As
word leaked out that Ben Karlin was going to leave his post as executive producer of
The Daily Show and
The Colbert Report, speculation started swirling. Did Karlin have a fallout from Jon Stewart? Was he suffering from burnout? Was he stepping aside so the show wouldn't lose its valued head writer, David Javerbaum? Since Karlin, Stewart, or Colbert weren't talking, speculation only grew over the weekend.
According to Karlin, who along with Stewart
spoke to Jacques Steinberg of The New York Times, burnout was one factor; helming both shows was an all-consuming job. But his departure came more from a desire to work on other projects, such as a book of essays he's editing called

(S06E22) After all the criticism that's been heaped on the Palladinos lately, from their departure from
Gilmore Girls to the depressing storylines they've written this season, it's time for me to give them some praise. First of all, despite everything, I'm going to miss them; Amy Sherman-Palladino's voice is unique in the TV universe and
GG is not going to be the same without her or her husband Daniel. So I want to thank them for giving me and a loyal fan base an entertaining, funny, and charming show for six years.
As far this episode, one that essentially explodes the world of
GG as we know it, is concerned, I will give AS-P praise for this: Lorelai's look.

to the punch with
the news that Amy
Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino are going to leave
Gilmore Girls at the end of the year, so I didn't
get to post my reaction to the story. Well, I've read
Mike Ausiello's story, digested the comments, and
slept on it. After all that -- and I'm sure you're all on the edge of your seats -- here is what I think of the
