Idol alums to participate in Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular

Katharine McPheeKatharine McPhee and Jordin Sparks will be performing at this year's Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. The Idol alums will be joined by country music sensation Kenny Chesney and British chart-topper Natasha Bedingfield. McPhee, who is currently working with David Foster on her second album, will perform "Save The Last Dance for Me" at the event. Sparks, who is nominated for a BET Viewer's Choice Award for her duet with Chris Brown, is set to perform her latest single "One Step at a Time." Chesney will sing "Never Wanted Nothing More" and Bedingfield will sing "Pocketful of Sunshine." Natalie Morales of NBC's Today and Tiki Barber of Today and Football Night in America will co-host the event on Independence Day.

The Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will air from 9-10 p.m. on NBC. Sound like something you'd watch? I don't know if I'll be tuning in for this. I'd rather find a local fireworks show than watch one on TV.

30 Rock: Fireworks

30 rock; will arnett
(S01E18) There were so many spectacular moments in this episode that I don't even know where to begin. This has to be one of the best episodes so far this season, because the writers juggled a handful of storylines very, very well. Most of the stories were flat-out hilarious, but they also managed to sneak in a very sweet storyline for Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and it totally worked for me. But, the best part of the show? The one-liners. They had me laughing so hard that I frequently had to pause the TiVo to recover. Does that happen to anyone else with this show? Let's just say I'm thrilled that NBC renewed 30 Rock for a second season.

One thing I noticed about this episode was that Jane Krakowski was not in it at all. And, I'm sorry, but I kind-of liked that. I think she is the weakest character on the show and is having a hard time finding her comedic timing. While all of the supporting characters are ridiculous, her character seems... well, typical. I haven't given up on her, though.

What are you watching today?

Roger FedererSo here it is, the Fourth of July. Barbecues, beaches, parades, fireworks and all that. But there's TV too, if you don't want to go outside.

What is everyone watching today? It's a weekday so many of the same shows are on, but there are also a lot of specials too. USA has a Monk marathon all day and night, while The Sci-Fi Channel has the last day of their three day Twilight Zone marathon. CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News will probably have coverage of all of the Fourth celebrations and rememberances throughout the day. And the space shuttle Discovery is supposed to lift off at 2:38pm ET.

My two Fourth of July TV traditions are watching the episode of Magnum, P.I. where he goes out on the Fourth to row by himself, and gets knocked off of his canoe and has flashbacks to when his dad taught him to swim. And Wimbledon! I'll be watching Wimbledon all day on NBC and ESPN2.

What are your Fourth TV traditions?
