in there, too. And, surprise, they don't suck.
