Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I started watching
The Fairly OddParents a few years ago and completely fell in love with it. I have a couple of the DVD sets, but I was never sure how the DVD sets were organized. Sometimes they're by a "theme" and sometimes they're by a season or volume. But now we have actual complete season sets for seasons one and two, and I'm really looking forward to having them. Funny, though, how no one can agree whether it's
Fairly OddParents or
Fairly Odd Parents. I see it spelled both ways everywhere.
I won't be buying the
Highlander: The Animated Series set though., There can be only one animated set to buy this week and I'm going with
OddParents.

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I know we all have our favorite shows that we buy on DVD, but I can't understand how anyone - anyone - would want to buy
Gene Simmons' Family Jewels on DVD. Do buyers of these sets actually pop them into the DVD player and watch them over and over?
The
Burke's Law sets continue with those annoying "Season/Volume" packages, but the last season of the
Odd Couple season 5 set contains all of the episodes and completes the series.
- Bones - Season 3
- Burke's Law - Season 1, Vol. 2
- Charmed - Complete Series
- Daniel Boone - Season 6
- Death Note - Box Set 1
- Doctor Who - Season 4 and The Infinite Quest
- The Dog Whisperer - Celebrity Edition
- Fairly Oddparents - Season 6, Vol. 1
- Gene Simmons' Family Jewels - Season 3
- Hannah Montana - Season 1
- Hawaii Five-O - Season 5
- McHale's Navy - Season 4
- Monty Python's Flying Circus - Collector's Edition Megaset
- Mystery Science Theater 3000 - 20th Anniversary (Regular set)
- The Odd Couple - Season 5

It's almost hard to believe that SpongeBob SquarePants has been around for eight years, but it has. If any of you were afraid the eternally-optimistic invertebrate might be going away, don't fret: Nick has ordered up thirteen new episodes of the series for the 2008 season.
I was a big fan of SpongeBob from the very beginning (I actually have a SpongeBob mug with water in it sitting next to me at this very moment), but I'll admit I don't tune in as much as I used to. I'll still Tivo the show on occasion, though, and it still makes me laugh.

Timmy and his two magical godparents with the "floaty crowny things" will have a brand new one-hour special which will air on Nickelodeon on Friday, May 19 at 8 p.m. The new episode, titled "Fairy Idol," will spoof this popular reality show on FOX whose name escapes me right now. It's the one where everyone sings and people vote on them. I believe it's called
Uncle Banjo's Wacky Funtime Musical Showcase, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyway, rather than a singing competition, this one is a competition to become a fairy godparent, which an evil genie named Norm tries to win after Cosmo and Wanda call it quits. Right now you can pop on over to TurboNick and catch a
sneak peak of the episode.

The Family Guy fans out there probably know that creator Seth MacFarlane
used to work on somewhat more innocent fare like Johnny Bravo and Cow and Chicken. When I first
started hearing about Family Guy I immediately thought, 'is that the same guy who worked on Johnny
Bravo?' Indeed, it was. Anyway, the other night while checking Frederator's podcast archive, I found an
animated short called "Zoomates." It was created by MacFarlane and Butch Hartman (The Fairly
OddParents). You can tell Hartman had his hand in it based on the design of the characters alone. So, if you're
bored on this lazy Saturday and want a few minutes of entertainment, click here, then scroll down to "Episode 19" to download it.
Keep in mind this is the first of four animated shorts, and I make no claims about what comes after it. Although, there
is a very awesome Lifesavers commercial from several years ago that follows. Here's a direct link.
Note: Apparently this aired as a segment on Oh Yeah!
Cartoons earlier this year.

I'm guessing that we'll see
the
School of Rock version of Jack Black, rather than the Tenacious D version when he hosts Nickelodeon's 19th
annual
Kids' Choice Awards on April 1. I'm pretty sure
F*** Her Gently isn't considered
family-friendly. Black says of the honor, "I have a lot of secret plans for when I host the awards, but I can tell
you I'm going to bring the super-duper, freaky-deaky, ultra-clowny super dance!" That man is going to drive those
kids wild.
Voting begins on March 6 at Nickelodeon's
website. A few
nominees in the television category are after the jump, or you can check out the full list (including movies)
here.
Let's just say it ain't the Oscars. And that's OK.
