FOX's More To Love looks like every other dating show, only bigger

Last night we had the season finale of The Bachelorette, and tonight we have the debut of what a lot of people are dubbing The Fatchelor. It's FOX's More To Love. Here's a preview.

It might try to tell you it's more "real" because the women aren't skinny supermodels, but it's just as dumb and shallow. The more shows there are like this the more I think the world is coming to an end. Is this guy courting these women or trying to convince them to buy some product he's selling? I keep waiting for the Powerpoint presentation.

Chelsea Handler rips apart The Cougar

The Cougar is in the running for Worst TV Show of 2009 honors in my mind, so it's good to see that late night host Chelsea Handler feels the same way. Here she is doing a little rant about the show (some suggestive scenes and jokes included, so put your headphones on if you're at work).

I'll say this again: isn't it awful how low TV Land has gone? It's weird that I can watch a great Andy Griffith Show marathon, immediately followed by The Cougar. There's something wrong there. (Video also here if the one below doesn't work for you.)

Wait, FOX actually has a show called The Fatchelor this summer?

FOXLeave it to FOX to do something like this. Mike Fleiss, the guy behind ABC's The Bachelor, will make another single guy dating show (this time starring a fat guy) called The Fatchelor. It's slated to air this summer but might be pushed to the fall.

Something tells me that a show titled The Fatchelorette would cause controversies and get various groups in an uproar, but having a fat guy in it is funny! Will he be the only fat one? Will the women all be hot and make this into sort of a reality show version of According To Jim or Still Standing? Wasn't there a prank reality show several years back that did something like this?

What other network show would you like to see get, um, bigger?

Lifetime greenlights Gay, Straight or Taken?

Lifetime TelevisionAs if the dating world wasn't already a beast for single, heterosexual broads, Lifetime has decided to rub it in with reality dating show Gay, Straight or Taken? debuting on January 8th. Created by the minds behind Deal or No Deal, Gay, Straight or Taken? sends one woman on three dates. If she can choose the single, straight man from the bunch, than she wins a prize for the two of them. If she chooses the gay guy or the taken guy, the man she picks gets the loot.

According to the show's producers, Gay, Straight or Taken? will turn "stereotypes on its head." Lifetime nor reality television are exactly stereotype busters so let's just go ahead and handicap the show. Ladies, the most desirable, likable guy is the gay one. The one who comes on the strongest is the married one, and the one who you would never in a million years dream of dating because he's too nice is the single one.

Lauren Graham to produce slate of shows

Lauren GrahamSister is doing it for herself. When Gilmore wraps and the Studio 60 guest spots dry up, Lauren Graham will be able to fall back on her production chops. Graham has unveiled a slate of shows that she'll be executive producing with Warner Brothers Television under the banner of Good Game Entertainment. Good Game Vice-President Kathy Ebel is a college friend of Graham's, and the Warner Brothers' partnership is good so long as Gilmore Girls is on the air.

What's on the Good Game girls slate so far? First up is an international auction house-set dramedy called Objects of Desire. The show, which has been sold to The CW, is an ensemble show that promises a mix of "juicy workplace soap and behind-the-scenes intrigue" as well as a procedural element that follows an art object's history over the course of the show.
