What You Missed Last Night: Jon and Blago

It must be odd for someone who has been ridiculed and talked about so much on a talk show to then be on that talk show as a guest. Whether you're Bill Clinton on The Late Show with David Letterman or Rod Blagojevich on The Daily Show last night, it must be weird for both the guest and the host.

In this clip (which Jon Stewart gives a special introduction to because the interview went long and got weird), Jon and Blago talk about a range of issues, starting with his hair. (Unedited interview here.)

Tracy Morgan's real-life WGN interview to be shown on 30 Rock - VIDEO

Tracy MorganTracy Morgan's real-life antics have been well-documented and have even made it onto 30 Rock itself. At one point, Tracy Jordan was wearing a ankle monitoring bracelet just like Morgan had to. Now another real-life episode is going to make it onto a 30 Rock episode, and this time there's video.

In 2007, Morgan appeared on WGN to not only plug his show but also a stand-up performance he was going to be doing in Illinois. I have no idea if he was buzzed or if he was...well, just Tracy being Tracy, but it's funny. The clip is going to be shown on the April 23 episode of the NBC show. They probably won't show the whole thing but it will be edited to fit into what I'm sure will be a crazy plot involving Tracy Jordan.

Please note that at one point, Morgan crawls up on the anchor desk in front of the news team, lifts up his shirt and makes his stomach go up and down.

The chair recognizes Senator Winfrey of Illinois

OprahGovernor Blagojevich is nuts. Blame it on his flimsy grasp of reality or his hard-hat like haircut, the current (for how long, who knows) governor of Illinois is not quite there. How do we know this? Well, rather than appearing at his own impeachment trial he's decided to let the good citizens of the U.S. know that he's being railroaded by his own government via various media outlets.

The other determining factor on his nuttiness...he was considering naming Oprah Winfrey as Barack Obama's replacement to the U.S. Senate. Now, while Oprah is a respectable personality who has done much good for people around the globe, she is in no way qualified to become a U.S. Senator. I know that some of you Oprahites would heartily disagree with this, but even you know, deep down inside, that giving Oprah a Senate seat would not be a good idea.

And, frankly, I think Oprah would agree with you.

ID thieves targeting Oprah's fans

oprah winfreyAccording to this article in USA Today, identity thieves are offering people tickets to Oprah via e-mail. The unsolicited e-mails ask for people's personal information and claim they need to verify financial information in order to send the tickets through the mail. The problem is: there are no tickets for Oprah's show. Harpo Studios just takes reservations (months in advance) and it's free to view tapings. Harpo turned over the fake e-mails to the authorities and now the Illinois state Attorney General is investigating the scam. So far there aren't any known victims but once this news gets out, that could change. I can see it now: Oprah does a 'Favorite Things' episode for all the people who were scammed!

Bernie Mac hits the jackpot

bernie macChicago native Bernie Mac will be appearing in ads for the Illinois State Lottery. His paycheck for the two and a half days of work it took to create the ads? $500,000. If that amount seems a bit excessive to you, you're not alone. Some state officials feel it's way too much and that the money could be better spent elsewhere. Lottery officials disagree, however, citing Mac's appearance in lottery ads in 2004 for which he was paid $420,000. The increase in sales allowed the lottery to donate $30 million to a school fund.

Of course, it should be noted that Mac does support some charitable causes. I'm not sure how much if any of his own earnings he donates, however.

The Governor of Illinois doesn't watch The Daily Show

Jon StewartApparently The Daily Show isn't as popular as people think it is. At least not among United States Governors. The episode which aired a few weeks ago on February 9 featured a segment where Jason Jones interviewed the Governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich.

Yesterday, in an interview printed in The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Blagojevich admitted that before going into the Daily Show Q&A with Jones, he thought it was all legit. As we all know, that certainly wasn't the case. The Governor was questioned about policies regarding Illinois pharmacies and birth control pills. At one point, Jones asked the Governor if he was gay. Poor guy... he had no idea what he was getting himself into.

While this is hilarious, I personally think it's rather embarrassing for the Governor to have to admit he was in the dark about The Daily Show. I mean, the program has reached such cultural status and let's be honest - many young Americans turn here to get their evening news... packaged with plenty of laughs. The show does inform you of the major news events of the day by making everything a bit easier to swallow. Politicians need to know the methods and channels that their constituents use to gather their news, and right now The Daily Show is at the top of that list for many folks. Hopefully the Governor will start tuning in.
