'80s TV hunks for the thirty-something teenybopper

Jack WagnerAll this month, AOL TV is publishing their list of TV's hottest hunks of all time. That's a lot of hunks, but probably they won't all be memorable to you -- or to me.

Because when were you swooning over TV hunks? When you were a teenager, of course. Unless you are really, really immature. But seriously, I am guessing that beyond the age of 16 or so, you probably didn't plaster any Teen Magazine pin-ups on your bedroom walls.

As a teenager of the '80s, I surely had my favorite TV hunks. Yep, they were plastered on my bedroom walls, too: imagine hunk wallpaper and you've got the idea. So who on TV mingled amongst the movie actors of the Brat Pack?

Stump the King: Miami Vice

Don JohnsonThis week's letter comes from a reader named Elaine and I definitely need any help I can get.

"I'm looking for the name of a TV series that ended with a group of people walking up to a truck and it exploded with someone in it. The show was cancelled a few years ago and I need to know the name or I'm gonna go crazy"

Nine recordings by TV stars that should have never happened - VIDEOS

Phyllis Diller and her crewIn this business we call show, there are those people who never let us forget that they are involved to make money. Luckily, those people often occupy the off camera part of the business and let the performers worry about making art. Meanwhile, the business types sit back and try to think up ways they can make more money off of the performers. One of the most insidious ways is to appeal to the star's ego and convince them to make a recording. What follows are some of the best -- and by "best," I mean "WTF?"

Phyllis Diller
"You're Different"
Most people today recognize he name Phyllis Diller but have no idea why she was famous, however if they watch this clip, they can be sure that it isn't for singing.

The WB to burn off eps of Just Legal in August

Just LegalFor the three people who were fans of last fall's WB bomb Just Legal, which was cancelled after three episodes, you can now rest easy; the soon-to-be-defunct network has decided to burn off the remaning five episodes of the show. According to this article on The Futon Critic, the network will show the pilot, then the unaired episodes, every Sunday at 7 PM ET starting August 6.

I guess they're showing the pilot to remind everyone what the show was about. I can give it to you in eight words: Don Johnson. Old lawyer. Young lawyer. Wackiness ensues. There. Now you can free up another summer Sunday and go to the beach.

Did Foxx almost ruin Miami Vice movie?

Miami Vice moviePersonally, I think that the big screen Miami Vice movie was ruined the day they decided, "hey, let's make a big screen Miami Vice movie!" But Slate is reporting that there was a lot of trouble on the set of the film. Not only was there a real shooting while on location in the Dominican Republic, but people are saying that Jamie Foxx (he plays Tubbs) came with an entourage and was acting like a diva on the set, and that only increased after he won the Academy Award for Ray. He demanded, and got, a pay raise, while Colin Farrell (he plays Crockett) got a pay cut, and asked that the ending be changed.

I hope the movie blows. Seriously, how can they remake Miami Vice without the music, the clothing, the neon, the pastels, the whole Miami Vice vibe that made it cool in the first place? Outrageous action scenes? Explosions? Deafening rap music? This isn't Miami Vice, it's just another modern buddy action pic. The trailer doesn't make the movie look too promising.

And to think that Michael Mann, the creator of the show, directed this. Hey, I'll hold off complete judgement til the movie is released (actually, the DVD), but advance buzz is incredibly bad.

NBC to air original Miami Vice pilot

miami viceI never would have thought a show about a couple of narcs could have been so popular, but Miami Vice proved me wrong. Speaking of Miami Vice, I'm sure you've all heard of the upcoming film based on the popular television series starring Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as two undercover agents who mix t-shirts and suit jackets like it's no one's business. In celebration of the new flick, NBC will be re-broadcasting the original two-hour pilot as part of a three-hour event called Miami Vice: Undercover which will also include a featurette about the upcoming movie from director Michael Mann. Stars Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell will host the special, which airs on July 22 at 8 p.m.

Don Johnson has another kid on the way

Don JohnsonDon Johnson and his wife Kelley have a third child on the way. Johnson, who starred in Miami Vice and Nash Bridges, married his current wife in '99 and the couple has 2 other children. Johnson also has children from two previous marriages. The couple's publicist said that the two were "thrilled." Well that's good... I'd be worried if the publicist said something like, "Don and his wife are extremely unhappy and have no idea what went wrong."
