Angry Torchwood fans threaten writers with bodily harm

Torchwood: Children of EarthIf you're a regular viewer of the BBC sci-fi series Torchwood, you're more than aware of the recent dust up between fans and writers over a major character death in this past season's finale. Angry fans immediately ran to message boards to express their displeasure with the direction the show has taken, but now, that angry fan reaction seems to have taken a sudden and serious turn for the worse.

Before we get too far into this, I'm putting a spoiler warning on this post, even though the episode in question has already aired in the U.S. For anyone still saving it on their DVR, beware. It's a biggie.

Rob Zombie hosts TCM late nights

bride of the monsterRob Zombie will be hosting TCM Underground starting Friday, October 13. The first movie to be shown will be Ed Wood's classic trainwreck, Plan 9 from Outer Space, followed by another Wood film, Bride of the Monster. The movies, according to the official site, will start "around 2 am." Other cult movies to be shown in future episodes include The Crazies, Tokyo Drifter, Dementia 13, The Honeymoon Killers and Lonely Hearts. If you're a fan of these memorable midnight movies, or you just like to talk back to the screen a la Mystery Science Theater 3000, you might want to check these out. Plus, they're on at just the right time so you can enjoy them after stumbling home from a night of heavy partying, or from a night of helping elderly people reach items on the top shelf at Walgreens. You know, whatever it is you do with your Friday nights.

Jim Belushi: brainwashed and naked

jim belushiWell, maybe. Rick Ross over at Cult News is reporting that Jim Belushi's new book, Real Men Don't Apologize, may borrow from the teachings of a controversial guru named Justin Sterling (real name, Arthur ''Artie'' Kasarjian). Sterling runs an expensive seminar where the main focus is that gender roles have become confused, with women becoming more masculine and men becoming more feminine. Personally, I thought this theory was a load of horse hockey until last night when I inexplicably gave birth to a baby girl. Apparently Sterling was really onto something.

Anyway, naysayers dismiss Sterling as being misogynistic, and teaching that a woman's only goal in a relationship is to garner power and resources. Men, on the other hand, marry for love. Again, I say that's a load of bull, and only describes four out of my last six relationships (but I kid). Anyway, the most interesting (or terrifying) thing to come from this is that apparently these seminars end with the men stripping naked as part of a ritual and being videotaped. I'm guessing there may be some correlation between Sterling's hatred of women and his desire to videotape naked men, but I'll let you suss that one out yourselves.

CW network finds its first victim

The inevitable has happened. With the merging of UPN and WB as one network, some things will have to go. After all, there are only so many hours in the day. The first show to fall victim to the merge is Cult, which was in development. The CW just announced that it will not be needing its services. What a bummer for the creators of the show, who were probably ecstatic two weeks ago when WB picked it up. It is was about a television program that mysteriously manipulates its viewers.

And if you're wondering what that means for Aquaman, you can relax. WB ordered the drama pilot before the networks merged, but The CW is reportedly still backing the Smallville spin-off.
