In Plain Sight: To Serge with Love

IPS Mary(S01E10) What does Mary expect? I mean, really, what does she expect! Okay, before we get to the gory details, let's talk about the case of the week.

Remember the Russian girl from the pilot? Natasha with the new boobs -- thanks to the U.S. government, our tax dollars -- has gotten a job at Headlights (nee Hooters) and has hooked up with a new guy.

Turns out he's Marshall's charge, another program member, Serge. The problem is not just the huge coincidence that they've hooked up, it's that she's a witness and he's a felon, they cannot stay together.

In Plain Sight: Don of the Dead

Don of the dead(S01E08) In what might have been one of the stranger episodes, there was a point in the voiceover where Mary comments her clients, Ruth and Don. They're devout Catholics, but they hate each other and want to split. They don't because they cannot get an annulment. When Mary urges them to just get a divorce, saying that as a Catholic she understand them, they say they'll continue to suffer because it's God's will. That's when Mary's VO is, "Okay, too weird for me."

That's how I felt about this show. While it was an interesting examination of a couple facing a dilemma while at the same time being in Witness Protection, there were elements that made me cringe.

Intervention is back for a fifth season

InterventionA&E is bringing back its award-winning documentary series Intervention for a fifth season. The series follows people who are estranged from the friends and family and in personal crisis because of their addiction to drugs, alcohol or other compulsive behaviors. At the end of each episode, the addict is surprised with an intervention led by family, close friends and one of these experts: Jeff VanVonderen, Candy Finningan or Ken Seeley.

The season premiere will profile Chad, a gifted athlete who suffers from an addiction to crack cocaine. Chad, once a part of Lance Armstrong's cycling team, now spends his days panhandling, abusing drugs, and drinking. Also on the slate for later this season is Intervention: After Treatment. This one-hour special will feature a panel of past addicts brought together in a Los Angeles studio for a candid discussion about how the intervention changed their lives.

Intervention returns on Monday June 16th at 9 pm. ET/PT on A&E.

CSI's Gary Dourdan avoids jail time

Gary DourdanOn Monday, April 28, CSI star Gary Dourdan was arrested in Palm Springs, California. He was asleep in his car and when a police officer approached, he found Dourdan disoriented. The actor was arrested after the cop found cocaine, heroin, Ecstacy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia in the car. Despite pleading guilty to drug possession today, Dourdan will not have to do any jail time. In fact, in the deal his lawyer struck with prosecutors, Gary will get treatment for his drug problems. Basically, he lucked out.

"Once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed," said his lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, in a statement to The Associated Press. Dourdan won't have to do any time in a drug rehab facility or behind bars, so all things considered, he's very, very fortunate. He could have faced up to three years or more in jail .

Gary has already departed CSI, and in the season finale, his character was seemingly killed in a point blank shooting. However, when Jorja Fox returns for the fall premiere, Dourdan is reportedly in the show. And not as a ghost. So, now that he won't be doing time, he'll have time to film scenes for CSI and, presumably, wrap up the unfinished business of the CSI crew exposing the corrupt under sheriff.

Jon Lovitz beats up Andy Dick

Andy DickA lot of people have wanted to do this for a long time, and now Jon Lovitz has done it. It also brings up something from the past I wasn't aware of.

At L.A.'s Laugh Factory the other night, Lovitz and Andy Dick got into an argument about Phil Hartman's death and Andy Dick's drug use. Five months before Brynn Hartman shot Phil and herself to death, Dick allegedly gave her cocaine at a house party that Lovitz also attended. Brynn Hartman had been sober for ten years, and now Lovitz blames Dick giving her the cocaine as the reason why she got hooked again and killed Hartman and herself five months later.

Maureen McCormick admits she was a coke addict

Maureen McCormickI'm sorry, but the line that keeps going through my head is "Oh my nose! Oh my nose!"

Former Brady Bunch star Maureen McCormick (aka Marcia Brady) has admitted that not only was she bulimic after the show ended in 1974 and she went back to high school, but that the guy she was dating at the time introduced her to cocaine. She says that she became an addict because of her addictive personality, and actually went through several relapses before getting clean through "therapy and faith." I sense a book coming from this.

Good for her for getting through it, but she should have listened to mom, because mom always said, don't do coke in the house.

