At the rate they're going, the 2008 presidential candidates will have made appearances on every kind of TV program before voting day arrives. No show is too insignificant, it seems. (Seriously, if only we could have seen Obama and McCain do the cha-cha on Dancing with the Stars!)

Therefore, it comes as no big shock that on the eve of the election -- Monday, November 3 -- the presidential candidates are going to appear on ESPN's Monday Night Football.

They will be interviewed -- separately on tape -- by half-time anchor Chris "Boomer" Berman. The anticipated time is 10:15 p.m. (ET), but because of the flow of the game, it could be closer to 10:30.

When the Super Bowl first began, halftime shows consisted of marching bands and the occasional big name performer for a song or two. Carol Channing actually did two halftimes -- 1970 and 1972! Well, times have changed and so have the expectations.

The 2009 Super Bowl in Tampa reportedly has landed Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band to anchor the Super Bowl halftime show. It'll be The Boss's first time performing for the NFL's biggest show.

One thing we can count on with Springsteen, there'll be no wardrobe malfunctions. Even if Little Steven whips off his bandana, the censors won't care. Ever since Justin Timberlake ripped the top off Janet Jackson and got a chunk of bra to go with it, revealing her breast to the ogling TV audience, the networks have been careful to keep the halftime shows purely musical.

Here's a way for you and 20 of your closest friends to go to the Super Bowl: act crazy about the Rolling Stones. The company that is planning the halftime performance for the Super Bowl just put out a casting call for 2,000 people to be the crowd on the football field when the Stones perform. The only catch? You've gotta be younger than 45. That leaves out a good chunk of the Stones fan base, doesn't it? The halftime planners say they put the age limit on the participants because the role of the crowd is physically demanding because people will have to sing, dance, and act like they're all-out nutso for the Rolling Stones. Um, there are plenty of people over the age of 45 who do that whenever the Stones go on tour. I think the real reason is that the planners know many of the Stones fans are older, like the band, but old isn't cool! They want the Stones and halftime in general to appear young and hip. That's the key demographic, baby!
