Of all the award ceremonies on television, the Golden Globes is probably the only one I liked watching through to the end. When you mix the stars with a sit-down dinner with booze, some of them then having to make speeches -- what's not to like?
As if lack of a huge ceremony would stop us from chiming in with our own choices in the television categories. Continue on below to see some of our writers' thoughts on the nominees, their picks for winners and some polls for you to voice your own choices.

According to Yahoo, the Golden Globe Awards looked a little less like as
the Screen Actors Guild has stated that nearly all of its members refuse to cross the WGA Strike picket line. This makes it all the more important for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to obtain an independent deal with the WGA before the awards show is broadcast.
As previously reported on TV Squad, the HFPA was hoping to get an interim agreement with the WGA, similar to the one David Letterman and his production company Worldwide Pants obtained to continue
The Late Show and
The Late, Late Show with writers.

According to Reuters,
the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is in talks with the WGA to allow the
Golden Globe Awards to be broadcast as planned. They are trying to get an "interim agreement" such as the one negotiated by David Letterman's company Worldwide Pants.
Letterman's agreement does pave the way for individual organizations to directly negotiate with the WGA. Since the Golden Globes are Hollywood's second biggest self-aggrandizing party (the Oscars being the first), it's easy to see how such an agreement would benefit both sides.

The Golden Globes: the award season's equivalent to a Roman orgy (tastefully done, of course). No seat-holders, plenty of food and libations, and no cue-card written, inane banter between presenters. Most importantly the Globes only present awards to the actors, directors and writers and leave the accolades for best costuming, makeup, and gaffing to the Oscars.
What I like most about the Golden Globes, and subsequently the Screen Actors Guild and People's Choice Awards (the Wal-Mart of awards shows), is that they recognize both television and movies, which makes it interesting for fans of both types of media. If you're not a big movie fan then you don't have to wait too long to see who wins a television category. As I write for . . . ahem . . . TV Squad, my interests tend to lean in favor of the big video box. This is especially true when it comes to television comedies.
With that being said, my in-depth five-minute analysis of the nominees for best comedy can be found after the jump.

We'll have live blog coverage of the red carpet arrivals tonight, starting at 6. Just in case Scarlet
Johansson's nipple accidentally slips out while being interviewed or someone on E! says something really stupid.
We'll blog until 8, and then Cinematical takes over for the rest of the
night with their live blog of the awards show. See you then!
