As we've said here many times before, Brian Williams is a funny guy. It's great to see a newsman be able to do really funny bits while talking to Conan O'Brien or Jon Stewart. But should he be doing it all the time?
Williams is going to be a regular on The Jay Leno Show when it debuts next Monday, introducing a regular segment titled "Stories Not Good Enough For Nightly News". Will it hurt your opinion of him (he got some negative press when he hosted SNL), or can you separate the serious news Brian Williams with the Jay Leno Show Brian Williams?
The fifth season premiere of Supernatural bows on September 10. I haven't watched the show since the end of season one, but based on the preview below and these clips over at Airlock Alpha, I really have to start watching this show again.
Dominic Monaghan might be showing up on Lost this season, if you believe the rumors that are going around that old characters will make a return to the show in some way. But he's also going to be a regular on FlashForward, ABC's other mysterious-time show. Here's a short clip that introduces his character.

What will happen to CSI: Miami's Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez)? That's one of the questions that the September 21 season premiere will answer. Here's a sneak peek of the episode. He isn't looking too good here, but remember: Dr. Drake Ramoray fell down an elevator shaft, smashed his brain and died and he came back good as new.
Networks and advertisers love the 18 to 49 demographic. If you're not in that demo, then just sell your TV right now, OK? Nielsen even creates an "awareness" survey every year and sends it to the networks so they know which new shows have made it into the public consciousness, and Nikki Finke has the list.
ABC's Flash Forward and The Cougar have the most awareness, while Hank has the lowest (every time I hear the name of this show I forget that Kelsey Grammer is in it - it sounds like the name of an animated show).
Leno has heard all of the complaints (many of them from YOU, the one reading this right now) about how he is taking away the 10PM slot that could go to one-hour dramas, and he doesn't want to hear about it anymore.
The comic and Jay Leno Show host says that he is not only employing 22 Writers Guild members on his show, he says that if he didn't do this show then there's no guarantee that NBC would put dramas in that slot because most of them fail and they could just put in reality shows like The Biggest Loser or news shows like Dateline in the slot.
Remember when the networks hardly did anything with their TV shows online? Heck, remember when we didn't even have official web sites and fan sites for our favorite shows? If we wanted to talk about, say, Knot's Landing, we had to open our windows and yell to our neighbors, "Can you believe Val did that last night?!" Either that or send a letter via mail, and that took days.
But now we have web sites for every show, and fans of ABC's remake of V have already put up a bunch of sites for that show (which premieres November 3 ):
Can you believe it's August 12 already? The summer seems to be flying by. Kids will be back to school soon (if they aren't already!) and The Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon is only a few weeks away.
There are a bunch of new shows coming up this fall that TV Squad will be covering, as well as a lot of returning shows (of course). So my question is this: what returning show are you most looking forward to seeing again and what new show are you most looking forward to seeing?
Every year, various ad agencies, marketers, and consultants choose which new TV shows they think are going to be winners, and which are going to crash and burn. They're not always accurate, of course, but it's still interesting to see what they pick.
If you were bummed out by the death (?) of Juliet on the season finale ofLost (honestly, who the hell knows what's going to happen in the last season with that storyline), you'll get to see Elizabeth Mitchell on ABC's new version of V this fall. But is Juliet gone from Lost? In this interview with Michael Ausiello, she addresses that question and actually gives a shout out to fans of the show.
I actually didn't even think about this when CBS grabbed Medium from NBC a couple of months ago, but how would the show appear on the schedule first? On the shelf until the fall? Would CBS wait until mid-season because they didn't have room for it in the fall? And how would they introduce the show to CBS viewers? Would they just start airing the show with new episodes?
Well, the answer comes tonight, as CBS airs a repeat episode ("Soul Survivor") of Medium at 10PM.
Maura Tierney, most recently on ER and now one of the stars of NBC's new comedy/drama Parenthood, is ill and will be going through a medical evaluation that will take several weeks. This means that the show will not start filming at the end of this month as originally planned. Instead, production will begin in September. No word yet on what exactly is wrong with Tierney.
We're still not sure what The Jay Leno Show is going to be, exactly. From all of the clips we've seen and the hints that Jay and NBC have given, it looks like it's going to be more monologue/comedy sketch-driven than The Tonight Show., though with many of the same elements ("Headlines," etc). Leno is going to comedy clubs (as he always does) and trying out some new jokes, which are actually quite good. (Both clips start out the same but they are different... the second is after the jump.)
It's always great to hear the fall premiere dates for shows. It reminds you that, yes, eventually the summer is going to end and the fall will be here. Here are the dates when the new seasons of your favorite old NBC shows (and new ones) will launch (more dates to come).
