How Henry Gale became the leader of The Others

henry galeInteresting article by the Associated Press about the real-life saga of how actor Michael Emerson became the leader of The Others. When he was first cast on Lost during season two, his character, Henry Gale, was only scheduled for three episodes. Evidently, he was supposed to escape and disappear after his third appearance. But, the producers fell in love with the way Emerson played Henry Gale. They adored his bug-eyed mannerisms and the way he manipulated the main characters. Was he good or evil? They boosted up his part just a tad (sarcasm) and now he's the leader of The Others, who are holding Kate, Jack, and Sawyer captive. Who knows what will happen in the season premiere, but I think it's a good bet that we'll be seeing lots of Henry Gale in season three.

The article also gives some hints about what we can expect during season three, including seeing a lot more of The Others (duh, they're holding our favorite characters!) and scenes at a different location. In the interview, Emerson gives very little away, showing that he may just be Henry Gale in real life. Season 3 of Lost premieres Wednesday, Oct. 4th.

Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost. Oh, and Lost!

OK, so we're all trying to figure out what the hell happened on Lost the other night. For all the new questions the arose (what was that big foot statue, who were the two guys in the Arctic station at the end, are Locke/Eko/Desmond dead, etc), I think the biggest question I have is, what the heck is wrong with Charlie? Wasn't he acting just a little bit peculiar last night? The way he acted with Locke and with Eko, and then when the hatch exploded, the next scene we see the castaways just sitting around a fire and he kisses Claire. Didn't he go to see what happened in the hatch after the big light explosion and that weird noise? Aren't the other castaways wondering what was up with that and where Locke/Eko/Desmond are? That was a weird scene, and I'm trying to figure out whether it means something or if it was just lazy writing.

Anyway, TV Guide's Michael Ausiello held a chat at WashingtonPost.com, and he is asked many questions about the season finale (which he loved). Check it out.

Here it is: the Lost map

After weeks of idling, Lost finally gave us a juicy nugget in last night's episode. It came in the form of a glow-in-the-dark map on the inside of a blast door. It appears to be a map of all the Dharma Initiative hatches on the island, and something in the middle signified with a giant, pink question mark. It looks as though all the hatches were meant to lead to that middle spot, but they weren't finished or were blocked off (as marked with X's). Maybe that's what the concrete is that Jack and Sayid found.

According to this guy, who evidently stayed up all night decoding the map, it has several phrases, such as "Sursum Corda", and "I Am Here" on the Swan hatch (where the characters are). There are several other phrases that I'm guessing are in Latin.

Here's another, deconstructed version of the map with a lot more text (somebody has Hi Def TV!).
