I have a lot of problems with last night's season/fall finale of Heroes, most of which have already been discussed in Jason's review, in the comments section and elsewhere in the blogosphere. Why didn't Hiro freeze time again when he got into the vault with Adam? Why didn't Peter just stop time when Nathan was shot? Why was Nathan's press conference indoors when he was about to announce he could fly? What's the sense in killing Nathan and not Matt and Peter, when they can just show the world their powers? Why can't Hiro just go back in time to prevent Nathan from being killed, or why don't they just use Claire's blood (or Peter's?) to save him? And on and on and on it goes. I guess that's the problem of introducing time travel and immortality to a story. Anything can happen so it all seems ridiculous. Still, the show is a blast and I'll be back for the third volume.

Heroes wants you to visit YamagatoFellowship.org
The second season's of NBC's hit show Heroes may only begin in a month but that doesn't prevent the nice people behind the show for giving us hints about what is to come. The series just launched YamagatoFellowship.org, a new website linked to the show's mythology. Is Heroes doing too much, too soon?
I was thinking about this the other day. Even though I named Heroes as the best show of the year, I've been worried lately that season two might turn out to be an over-hyped, overdone disaster that will make me tire of it really quickly. I mean, they're adding cast members at an astonishing rate (Kristin Bell, Nichelle Nichols, David Anders, Stephen Tobolowsky, Janel Parrish, Jessica Collins). They're going to have a storyline in another time (Hiro), produced a spinoff mini-series to be directed by Kevin Smith, produced online stories and comics to keep fans entertained and well-fed and gone on a world tour to promote the show. It's really overwhelming, and I hope they're not doing too much, too soon.

More Heroes casting news
Casting news about Heroes have become the trend this summer. The latest is about David Anders and Stephen Tobolowsky. Weeks before Anders makes his first appearance as legendary samurai Takezo Kensei (the season premiere is supposed to explain how come a blond Caucasian man can play a samurai), Michael Ausiello from TV Guide reports that the actor has been promoted to series regular. The role was first announced to be a recurring one with a possibility to become a regular gig. The actor must have made quite an impression for producers to decide to promote him before seeing how fans will respond to both Anders and the character. Alias fans, and I'm one of them, will rejoice at the news of seeing Anders back on the screen in a regular capacity.

Alias' Sark to join Heroes?
Obviously I mean the actor, David Anders. But wouldn't it be beyond cool to see the character of Sark show up on Heroes? Maybe he got some sort of power from being so close to all that Rambaldi business. Maybe he can have the power to impersonate anyone's voice exactly (Anders is actually from Oregon but does a British accent perfectly).
Kristin over on E! is reporting that Anders is under negotiations to join the NBC hit this fall. He would play a new character named Kane (Isabelle has details on the character here), though there are no other details about the character. Of course, it's not a done deal, but it would be fantastic if this actually happened.

Alias spin-off with Sloane, Sark and Peyton?
When ABC decided that this was going to be the last season of
Alias, J.J. Abrams wasn't in on the discussions. It wasn't until after the
decision was made that Abrams was called while filming Mission Impossible 3 in China. While he's not all that surprised
at the decision, he is saddened to see it end . . . make that "somewhat" end. Abrams has been discussing the
possibility of doing something (spin-off? TV movie?) involving the characters Sark (David Anders), Peyton (Amy Acker)
and Sloane (Ron Rifkin). Y'know, I might be OK with that idea, but only if they do something fresh with it; the whole
Alias vibe to me is stale.
