I mean seriously, what the frak? Why the frak do we have to wait until frakking 2009 for the final frakking season of
Battlestar frakking
Galactica. Those motherfrakking skinjobs, and I know they're Cylons or they wouldn't do this to us, really like to frakking torture us diehard frakking fans, don't they. Frakkers! Wow, that does make it incredibly frakking easy to drop frakking curse words all the frakking time without really frakking cussing. How frakking liberating is that!
But back to business. Executive producer Ronald D. Moore spoke at a Wednesday night screening of this Friday's summer finale and broke the news that the remainder of this
fourth and final season of BSG probably wouldn't air until early 2009. The show just doesn't want to have to face off against the new fall slates on the networks or football and baseball, which I guess I can understand. Why not wait until January so all you have to deal with is those crappy shows nobody watches like
American Idol and
24? And nobody will be interested in the build-ups to the season finales of shows like
Lost and
Heroes. It's a frakking no-brainer!

Last night, SciFi aired the first promo for the upcoming
Battlestar Galactica movie and today it's up
on YouTube. We all know
Battlestar Galactica: Razor is about the Pegasus and what happened to it between the time the Cylons started a war and it met up with the Galactica.
Our favorite characters (Starbuck, Admiral Adama, Apollo) are also in the movie so it appears to start as the war with the Cylons begins and then the Pegasus somehow gets separated from the rest of the group. Of course, the promo doesn't reveal much, but it was enough to
wet whet my appetite for some new BSG. I'm particularly anxious to see another side of Admiral Cain, who was pretty rotten once she appeared on BSG. Also... notice all the female soldiers on the Pegasus.
Battlestar Galactica: Razor airs on Sci Fi in November.
Video is after the jump:

Okay, we're back with the second half of Wednesday night's
Battlestar extravaganza, and I think I've recovered most of my memories, got the feeling back in my writing hand, and decided I wasn't Cylon. For now.
After Lucy Lawless was done loosely emceeing the event, they opened up the floor to questions from the audience. Now, keep in mind that this event was really for the fans, so I expected a lot of "Um ... in Episode 9 from last season, Starbuck clearly had her pilot's wings on upside down ... does that have special meaning?" type questions, but thankfully all of the questions were stuff we thought we'd be asking ourselves, and only one person got up and asked for a job.

If you have not seen Sunday night's kickass season finale, STOP READING NOW. (But come back after you see it, because you will have questions)
*MAJOR SPOILERS*
Battlestar Galactica executive producer Ron Moore
answered a few questions from a reporter at Pittsburgh's Post-Gazette that clear up some of the confusion from
last night. For instance?
Yes, they are Cylons. Chief, Saul, Sam and Tori heard the music when they reached a certain point in space, signaling their awareness of who they are. Moore says, "These are four of the final five, which puts them in a separate category from everybody else." Who is Cylon #5? Moore doesn't say. But he does promise that, next season, we'll get to discover the backstory for the new Cylons as they try to figure out how this could happen.

In what seems like a no-brainer idea, NBC Universal is partnering with Sierra Online on a
high-def, space combat,
Battlestar Galactica game. Who doesn't want to fly a Viper or a Raider? Players will be able to choose which side they fight for while taking part in both single-player, and multi-player, versions of the game.
The big news of the announcement is that the game will be available in the Xbox Live Marketplace. This is the first original Hollywood-licensed property for the still growing service. To kick off the promotion, fans can now get
Battlestar gamer pics and theme packs from the Marketplace. Thankfully, for those of you that haven't jumped on the 360 bandwagon yet, the game will also be available for the PC and downloadable from SciFi.com, NBC.com, and Sierra.com. It is slated for a fall release.
Sierra will be adding sound from the series and was able to visit the set to get the look and details right. They also have secured likeness rights to talent from the show, and mention the possibility of the actors providing radio chatter for the in game play. The article also talks about the possibility of adding episodes of the show to the Xbox service.

It looks like someone from
Battlestar Galactica made
this video for the cast and crew. It's a compilation of outtakes and spoofs from Season 3. It's 13 minutes long and it includes clips from other movies that some cast members were in-- for example, Mary McDonnell as Stands with a Fist in
Dances with Wolves and Katee Sackhoff in some weird, very bad horror movie. What I like about bloopers is the way it humanizes some of the more serious characters. What's funnier than watching Admiral Adama break into laughter or stink up the set with a fart?
Oh, and there's a "Sploiler Alert" (their spelling, not mine) that's fake. It's just meant to set up the next clip so don't get all mad at me like I ruined the ending or something... because it's a joke!!!
Video is after the jump.

I wish I was
bored patient skilled enough to create an awesome pumpkin like the one the guys over at
Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories created. They have a step-by-step guide to carving your very own Cylon-O-Lantern, a la
Battlestar Galactica. The actual carving part is easy, but, of course, there are also electronics involved. The evil geniuses recommend fashioning a KITT (as in
Knight Rider) scanning circuit to create your Cylon pumpkin. And be sure to use a giant pumpkin for better results. I wonder if they're also sporting blonde wigs and tight red dresses this Halloween?

