New TV on DVD releases this week

Make Room For DaddyHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

Let's do something different this week. Which of these DVDs do you plan on buying? Let us know in the comments section.

I can't imagine buying any of these shows. The only two I might be interested in are Just Shoot Me (though I think it's one of those shows I'm happy just to see in reruns and not actually own) and Make Room For Daddy. But I would buy that just because it's a classic show, not because it's one of my favorites. It's one of those classic shows that I just never got into, unlike I Love Lucy or The Dick Van Dyke Show or The Honeymooners.

  • Breaking Bad - Season 1
  • Canterbury's Law - Complete Series
  • Cities of the Underground - Season 2
  • Dirty Jobs - Collection 4
  • Futurama - Into the Wild Blue Yonder
  • Girlfriends - Season 6
  • Just Shoot Me - Season 3
  • The Librarian: Curse of the Judas Chalice
  • Make Room For Daddy - Season 6, Vol. 1
  • The Mighty B - Vol. 1
  • My Wife and Kids - Season 1
  • Oliver Twist - Miniseries
  • The Red Green Show - 2001 Season
  • Spider-Man - The Vulture
  • Summer Heights High - Season 1
  • The Universe - Seasons 1 and 2 Megaset

New TV on DVD releases this week

Golden Age of ComedyHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

Hmmm, a bunch of "Best Of" sets are being released this week. I've never liked this idea (most of these sets don't have episodes that I'd like to see, and I'd like a complete collection), though I guess I can understand why they release them. They want to see if fans are interested and aren't sure if it warrants a whole season being released. Though I'm not sure why shows like Banacek and B.L. Stryker are getting "Best Of" sets since they have already had season sets released.

  • B.L. Stryker - Best Of
  • Banacek - Best Of
  • Beany & Cecil - Classic Collection, Volumes 1 and 2
  • Charles in Charge - Best Of
  • The Crow: Stairway to Heaven - Best Of
  • Curious George - Sails with Pirates and Other Curious Capers
  • Death Note - Vol. 6
  • Dirty Jobs - Collection 3
  • Entourage - Season 4
  • Everybody Hates Chris - Season 3
  • Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids - Halloween
  • The Golden Age of Comedy
  • Heroes - Season 2
  • The Honeymooners - Color, Collection 4
  • NCIS - Season 5 and Seasons 1-5 sets
  • One Tree Hill - Season 5
  • Robson Arms - Season 3
  • The Shield - Season 6
  • Shockwave - Season 1
  • The Untouchables - Season 2, Vol. 2

Sesame Street is going to be awesome - VIDEO

Will Arnett on Sesame StreetThe new season of Sesame Street is right around the corner and, while I normally wouldn't give it a second thought, I am unusually excited right now. No, this isn't a snarky rant about how I've been driven to children's TV because of the sorry state of grown-up programming. Sesame Street's 39th season, starting August 11th, looks like it has a lot of fun lined up not only for the pre-schoolers but parents as well. I already posted Feist's upcoming special take on "1 2 3 4", but I had no idea how many amazing guest appearances were coming. Just check out this star-filled highlight reel after the jump.

Andy DeHart, Shark Week expert: The TV Squad Interview

Great White Shark
Last week I had the pleasure of interviewing Andy DeHart, a shark expert who currently works at the National Aquarium in Washington, D.C. Dehart talked to me about his first experience with sharks (when he was five!), about his interest in conservation of the species, and about Shark Week, Discovery's annual documentary series (in its 21st year this summer). Other than Big Brother, Shark Week is the only reason I turn on the TV in the summer. I was pretty excited to talk to him about this year's event.
