CW not quite ready for The Beautiful Life

Mischa BartonThere has been a delay on the new CW series The Beautiful Life, which is a new drama about a bunch of models sharing a house in New York. It sounds very much like the usual show found on the CW, doesn't it? Anyway, it is executive produced by Ashton Kutcher and stars Mischa Barton (formerly of The O.C.).

While Mischa Barton has been having some personal problems recently, the network claims that the reason behind the nine day delay of the start of production is that some of the sets were not completed on time. This is what they say.

I have nothing against Mischa Barton and I hope she solves whatever problems she is having and goes on to a long and prosperous career. However, I'd have to be pretty naive to think that Barton's emotional issues were not a factor in any delay of the start of her new show.

Law and Order: CI premiere delayed - yet again

Jeff GoldblumWe told you way back in October that Law and Order: CI, which was supposed to start up again in November, had been pushed back until early 2009. Now it has been pushed back even further, to the summer.

No word on what the hold up is this time (nor was there any explanation last time). If you've forgotten the news from several months ago, Chris Noth has been replaced by Jeff Goldblum. He'll be the lead in eight of this season's episodes while veteran star Vincent D'Onofrio will star in the other eight. It's always nice to share.

I wonder how long fans will wait before they say to themselves, "oh, is that show still on?" This is frustrating, because the show had become less ripped-from-the-headlines-ish than its parent show and more interesting.

Stay tuned with TV Squad for more Law and Order: CI info. Maybe in June we'll announce that it has been delayed until the next Presidential Inauguration.

SlingCatcher delayed, still coming sometime this year

SlingCatcherIf you've been waiting patiently to get your hands on a SlingCatcher, the new set top box from the makers of the Slingbox, you might have to wait a little longer. Sling Media had planned to launch the box this quarter. Now Engadget reports that the release date has been pushed back until... well, it's not really clear when it'll be out now. But it should be available sometime in 2008.

The SlingCatcher works as sort of a reverse Slingbox. While the Slingbox lets you stream live and recorded video over the internet from any video source in your home, the SlingCatcher is a set top box that collects web video (including streams from your Slingbox) and shows it on your TV. In other words, it competes with the Apple TV and completes the circle of Slingdom. Plus it looks pretty cool and has a catchy name.

AppleTV launch delayed until mid-March

AppleTVLooks like Apple's running a little behind schedule on getting the AppleTV ready to launch. The device, which allows you to wirelessly stream iTunes content from your Mac or PC to your television set in the other room had been expected to go on sale by the end of February.

Now, Apple is saying the device will be ready toward the middle of next month. Steve Jobs first showed off AppleTV last fall, but the road from working prototype to production unit is often long and slow.

Here's why The Knights of Prosperity has been delayed

The Knights of ProsperityWhen Anna reported on CBS's schedule changes yesterday, she also mentioned that ABC is pushing back the premiere of the highly-anticipated comedy The Knights of Prosperity from its planned premiere on Oct. 17. Now, according to ABC, the show might not appear until mid-season, perhaps as late as January.

So the show must be having problems, right? Wrong, at least not according to the network. ABC thinks the show is so good that they want to promote it outside the craziness of this crowded fall season. "You really need to focus, you need to spend money and you need to surround the audience with these openings," ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson told the Los Angeles Times.

Delay takes swing at Law & Order

Texas Republican Tom Delay is upset over a line from last Wednesday's episode of Law & Order. In the show, one of the detectives investigating the murder of a judge says maybe they should put out an APB for someone in a "Tom Delay t-shirt." The line is a reference to Delay's recent comments regarding judges and their perceived liberal activism.

NBC, to its credit, backed up L&O creator Dick Wolf by saying the show is a fictional drama and viewers know the difference between it and reality. Unfortunately for NBC's ratings, it turns out Delay heard about it from a friend of his wife.
