This news has part of me saying "great, this should be fun!" and the other part of me saying, "oh God, please don't have Mr. Slate making a sex tape with Wilma."

Marco Pennette is writing a Broadway musical version of The Flintstones, and this version is supposed to involve modern-day topics such as marriage problems, adoption, and the environment. Now, this could be good, in a Brady Bunch Movie sort of way, if they really play it for laughs. It could be horrible if they don't.

That headline probably won't even make sense to many people. Boomerang? What the hell is that?

Boomerang is a cable network devoted to baby boomers. I don't get it on my cable system, though it certainly sounds like something I'd like to see if they have programming like this. The channel is going to show all 166 episodes of The Flintstones - in order and without commercials - starting on July 4. This is a show I've been meaning to buy on DVD. A lot of people thought it was lame for an animated series, but I didn't watch it for cool animation, it was really a sitcom in cartoon clothing and a lot of fun.

I wonder why they changed the name used in the pilot, The Flagstones? What made them say "let's get rid of the 'flag' and replace it with 'flint'?"

Remember the days when they would take characters from a TV commercial that you would see all year long and then put them in a Christmas-oriented ad around the holiday season? This commercial for Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles will bring back memories for those of a certain age. I'm not certain when this is from, maybe the 1980s? One thing's for certain: they don't even say "Merry Christmas" in the ad. Even back then there was a war on Christmas! Bill O'Reilly was right, those bastards!

It shows Santa coming down the chimney at Fred's house (Wilma and Betty must be out shopping, not sure if this was before Pebble's was born or not), and Fred gives him some Fruity Pebbles, which of course makes Barney jealous until Santa tells them to share. Can someone tell me what the hell Barney is wearing? A dress? Did he get that from Mrs. Claus? And Dino is carolling? I thought he couldn't speak? Is he just going "ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh-ruh?"

Another thing I'm not clear on: what exactly is the timeline that The Flintstones follows? They're from B.C. but they celebrate Christmas? Video after the jump.

Okay, apparently I need to have my eyeballs polished because I've been checking out the Adult Swim schedule grid every day for several weeks and I just now noticed that new episodes of Moral Orel are scheduled to start November 12 at 12:15 am (technically Monday morning). Frankly, I'm surprised to see it back so soon, but I'm definitely not complaining. Will I review these episodes like I did last season? I haven't decided yet, but either way I'll definitely be watching them. Based on the schedule, it looks like Adult Swim will be airing the episodes out of order just like they did last season. Also, since they tend to shuffle their lineup around with little warning, the premiere date could possibly change, so I'll try to stay on top of things for my fellow fanatics.

Adult Swim has been somewhat circumspect about whether or not Moral Orel --the stop-animated double homage to both Davey and Goliath and blasphemy which debuted as a Christmas special last month-- would be picked up as a full series. While tuned in to Adult Swim last night I caught a "bump" which stated that six episodes would be coming soon. Unfortunately, that's all I have to go on. I've scoured the internet and found nothing at all about this, although there is plenty of stuff from earlier in the year, claiming the show was supposed to be picked up in November for TEN episodes. Well, whatever. I enjoyed Moral Orel: The Best Christmas Ever, and I'm looking forward to what they come up with next.
