Grey's Anatomy: Desire

Grey's Anatomy - Desire - S03E21

(S03E21) "There's no fish in my hoo-hoo, but it's certainly not an easy ride." - Meredith

At first I'm not sure I liked this episode and so I did something I don't usually do. I watched it again as soon as I was done viewing it the first time. After that? Wow. For all the naysayers that have been arguing that Grey's has become too soap opera-ish or has lost what it had in season one, this episode has to make you think otherwise. The writing, the intricacies of the plot lines, and the characterization really are still there. It's almost scary how well conceived this episode was because it sets up everything for the final installments of the season.

"Supersoaps" coming to myNetworkTV

Bo Derek of Fashion HouseAs we all get ready to welcome in the new CW network, it stands to reason that the merger must have left a few stations out there holding the bag. What is to become of them? The answer for some is that they will now be a part of News Corporation's myNetworkTV. The network begins airing its two original programs Tuesday, September 5th.

Those programs are Desire and Fashion House. Modeled after the popular telenovelas, each show will run five days a week, Monday through Friday, with a recap on Saturday. Rather than the endless run that normal American soap operas have, the myNetworkTV shows are each planned to run 65 episodes. As they come crashing to what promises to be a hectic conclusion after 13 weeks, two new shows will debut to run for the next 13.

Desire kicks off the night at 8PM. It is the story of brothers Louis and Alex Thomas. On the run from the mob, they make their way to Los Angeles. There, they both fall for the same woman and complications ensue as they deal with that and the mob gets ever closer. Desire is adapted from 2004's Mesa Para Tres (Table For Three).

FOX rescuing its UPN stations

my network tvWhen The CW launches in the fall, there will be a bunch of UPN affiliates out there that lose all their programming. At least ten of those affiliates are owned by FOX, which announced that it will launch its own mini-network on those stations and call it My Network TV. To begin with, FOX will provide two original dramas, called Desire and Secrets,  that will air six nights a week for 13 weeks (like the telenovelas on Univision). The new network launches in major U.S. cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas, on September 5th. The mini-network is going to be run by Roger Ailes, the man responsible for Fox News Channel.
