Funny how the announcer says that there will be "serious reviews" by "serious journalists." I'm taking that as a dig at Ben and Ben. It premieres this weekend.

(S01E01) It's finally arrived: the reality series absolutely no one was asking for.
I'm not interested in snarking at the likes of Corey Feldman and Corey Haim. They each had success a lot of folks only dream about, and Feldman was involved in some of my favorite movies growing up, most notably Stand By Me and The Goonies. The movies in which they appeared together, such as Lost Boys and License to Drive, were "just okay" by my standards (and, being about twelve years old at the time, my standards didn't mean much).

This is rather stunning news.
ABC movie critic and entertainment editor Joel Siegel has died at the age of 63. He had been battling colon cancer for a very long time, since discovering he had it at age 57. His family and friends were with him when he died.
Siegel started at WABC-TV and then reviewed movies on Good Morning America He also authored the book Lessons For Dylan, a guidebook for his unborn son on how to live life. He was also one of the cofounders of Gilda's Club, along with Gene Wilder, who lost wife Gilda Radner to cancer.
My favorite show of all time is Mystery Science Theater 3000, and like a lot of people, I would love to see season sets of the series released on DVD. Unfortunately, the cost and hassle of maintaining the rights to all the movies Mike, Joel and the 'bots riffed on all those years would just be too much, so we'll have to settle for the sets being released by Rhino Video. Unfortunately, Rhino recently lost the rights to all the movies on The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection: Volume 1, so if you're a fan and have been waiting to get your hands on that particular DVD, do it now before they're gone for good. The movies on that set are: Catalina Caper, The Creeping Terror, Bloodlust and The Sky Divers). Also, come March the company will lose the rights to The Sidehackers, which is currently included on the third volume of the DVD series.
Film critic Roger Ebert is going to have his fourth cancer surgery on June 16th, two days before his 64th birthday.
No, that's not a typo. The former That 70s Show star is going to star in TCM's first original series, which will be a game show where amateur actors recreate a classic movie scene with Valderrama.
The Critic, while it was on television, aired on ABC, FOX, and Comedy Central, though not at the same time. The show, created by Simpsons vets Mike Reiss and Al Jean, started off on ABC where it wallowed in obscurity, and then moved to FOX for its second season. Actually, it didn't fare much better on FOX, either, and after two seasons the plug was pulled. It did, however, manage to find an audience when Comedy Central began airing reruns. Also, a "third" season of shorts was created for Shockwave.com. Not counting the Shockwave mini-episodes, the series only ran for a total of 23 episodes.
The titular character, voiced by Jon Lovitz, was a critic living in New York City who essentially hated every movie he saw. Of course, every movie he saw was incredibly bad, so you couldn't really blame him. The series premiered in 1994, and as anyone who has tried to get an animated show on primetime in the wake of The Simpsons knows, it can be an uphill battle, even if you happened to work on The Simpsons yourself. In fact, a crossover episode of The Simpsons featuring Jay Sherman (the Critic) was made ("A Star is Burns"). That episode, however, perhaps inadvertently zeroed in on why The Critic didn't last. While it was a great show, it seemed to wither under the shadow of a much bigger and much more popular series. Even I never gave it much of a chance when it first aired, seeing it as a lesser version of what The Simpsons was offering. It wasn't until I watched it on its own merit that I realized it was actually very unique, very well-written, and had carved out its own little universe separate from The Simpsons. The lesson, I suppose, is never jump to conclusions.
Ian McKellan is ready for X-Men 4.
After the release of Dukes of Hazzard and the big-screen adaptations of Dallas and Miami Vice already in the works, perhaps you started thinking to yourself, "They should make Knight Rider a full-length feature." If so, you should probably start watching some television that isn't pushing 20 years. But still, you're in luck 'cause the Weinsteins have picked it up for some sweet ex-cop/talking Trans-Am action. Unfortunately for David Hasselhoff fans, this is yet another no-show (he's not included in the upcoming Baywatch movie either). As long as they bring Mr. Feeny back to voice KITT, I'll keep my protesting to a minimum.
Photographs were recently taken of Britney Spears driving around with her baby boy on her lap. Scandal! Shock! Horror! Jon
didn't see any problem with this because he drives with similar habits (he occasionally has the baby clinging to his
head while driving and, when he has more than one baby, he juggles them).Continue reading The Daily Show: February 8, 2006
