We mentioned that this was coming a few months ago, but now it's official: DarynKagan.com launches today.
It's run by ex-CNN newsanchor Daryn Kagan (which is a good thing, or they'd have to come up with a new URL) and will feature only inspirational, uplifting, positive stories. Now, I don't see anything wrong with inspirational, uplifting, and/or positive stories, but I think that it's less a "news" site than a web site with positive features on it. Though I have to admit I'm very curious about three stories that are coming up in the next several days, including one titled "International Breast Milk Banks."
Some of the story categories include "Animals," "Heroism," "Kids," "Love," and "Over 60." I'm assuming the Over 60 category is about people over the age of 60 who are enjoying life and not about people who drive over 60 mph. And what if there's a story about a puppy that saves a kid and a grandparent from a fire? What category would that go in?

This has to be one of the funniest, though embarrassing, live news bloopers I've seen in a long, long time. Though I guess if it wasn't embarrassing for someone it wouldn't have been as funny...
While CNN was showing footage of President Bush giving a speech, the audio that viewers heard was anchor Kyra Phillips. No, not at the anchor desk, but in the CNN ladies room! You can hear Phillips talking to another CNN staff member, and even hear her "zip up" at one point.
But the most embarrassing part might be the part where Phillips insults her sister-in-law...before anchor Daryn Kagan jumps in. Video after the jump!

Well, it looks like the relentless drum of depressing news put forth by the 24-hour news networks has claimed its first victim. Daryn Kagan, the late-morning anchor at CNN,
has decided to leave the network after 12 years to start -- wait for it --
DarynKagan.com.
Whoa! What the hell is she thinking, right? But here's the kicker: the site, debuting in November, will only report "good news". Wow. Sounds ambitious, considering the fact that no one ever seems to want to read good news and all. But, she has an upbeat attitude about it, as she told her colleagues in an e-mail announcing her departure: The site "will be an inspirational, online community dedicated to the radical idea that the world is a good place. Sounds different, I know. It is."
Hm. Maybe her time dating Rush Limbaugh that finally sent her over the edge. Well, we wish Daryn luck. She's gonna need it.
