In a perfect example of "you never know", Chris Kattan
has separated from his wife, model Sunshine Tutt, after two months of marriage. I would have called it "nuptial bliss," but I don't think that qualifies here. This was a quickie, even by Hollywood standards (although they were dating since 2005. I guess the actual wedding was a catalyst for a reexamination of the relationship).
They must have foreseen problems since a prenuptial agreement was signed. Thank goodness there are no children to worry about. Children always make a separation more messy.
This whole announcement came three days after Kattan's rep announced the split, but stated that no divorce was in the works. How quickly things change.
After a two-month wedding, you have to wonder if any romantic feelings were involved at all, or if someone just wanted a career boost. There can be such superficiality and phoniness in Hollywood. It couldn't have been a real marriage like
Christopher Knight.

(S01E08) In what might have been one of the stranger episodes, there was a point in the voiceover where Mary comments her clients, Ruth and Don. They're devout Catholics, but they hate each other and want to split. They don't because they cannot get an annulment. When Mary urges them to just get a divorce, saying that as a Catholic she understand them, they say they'll continue to suffer because it's God's will. That's when Mary's VO is, "Okay, too weird for me."
That's how I felt about this show. While it was an interesting examination of a couple facing a dilemma while at the same time being in Witness Protection, there were elements that made me cringe.

She's been the voice of precocious child Lisa Simpson on
The Simpsons since she was 23 years old, but her problems are more grown up.
Yeardley Smith has filed for divorce from her husband of six years.
The reason cited for her split from Daniel Erickson was "irreconcilible differences." This is the second divorce for Smith, having divorced actor Christopher Grove in 1992. Smith is planning to change her last name back to Smith from Erickson. The couple have no children.

The Hulkster's soon-to-be-ex is accusing him of
trying to pull a fast one on her. Linda Hogan has requested that the judge freeze Hulk Hogan's (real name: Terry Bollea) assets to prevent him from spending the proceeds from the sale of the couple's ten million dollar mansion. She goes further to claim that Terry is trying to dupe her out of other assets from "legal shenanigans".
Hogan is best known as the professional wrestling icon of the 80's. The couple appeared together on the VH1 reality television series
Hogan Knows Best. Hulk Hogan can currently be seen on television hosting NBC's
American Gladiators.

(
S02E05) "
That shrimp smells rancid."-- Kitty WalkerOooh, this was a painful episode to watch. In a good way. The writing was absolutely spot on for this episode, and it was just beautifully played. Some things happened that I expected and some things that I didn't, which I will get into after the jump. It was the obligatory Halloween episode, but nicely downplayed also. I loved the fact that the minute Nora's back was turned, Justin and Rebecca dove into the candy bowl like a couple of little kids. It was a good juxtaposition to pair Robert's debate with Halloween instead of focusing on the Walkers engaging in a big costume party, as might have happened with this crazy bunch.

Um, no, these two weren't married recently in either Massachusetts or New Jersey. What's actually happening here is that "irreconcilable differences" is being cited as the reason for divorce from their significant others. But, you knew that already, didn't you?
In Wayne Brady's case it's his wife, Mandie Brady, that is filing for divorce under these circumstances. The former star of The Wayne Brady Show and Whose Line is it Anyway? (and current host of FOX's new show Don't Forget the Lyrics) and his wife married in 1999. The couple separated in April of 2006, according to papers filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court. Mandie is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple's 4-year-old daughter, Maile.

According to the New York Post, Criss Angel's wife, Joanne Sarantakos (Sarantakos is Angel's actual surname), is suing her husband for divorce, claiming that he kept their marriage a secret to help his career and make him more appealing to fans.
Their marriage was enough of a secret that I had no idea he was even married, though it's not as if I spend every waking moment keeping up with Angel's personal life. Still, whenever a girl was by Criss' side on Mindfreak, she was always just credited as "Criss' girl" as far as I remember.

HBO has just announced that they are going to take Richard Ford's acclaimed trilogy of books, The Sportswriter, Independence Day, and Lay of the Land, and turn them into a six hour miniseries titled The Sportswriter.
The books focus on sportswriter Frank Bascombe and the problems he has in his life. The books cover everything from Vietnam to 9/11 and so will the miniseries. It will be directed by James Mangold (Men In Trees, Identity, Walk The Line) and written by Mark Bomback, who also wrote the upcoming third Die Hard movie with Bruce Willis and Justin Long.
This should be an interesting miniseries, especially if they get someone good to play Bascombe and stick close to the books. I've only read The Sportswriter. It's quite good.

