So much for being a role model for children. Craig Phillip Robinson, who plays warehouse foreman Daryl Philbin on The Office
was busted for possession of drugs. Actually, he was arrested in June and the felony charges for possessing MDMA, also known as ecstasy, and methamphetamine were just filed.
Ah, drugs and Hollywood. The perfect pair. I don't know how this will affect his standing with NBC, but his character is low-key enough to easily be replaced on the show. On the other hand, celebrities (including minor ones) are caught so much with drugs nowadays it should practically be expected. Perhaps NBC should have had better
drug testing.
If you look at his
IMDB profile, you'll see that Robinson has been in quite a few movies (most recently
Pineapple Express). Given that, I think the only thing this arrest is going to do to his career is strengthen it. He'll do the usual shtick of apologizing and getting community service and then take on larger roles.

"I'll take care of it."
(S02E09) Ah, if only we all had someone in our lives who would say that whenever we turn up with a problem. I'd like to say there were some surprises in this episode, but really there was just one I didn't see coming.
Trevor realizes that he's been a handful so when she says, "I wish I could deploy -- to a five-star spa," he takes her words to heart. In typical TV fashion, because in reality this kind of stuff doesn't happen, Trevor decides to create a spa dinner for Roxie.
The tribe chip in to help him, but the surprise is ruined because Roxie can't resist socializing with the girls from her G.E.D. class. Now, that did come as a bit of a surprise. Not Roxie socializing, but that she's a high school dropout. She comes off as a smart cookie, but apparently that's all life experience.

File this one under "non-story of the day." TV Guide is reporting exclusively that yes - wait for it - Tatum O'Neal is still part of FX's acclaimed drama Rescue Me.
Was there ever any doubt that she wouldn't be?
Sure, her recent drug bust was a major headline a few weeks ago, but there was never a moment when I thought, "Man... I guess she won't be on Rescue Me anymore." Last I heard, her charge was only a misdemeanor. According to TVG, she's already filmed 2 episodes for the drama's fifth season, which doesn't return until 2009.

A&E is bringing back its award-winning documentary series
Intervention for a fifth season. The series follows people who are estranged from the friends and family and in personal crisis because of their addiction to drugs, alcohol or other compulsive behaviors. At the end of each episode, the addict is surprised with an intervention led by family, close friends and one of these experts: Jeff VanVonderen, Candy Finningan or Ken Seeley.
The season premiere will profile Chad, a gifted athlete who suffers from an addiction to crack cocaine. Chad, once a part of Lance Armstrong's cycling team, now spends his days panhandling, abusing drugs, and drinking. Also on the slate for later this season is
Intervention: After Treatment. This one-hour special will feature a panel of past addicts brought together in a Los Angeles studio for a candid discussion about how the intervention changed their lives.
Intervention returns on Monday June 16th at 9 pm. ET/PT on A&E.

On Monday, April 28,
CSI star
Gary Dourdan was arrested in Palm Springs, California. He was asleep in his car and when a police officer approached, he found Dourdan disoriented. The actor was arrested after the cop found cocaine, heroin, Ecstacy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia in the car.
Despite pleading guilty to drug possession today, Dourdan will not have to do any jail time. In fact, in the deal his lawyer struck with prosecutors, Gary will get treatment for his drug problems. Basically, he lucked out.
"Once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed," said his lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, in a statement to The Associated Press. Dourdan won't have to do any time in a drug rehab facility or behind bars, so all things considered, he's very, very fortunate. He could have faced up to three years or more in jail .
Gary has already departed CSI, and in the
season finale, his character was seemingly killed in a point blank shooting. However,
when Jorja Fox returns for the fall premiere, Dourdan is reportedly in the show. And not as a ghost. So, now that he won't be doing time, he'll have time to film scenes for
CSI and, presumably, wrap up the unfinished business of the
CSI crew exposing the corrupt under sheriff.

I've always enjoyed Richard Quest's reporting on CNN (if you don't know the name, the face and voice will remind you who he is). He was the wacky Brit who always had a funny take on politics, current events and pop culture. I thought he was just some crazy, comical Brit reporter. Now we find out that he's a crazy, comical Brit reporter/meth fan.
The New York Times is reporting that Quest was arrested in Central Park at 3:40 this morning. He was originally arrested because the park is closed between the hours of 1am and 6am and he was trespassing, but as he was being taken out of the park by police, he disclosed that he had meth in his pocket. In fact, his exact words were "I have meth in my pocket." At least you have to give him points for honesty and accuracy.
No official reaction from CNN yet, but stay tuned.