UK Big Brother creators planning Rock Star Rehab

Pete DohertyMaybe it's our culture's litigiousness that inhibits American tabloids. Don't get me wrong. American tabloids, paparazzi and reality shows will definitely be held up by future archaeologists as evidence of the rapid decline of our civilization, but it is the British equivalent of these outlets that get the high marks for tastelessness. Case in point, the producers of the UK's Big Brother have announced plans for another reality outing - Rock Stars in Rehab. (Technically, it's the Dutch company Endemol producing the show, but it's being made for British TV.)

The company has approached high profile heroin addict Pete Doherty, the crack-addicted Dominic Masters of The Others and ex-Celeb Big Brother contestant Donny Tourette to appear in the series. The show would essentially lock all these addicts in a house together and film them 24-7. Critics have chastised Endemol for "using drug problems as entertainment and treating addiction like a joke." Really, if you want to be entertained by a bunch of recovering heroin addicts, rent Trainspotting.

The Daily Show: November 28, 2006

Jon StewartHappy 44th birthday, Jon! As if tumbling into his mid-forties wasn't already stressful enough, Jon was reminded of his continued journey into seniority when an audience member informed him that it was her birthday as well... her 18th birthday. Aww, poor Jonny Stew is feeling the pressures of time. Well, for what it's worth, I think he still looks great.

Maybe he was still kind of feeling weird about getting old or he felt nervous about the night's guest, but Jon seemed really giggly. The first ten minutes of the show just felt odd.

And now, Rosie blows a snot rocket - VIDEO

RosieWow, daytime television is such a parade of grace and decorum nowadays, isn't it? You can spend your mornings watching the obnoxious Dr. Phil or the fake crazies on Jerry Springer, then maybe the vile Maury Povich or the dirty-laundry showcase of Divorce Court.

And you can switch over to ABC later in the morning and watch The View. Now, we've talked at length about the show, about Elisabeth, about Star Jones, about Barbara Walters. But nothing can prepare you for what happened the other day on the show: Rosie O'Donnell snorting Cocaine (the drink, folks, the drink) and then blowing snot.

I kid you not.

To paraphrase Ron Burgundy, you stay classy Rosie O'Donnell. (Video after the jump)

Huff: Black Shadows

Showtime; Huff; Oliver Platt as Russell Tupper(S02E12) And thus begins the downfall of Russell Tupper. We've watched him destroy his own body with drugs since day one and now finally, it seems that Russell might be in a position where he absolutely, positively has to clean himself up. As if Kelly being pregnant with his child wasn't enough. The man is a wreck and it's about time something happened. The question that remains is will he rise to the challenge?

More on this after I lay out everything else first because next week's finale is going to be one helluva storm.

Saved by the Bell star sues National Enquirer

lark voorhies; saved by the bellAccording to TMZ.com, Lark Voorhies is suing the National Enquirer over a story it ran last year claiming she was a coke head. Voorhies, now 32, played Lisa Turtle on Saved by the Bell from 1989 to 1993. She has appeared in a long line of television roles since then, but, from her IMDB bio, it appears she hasn't had much work since 2002.

Apparently, "a friend" told the tabloid that Voorhies had a cocaine addiction and was bipolar. In a court filing yesterday, Voorhies said the allegations are false and asked for unspecified punitive damages. She claims the article cost her several jobs and humiliated her.

The O.C.: The Secrets and Lies

For the record, I don't think Volchok is that gross. In fact, he's a pretty good looking guy. I don't think he deserves the "ew" that Summer gives him. (But she does pass out the ew's pretty easily.) I'm not so crazy about his drug problem, but I can understand why Marissa finds him attractive. He's got that motorcycle and no discernible responsibilities. Plus, he looks like he could be good in bed. He seems like he'd be a very attentive lover.  And, it appears that is what poor Marissa is looking for....attention.

Kate Moss video turned over to police

That infamous video of supermodel Kate Moss snorting cocaine has been turned over to police, according to Yahoo News. Moss lost several contracts after the photos of her using cocaine surfaced, but has been making a comeback of late, with three magazine covers - including Vogue -  and a TV ad for Virgin Mobile, since the scandal broke. An unidentified senior staffer at The Daily Mirror said the tabloid turned the video over to police only after a court order. .