From the "We Saw This Coming From a Mile Away" file... comes news that Danny Bonaduce is getting divorced. His wife, Gretchen, has filed for divorce after 16 years of marriage.
It's a miracle they made it that long, really. If you're like me and the most you've seen of
Breaking Bonaduce was on
The Soup, you've seen enough to know know she puts up with a lot of shit from him. And it's not just his on-again, off-again addictions to drugs and alcohol. The dude has a raging temper. She was a real trooper for sticking around, but things apparently just got to be too much for her. I guess
Dr. Phil failed.
Bonaduce announced the divorce this week while being interviewed on Adam Carolla's syndicated radio show.

I'm torn: is a reality show about divorcees helping their ex-spouses find a new love really uplifting or really creepy and disturbing?
I guess it doesn't matter what I think, because Bravo has given the "go ahead" to Take My Ex, a new reality series pilot in which divorced couples help their former spouses find love again. After all, who better to find you the man or woman of your dreams than the person you divorced because they themselves couldn't meet your emotional needs?

Brothers and Sisters continues to give good episode, and good story. I particularly enjoyed how they used Nora's writing class and the story she was writing to give structure to the episode. She wrote a narrative about all of the crazy threads of her family and all of the story lines.

So... what exactly happened between Anne Heche and James Tupper? Their new series,
Men in Trees, has a strong showing in ratings on Thursdays following
Grey's Anatomy. It's a cute, if somewhat unremarkable show. But earlier this year, the two stars
made headlines when their on-screen romance carried on off-screen. Why do we care? Well, in truth, we shouldn't care- but it is interesting because both of them were married at the time.
James Tupper, who plays breathy Jack on
Men in Trees, recently gave an interview to
People magazine where he swears up and down that neither of them cheated on their spouses. He says their marriages were both over before they hooked up. It's like Brad and Angelina all over again - and we didn't believe them either, did we?
Of course, I hope that the love Heche and Tupper feel for each other is real, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't. In the interview, Tupper uses that line that all actors use when they fall for a co-star: "I've never met anyone like her." That's a red flag, if I've ever seen one. I think we hear that one from adults in relationships as often as we hear child actors say "I've worked for this all my life!"

(
S08E11) Boy howdy, things sure are tense between Dets. Benson and Stabler. I thought their issues were in the past, but they never really can be, can they? Stabler immediately pushed Benson's buttons in this episode when he suggested that a man who is addicted to drugs and alcohol isn't technically abusive. Of course, Benson grew up with an alcoholic mother and she knows that abuse comes in many forms. Stabler knows that too, dammit, but he feels an obligation to side with the man in a nasty divorce case because his own divorce isn't going too well.
Now to the story: A woman, Valerie (Michael Michele), accuses her soon-to-be ex-husband of raping her. But it all seems fishy because she and her husband, Miles (Blair Underwood), are going through a nasty, nasty divorce. Their daughter, Tessa (Tiffany Evans), is in the middle of it.

Fox has given a script order to a new sitcom from the Farrelly brothers, writers Chris Pappas and Mike Bernier and producer Brad Johnson. Called
The Rules for Starting Over, the sitcom focuses on a thirty-something guy who is entering the dating scene after a divorce. He's got a bunch of male buddies - also divorced. All of them learning that, yes, the rules of dating in your 30s are much different than the rules of dating in your 20s.
Let's muse for a moment on just how different. There's the whole biological clock thing you've got to look out for in your 30s. People are more likely to have entered the stage of dating where they're "shopping for a life partner" rather than just having a good time. There's less sloppy "hooking up" and, I'm guessing, you're less likely to stumble your way into a threesome. Those things require planning when you're not in college or the
Real World house. The internet may play a bigger part in your dating life than it ever has. If you "let yourself go" during your marriage, than you've got to lower your superficiality standards or whip yourself back into marketable shape. Wow, is there anything good about dating in your 30s?
Sex in the City made it look so kinky.

K-Fed's looking to make a second outing in the world of reality television with the help of
House of Carters' executive producer Kenneth Crear. Crear reported to
Us Magazine, "We are in talks about this. Kevin came to me because he liked the way I shot the
House of Carters series and the way I made Nick Carter look real and trustworthy. I gave people a different perspective of him and made people really respect him." Kevin feels that the fast track to post-Brit respectability will come from reality television. You can't make this stuff up.
K-Fed is in negotiations to shoot eight episodes over a three month period. Kevin has said he won't be hating on Britney in the show, which is, of course, focused on him. That's ok. Britney's doing a fine job shaming herself in the post-Federline years all by her
pantyless lonesome.