The BBC
is defending a reporter that took drugs live on one of their television programs.
On the program, reporter Nicky Taylor allowed herself to be injected with THC, a chemical component of cannabis. She is also seen smoking joints in Amsterdam. The program, called
Should I Smoke Dope?, is scheduled to be broadcast on BBC3 later this year.
Taylor has done previous investigations aimed at younger viewers about the negative effects of certain behaviors, such as plastic surgery and binge drinking. In each program, she has subjected herself to the behavior in question. One could argue that she's using the opportunity for free booze, drugs and plastic surgery.

(
S06E07) I think this was probably one of the best episodes of
The Dead Zone ever. I loved it. But before I talk about that, I want to talk about the fact that I am really enjoying the fact that the show seems to be doing "covers" or remakes of classic movies. In this case, it would be the movie
Coma, which was about a plot to deliberately put patients into comas in order to harvest their organs. That is exactly where I thought this episode was headed. But of course, it steered off the tracks and deviated into its own little denouement instead.

So, last year I mentioned that Snoop Dogg got into a bit of trouble for allowing both a feature film and a reality series to be made about his youth football league.
It would seem whatever problems hindered the possibility of a Snoop reality series have been taken care of, because later this year Snoopy Snoop will be the center of a new series for E! that will follow the rapper, actor and producer as he tries to balance his family life and his work.

If you were to list all of the celebs that I thought would be arresteded for driving while under the influence of alcohol, I wouldn't think Ty Pennington would be on the list. Of course, that's a silly assumption, since anyone can drink and drive, but I guess I think of the Paris Hiltons and David Hasselhoffs of the world first. And unknown reality stars.
The Extreme Makeover host was arrested over the weekend and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and possibly drugs too. Pennington released a statement saying that he "made an error in judgement" and "I want to apologize to ABC and my fans..." Translation: "I've done this before and it sucks that I got caught" and "damn, I hope this doesn't screw up my ABC gig!"
Hopefully he doesn't build those houses in the same condition.

I'm sure by now you've all heard that Keith Richards (didn't) snort his late father's ashes. That particular story popped up no fewer than seventy-eight zillion times yesterday during my usual perusal of the news and entertainment sites.
However, I'm not especially trusting of our news media, and I knew that only Conan O'Brien would be able to get to the bottom of Richards' alleged daddy-snorting habit. I've placed a clip below in which Keith himself explains to Conan exactly what he prefers when it comes to ingesting his family members. The Rolling Stones guitarist may have led a wild life of debauchery and excess, but you can't deny the man has discerning tastes. Also, he had his teeth brushed just for the occasion. You have to admire the man's commitment to oral hygiene.
Clip after the jump.

Here's a rather disturbing video (after the jump) of Sesame Street veteran Kermit The Frog singing about all of the people who have left him, the horrible life he's had, and Miss Piggy. This isn't "The Rainbow Connection," folks. This is Kermit doing an acoustic version of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" (also covered by Johnny Cash). Kermit has hit rock bottom. This episode has been brought to you by the letter D, which stands for depressing.
I never really noticed this before, but if you close your eyes and listen closely, Kermit sounds a lot like Neil Young.
(Warning: NSFW...especially if your W is touchy about felt puppets masturbating and taking drugs.)

HBO is doing a multi-platform launch for The Addiction Project, which will focus on various addictions as a treatable brain disease. The 14-part documentary Addiction premieres tonight at 9:00 p.m., which also happened to coincide with HBO's free weekend preview that runs through this Sunday, so you may be able to catch it even if you don't normally receive HBO.
In addition, Lost Remote writes that all fourteen parts will be made available online for free, so keep an eye on the official site.

Now that we have all these fancy-wancy computers, it's easy to make funny videos like the one I've placed below, but this particular one was created in the late '80s, and no doubt took a long time to create. It's also one of the most hysterical things I've seen in a long time.
The video is an anti-drug promo with Ronald and Nancy Reagan, creatively edited into a call for more widespread drug use, especially among children. Yes, the video is manipulated to make it appear as if Ron and Nancy are advocates of drug use, but if you pay close attention, you'll also learn how important freedom is to this nation, especially the freedom to have less freedom.
The video is a little over seven minutes long, but trust me, it's worth it to sit through the whole thing. I laughed so hard the people in the apartment next to mine probably think I'm insane.