Whoa! What's with all the
Battlestar Galactica posts today? You'd think we're fans or something. Sheesh!
This latest little tidbit is too good to pass up. There's a
BSG music video over at the SciFi Channel's website. It doesn't say who sings it, but it's a goofy little comparison of the old
Battlestar Galactica versus the new one. There are a couple of cute lines like, "Apollo's hair looks like a shampoo commercial," and "You're full of Cylon clones and those old fashioned phones." I don't watch SciFi often enough to know whether the music video is actually getting some play on the cable channel.
Enjoy!

A few people pointed out in the
season premiere review of
Battlestar Galactica that Jammer might very well be a not-as-of-yet revealed Cylon. The tell-tale proof seems to be during the NCP graduation ceremony, where Duck detonates a bomb planted on himself that decimates everything and everyone in the area (or at least a great lot of them). The image above is taken from that very graduation, where Duck passes by Jammer. Obviously by the look on Jammer's face, he recognizes Duck, but does he figure out what's going on and hoof it out of there? Well, the next image may say he didn't.

There's a
fairly logical rumor brewing that NBC is in the final stages of a plan to put
Battlestar Galactica on its network. It's no surprise, really. NBC/Universal owns the SciFi Channel, which airs
BSG. Plus, it's a huge success with viewers and critics. Speculators put the show on NBC at the mid-season, directly after sci-fi hit
Heroes, with
Studio 60 finding a new time slot on the NBC primetime schedule.
However, a little phone call over to NBC Universal shoots down that rumor. Jessica Nevarez in the publicity department tells us, "It is an online rumor that someone started and it is absolutely false."

Everybody's wondering whether BSG is going to suck this year since the season finale seriously altered the direction of the show. You can get a sneak peek of the season three premiere (which airs on Friday) over at
SciFi's website and decide for yourself. The first 13 minutes of the episode, or the "First Act", is available for viewing. It basically answers the question, "What will happen next?" You'll see how the humans and Cylons are living/interacting on New Caprica. I'll just say that everybody seems to be working on their own method of survival... and Starbuck seriously kicks some ass.
Based on just those 13 minutes, I'd say BSG fans don't have anything to worry about. Then again, I liked the turn the show took at the end of last season and I like what I see so far.
*The video played for me in Internet Explorer, but had trouble with it in Firefox.

I guess I could just devote my evenings to MyNetworkTV's
telenovas but that would be too easy. From the NFL, to New Caprica, Star's Hollow, the Sunset strip, Rockefeller Plaza, and west Baltimore, here's where I expect to park my butt this fall season:
Sunday5:15 pm (West Coast)
Sunday Night Football (NBC). John Madden.
10 pm
The Wire (HBO). The best ... blah blah blah, etc. (Actually, I'll most likely catch these earlier in the week
On Demand.)

Now, this is pretty nifty!
If you ever wanted to see your favorite Battlestar Galactica characters as they would look in the universe of The Simpsons, here's your chance. Artist Dylan Meconis has produced a number of sketches portraying all of your favorite BSG personalities and placed them on her website at LiveJournal under the heading Battlestar Galacticsimpsons. They're all there: from Admiral Adama and President Roslin enjoying an awkward moment of romance, to Boomer with her Cylon clone friends.
Actually, it all began with a picture of Six and Baltar (the picture you see to the right) in what looks like some sort of seductive dance. That image was so popular that Meconis decided to work in the entire cast. The response to her work has been very positive, with some commenters saying that Matt Groeing should call her directly and hire her on the spot. Hey, The Simpsons will be around for eternity and I'm sure they could use some new blood when the other artists die off of sheer exhaustion.
For more of Meconis' work, and well as information about her, please see her Quirkybird website.

When you see Lt.
Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on the season premiere of Battlestar Galactica this fall you'll notice a few
things. First, her hair will be very, very short. Second, she will not be with the same man she was with at the end of
last season.
This is according to Katee Sackhoff, who portrays Starbuck on the very popular Sci-Fi Channel
series. In an interview on Zap2it.com,
Sackhoff reveals that she will go through some very tough times in the first four episodes of the new season. By the
fifth episode she will recommit herself to her military career and sport a nifty crew cut to go along with her new
attitude.
Starbuck will also have a new love interest other than the man who she married during the second
season finale. It's unsure if Samuel T. Anders (Michael Trucco) dies of the pneumonia he suffers during the finale, or
while he resists the Cylon occupation.
Production on the third season of Battlestar Galactica began on
April 10 and will continue until December, with the Sci-Fi Channel premiere in October.

As
Battlestar Galactica wraps up
its second season tomorrow night with a 90-minute finale, its cast is just about to start shooting season three. Just
to keep all of us fans sane, Sci Fi has already announced that
Galactica will return to its Friday night
timeslot in October, although a specific date has not been revealed. The network has ordered 20 episodes.
We already know that Lucy Lawless
will return as cylon for a 10-episode arc next season. It looks like we'll get to see most of the major cast members
again next season, too. Filming of season three of BSG starts in April in Vancouver, B.C.
