The Twilight guy reviews the new Harry Potter movie

I'm not even going to pretend that this clip is particularly funny (though I did laugh at some of the inane names of magic spells that Jimmy Fallon comes up with), but I think it's worth watching to see some of the bizarre stuff that Fallon is doing on Late Night. I've seen some of the Harry Potter movies but I haven't seen Twilight, so I'm not sure if Fallon is making references to the movie or what ("bothered?").

Extras: The Complete Second Season - DVD review

Extras Season 2Yes, I know it's been a couple of months since the second season of Extras came out on DVD. But since I reviewed Season One earlier this year, I figured it would only be fair to look over Season Two, even if it's only for anal completist reasons (Of course, our UK Bureau -- otherwise known as "Martin Conaghan" -- reviewed the series when it aired on the BBC; his reviews start 1/4 of the way down this page).

From everything I heard and read, the second season of the Ricky Gervais / Stephen Merchant comedy was better than the first season. Of course, given the high standards set by Gervais and Merchant, that was saying a lot. After watching Season Two, I have to say that I agree with those assessments, but not for the reason that you think.

Harry Potter and the Curse of the CNN Pranksters - VIDEO

The hell?

Did anyone else see this the other day? I was watching CNN and they had a report about Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe doing Equus on stage. They showed one of the controversial photos while the entertainment reporter was giving the story, and then the next photo they showed was of a guy who looked to be around 40, sitting naked in some serious pose, reading a book about wrestling icon Jerry Lawler. And they kept the photo on there for a lot longer than they should have. The reporter never stopped talking and never explained what happened, he just kept going and then handed things back to the main anchor. Very odd.

TV's Top 5!: Isaiah's in rehab but what's with Harry Potter?

Chandra WilsonYou are not a true tabloid celebrity unless all of your roads lead towards a one way ticket to rehab. Celebrities wear their Chanel sunglasses and hats low, like a badge of courage, as they are driven in their chauffeured SUV's through the Mojave Desert on their way to places with names more appropriate for a nursery school than to a place for those down the downward spiral of celebrity excess.

Common pre-requisites for rehab include an undying love for cocaine, a struggle with food or a co-dependency on the bottle.

But say you don't have a problem with any of the above and find yourself being publicly scrutinized by society who seek a social remedy for your reprehensible behavior on national television?

We make foul discriminatory language a new reason for rehab and make Isaiah Washington our example.

Unfortunately for Washington, one of the side effects of going to rehab for foul language is being the butt of many jokes, from Wanda Sykes on Ellen to even your own co-worker at The SAG Awards.

It's only a matter of time before we find Harry Potter in rehab. Let me be the first to make this prediction after his...

Gervais hits up Hollywood's A-List for Extras

Ricky GervaisA third season of Ricky Gervais' Extras is in the works. This is good news for Gervais fans as the show was rumored to be getting a self-imposed axe after season two a la The Office. But, Gervais is back, and he's got a dilly of guest-star wish list.

For season three, he's looking to snag Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis, Dick van Dyke, Mickey Rooney and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Considering that the show has managed to score Ben Stiller, Kate Winslet, Samuel L. Jackson, David Bowie, Orlando Bloom and David Bowie in the past, Gervais shouldn't have any trouble. My personal fave was the episode with Daniel Radcliffe and Diana Rigg. Seeing Harry Potter send a "johnny" flying into Dame Rigg's hair is worth the price of premium cable. And, as far as celebrities taking themselves down a peg, going on Gervais' Extras seems a far better tactic than hosting SNL or waiting around to screw-up and then make a public apology on The Tonight Show. At least with Gervais, you know that you'll actually come off as funny.

Daniel Radcliffe to star in made-for-TV movie

daniel radcliffeIn what can only be interpreted as an attempt to diversify his acting portfolio, Daniel Radcliffe will star in a made-for-television movie for British network ITV. The actor, whom I will forever identify as Harry Potter, will play the son of real-life author Rudyard Kipling ("The Jungle Book", "Gunga Din").

Called My Boy Jack, the television movie is about John Kipling's death in World War I during the Battle of Loos. After his son's death, Kipling wrote "If any question why we died/Tell them, because our fathers lied". Makers of the television movie say the WWI storyline will have present-day applications to the Iraq war.
