(S06E07) I think this was probably one of the best episodes of The Dead Zone ever. I loved it. But before I talk about that, I want to talk about the fact that I am really enjoying the fact that the show seems to be doing "covers" or remakes of classic movies. In this case, it would be the movie Coma, which was about a plot to deliberately put patients into comas in order to harvest their organs. That is exactly where I thought this episode was headed. But of course, it steered off the tracks and deviated into its own little denouement instead.coma-related stories

Scrubs: My No Good Reason

(S06E14) Here's the scenario: We all knew that the Scrubs crew was going to kill off one of its long-running cast members. They tried to fake us out by making Jordan bed-ridden after pre-natal surgery, but we weren't fooled (I mean, even Bill Lawrence doesn't have the balls to kill of his own wife).

Meredith Grey looks awfully good... for a zombie
One of the reasons why I stopped reviewing Grey's Anatomy was because that it just plain tired me out. With so many characters and storylines to keep track of, it became very difficult to cover them all in my reviews. Another reason was that the increasingly soapy melodrama was wearing me down, a notion that was confirmed to me last week when George and Izzie drunkenly slept together at the end of the episode (Though it did give birth to Jonathan's clever use of the name "Gizzie").But what also got to me about the show was its complete lack of medical realism. Yes, I know it's a TV show and it doesn't have to be hyper-real, but in the day and age of ER and reality medical shows on TLC, you need to come somewhat closer to medical realism than, say, Marcus Welby, M.D. did 35 years ago.
The last straw on this front was when I saw Meredith Grey at the beginning of last week's episode. Despite the fact that she was clinically dead for what seemed like hours, she came out of it not only OK, but prettier than ever!

Desperate Housewives: Sweetheart, I Have to Confess
(S03E06) This episode was absolutely delicious -- like the sushi you enjoy the half hour before you figure out that it was bad bad bad and that you are going to suffer for a long time (I am referring to rumors about next week's episode. But as I have not seen it yet, I will refrain from repeating them here).Let me start by doing a bit of psychoanalysis on Susan. Is she just the type of woman who cannot stand on her own two feet without a man, or what? Her love for Mike is just over (snap!) the minute she finds him in bed with Edie? He is a recovering coma patient and Edie is manipulating him-- if Susan really loved him, I think she would cut him a little slack. But how could she know that he was about to start regaining his memory (and Edie's nurse costume would be the key!)?

Desperate Housewives: Like It Was
(S03E04) Well, this was certainly a fun week on Wisteria Lane! I love the ending premise that no matter what is going on, we can write our own histories. Now, I know what you're thinking: That is also a phenomenon commonly known as denial. But it can also be known as saving face and muddling through.Continue reading Desperate Housewives: Like It Was
Desperate Housewives: A weekend in the country
(S03E03) Okay, I am already getting tired of the inconsistency with this show: Either be a realistic show with some pithy insights into life, or be campy. Do you get to have it both ways? I guess so. But it drives me a little batty. Having said that, I will say, though, that even though I didn't watch the first two seasons (in the interest of full disclosure), that I'm now hooked on the show. Just because it's inconsistent doesn't mean it's not entertaining or compelling.Continue reading Desperate Housewives: A weekend in the country
