(S16E14) "May the best woman win." - AmandaWell, this surely was a season of blindsides on
Survivor Micronesia, wasn't it? Down to the finale, it just went on and on. After the excitement we had all season due to the strategical game play, I felt tonight's finale was a bit lackluster and full of filler. No, I'm not fussing just because my favorite didn't win. Heck, if that were the case, I would have been gone when Yau-Man hit the dust! Read on past the jump for my full review of the finale.

(S16E13) "Win and survive, fail and die." - Erik
Well, maybe you can win and die, too. No, I'm not talking about an odd variant of a James Bond movie. I'm talking
Survivor Micronesia. This season has been like a roller coaster ride. While castaways I've been cheering on have been blindsided and cast away much like fish guts to seagulls, I've been enjoying the season nonetheless. After all, it's been their own darn fault!

(S16E12) Okay, I officially declare
Survivor Micronesia to be one of the best, if not the best, season ever in the series. You see, the show really isn't all about surviving the elements of nature. The survival skills needed don't necessarily have to do with who might forage best in the woods or who can build a sturdy shelter. Nope, it's "Outwit, Outplay, Outlast." And, chances are ... if you outwit and outplay, you're going to outlast. Tonight's backsided blindside will make for
Survivor history.

(S16E10) "When you're annoying, you might not be able to appease everybody with a donut. They might just want the donut." - James
All week the promos for tonight's
Survivor Micronesia episode were saying that a blunder would overtake James having two idols and not playing them to save himself in
Survivor China. It's true. James is no longer the goat of stupid moves. Maybe they should rename the tag line for the season. Instead of
Fans vs. Favorites, it could be
When Smart Castaways Do Dumb Things. Or,
When Smarter Castaways Outwit Those Not as Smart.

(
S16E09) "It's something you have to try, kind of like a juicy rabbit." - James talking about the bowl of bats at the feast.
Ew! Perhaps if they didn't still have fur, were diced and then sautéed in a light garlic butter sauce. Um, no. I still don't think I'd be eating bats when there's a whole table of fruit and other good food. I guess I'm just not that experimental with my foodstuffs. For tonight's new low fat, no bat review of
Survivor Micronesia, read on past the jump.

(S16E06) The promos all this week sounded like an exciting episode of
Survivor Micronesia would hit tonight. Now, we know that the promos are edited to make us think things happen when they don't happen at all. They take things out of context and show-hungry fans will eat it up.
This week we were led to believe that Jonathan Penner's knee wound from a previous challenge might take him out of the game. We were also led to believe that fan Jason found out that Ozzy has already found the hidden immunity idol on Exile Island. Did either of these events really happen? Did both? Read on past the jump for more.

(S16E05) "Chickens have a pecking order. They peck at the weakest until they kill them. It's just like
Survivor." - Chet
The promos this week made this seem like a show not to miss and they didn't steer us wrong. As promised, the tribes were mixed up and one challenge went beyond brutal. Schoolyard picks and wounded people? Now, there's a good episode!

(S16E04) Holy eels, Batman! Er, wait. It's the Hulk, Joel, not Batman. But some of the castaways on
Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites do seem a bit cartoon-like, don't they? Or perhaps more along the lines of caricatures. At four episodes in, I'm still a bit iffy on some of the names of the fans tribe. But some of them seem larger than life. Joel, Mikey B., Chet, Krazy Kathy -- they're memorable. After tonight, I definitely have a firmer grasp on Tracy.

(S16E03) We're three episodes into
Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites and I still have trouble remembering who the one timid-looking fan is in this image. Oh, yeah. I know Krazy Kathy. And who could forget Joel?
I'm up to snuff on my faves tribe, though. But as I watched tonight's show, I happened to walk away from the set for a minute and it all came back to me. Jonathan Penner has totally stolen Alan Alda's voice. I remember it now from his season, but it's still evident. How did he do that? And, what does Alan Alda think about Jonathan Penner stealing his voice?

(S16E02) "Get a hotel room," Jonathan says.
Let's keep in mind that the castaways on
Survivor Micronesia have been together for four days as this episode was filmed. Now, that's plenty of time for true love, isn't it? And, the fact that it's airing on Valentine's Day makes it all so much more romantic, right? How touching, how sweet!
Well, unless it's only hot jungle sex noises under the fronds surrounded by rats, that is.

Survivors ready? It's not just any old fans ... it's SUPERfans going up against returning castaways in the latest incarnation of
Survivor. Just how super are they? After all, they're calling the returning players "all-time favorites" and we're talking Jonny Fairplay and some more obscure players. But the concept itself is different and it's sure to be fresh this year with a new dynamic.
That said, tonight was a smidgen predictable and a lot odd.

Jeff Probst, the host of
Survivor Micronesia, recently talked with
media outlets. We all know how Jeff can be at Tribal Council with his "probsting" (and sometimes leading) questions.
Did he spill any beans? Did he offer fans some hints about the upcoming season? After all, this isn't the typical Survivor season starting on Thursday. It's the ballyhooed Fans vs. Favorites!
Although there are no real spoilers, some of the following is slightly spoilerish -- read at your own risk!

In about two weeks, we'll have a whole new season of
Survivor and it's sounding like this season is surely one to watch, especially if you're a die-hard fan of the series. If you remember, I'm the one who tends to peek at the end of a book while reading it. So I've done my thing. I've scouted around the internet seeking rumors, spoilers, possible foilers and more for you!
I can't vouch for the spoilers I'll be listing after the jump, but we'll see what happens. If you're not into spoilers, the images in the gallery below are from the first episode but contain no spoilers. Some odd characters, but no spoilers.

(S12E14) The only thing you need to know about this episode is that no one gets voted off . In fact, the only thing that is halfway entertaining is watching the darker side of Terry emerge. It begins when they first get back to camp after the last tribal. Why does Terry lay into Cirie for dropping her stick? Is it because he is angry that Shane got voted out? He's just a mess when he isn't in control. He's crankier than we have ever seen him and did I hear him accuse Cirie of beating her kids?
During the reward challenge, which involves running back and forth and counting, Jeff is particularly cheerleaderly telling everyone they can rest while aboard the luxury yacht which is being offered as the reward. Aras and Terry are neck and neck when it erupts into a shoving match. Terry and Aras trade verbal barbs when Terry complains about the rules (call the "wahmbulance, Terry's crying on the course."). Aras wins and Terry says that he didn't understand the rules. They spar a bit and Terry is clearly upset. He's not equipped to handle loss at all.

(S12E13) One of the best things about Casa Dysfunction is that you can never truly call which way things are going to go. I think this is one of the reasons Terry keeps being frustrated. There's no logical order. There is a pattern but it doesn't make sense to Terry and so everything he tries seems to fall apart.
Another multi-level challenge of ridiculousness gives the Survivors a chance to fight to see their loved ones. Why do they keep having these physical challenges when Terry always wins? It makes for boring viewing (especially for those of who aren't Terry fans). This season's twist means Terry gets to play God: two loved ones get a reward challenge, one person gets to bring a family member back to camp, one person gets a hug and one person gets Exile Island. Terry lets Shane be with his son which is a pretty cool thing to do. He also lets Cirie be with her husband. Terry exacts a bit of revenge sending Danielle to Exile Island. His choices make me like Terry just a bit more. And as happens to me every season, the family reunion episode leaves me all weepy.
