CBS to allow Slingbox users to e-mail clips of shows
It seems like CBS is really trying to get on board with this whole Internet thing. In a keynote address to the Consumer Electronics Show, President and CEO Leslie Moonves told the crowd that old and new media are pretty much the same thing now, and that networks and other content producers should embrace the newer forms of media rather than fight them, like the music industry did.To that end, Moonves and Sling Media CEO Blake Krikorian introduced a new product, called the Clip + Sling, which will get loaded into Slingboxes starting in the second quarter. What the software will allow users to do is grab clips from CBS shows and then e-mail them to friends. You may eventually be able to "mash" clips together for your friend's amusement, though I'm not sure what purpose that serves. Anyway, it seems like Moonves really likes these new-fangled video thingies -- he brought one of the YouTube guys on stage during the speech -- but I just have one question: why the hell doesn't inntertube ever freakin' work right?
The Office: Back From Vacation
(S03E11) Is there any doubt that this is the best sitcom on TV? Not only is it funny, but there are some great stories with hellacious plot twists.
Witness this latest episode, which dealt primarily with Michael returning to the office after a vacation in Jamaica. Before the holiday hiatus, we were left with a cliffhanger when at the end of the last episode, Michael was desperately trying to find someone to go with him after his girlfriend broke up with him. He was finally able to persuade someone to come along, but we were left speculating as to who the "lucky" person was.

Deal or No Deal winner speaks
I don't know how many of you out there are fans of Deal or No Deal, but TV Filter has an insightful interview with Thorpe Schoenle, who is apparently the show's biggest winner so far. Now, usually interviews with game show or reality TV contestants aren't that interesting, but it just so happens that Raoul, who conducted the e-mail exchange with Schoenle, is actually a close friend, so it's less like reading an interview and more like eavesdropping on someone telling their friend all about being on this cool new game show. As it turns out, Howie Mandel is actually a pretty cool guy. Of course, we already knew that.ABC news producer suspended for bashing President
This gives new meaning to that
old advice that you should never talk politics at the office. It also gives fuel to the fire that the mass media is
full of liberal, left-wingers. The executive producer for Good Morning America Weekend is serving a one-month
suspension for writing nasty things about President Bush in a company e-mail. The e-mail was written back on September
30, 2004 by producer John Green to a colleague about a Bush-Kerry debate. It said, "Are you watching this? Bush
makes me sick. If he uses the 'mixed messages' line one more time I think I'm going to puke."The e-mail turned up two weeks ago on Matt Drudge's website. Green has since apologized. He's been the executive producer of GMA Weekend since it launched in 2004.
