Mad Men: Ladies Room

(S01E02) "I can't tell you about my childhood. It will ruin the first part of my novel." - Don Draper
Is it possible to fall in love with a TV show? I don't mean a show that you really like and respect and put on your TiVo season pass, I mean a show you actually want to date and kiss and walk hand in hand with on the beach? Mad Men is that show for me. I'm even in love with the credits, a montage of black and white graphical images of buildings and people and subtle, sly music.
I also like how this show is set in 1960. It's firmly set in the attitudes of the 1950s but there are more than enough hints that the "60s" that we all know is coming fast. And these people are trying to prepare for it (some a lot more than others, of course).

Should they ban smoking on TV?
So Disney says that they're not going to have anyone smoking in their future movies. I guess that means we won't see Toy Story 4: Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em. But it got me thinking: will we see a ban of cigarette smoking on TV too?
Of course, you don't see much smoking on TV shows nowadays. Cigarette commercials were banned years ago, and you never see someone smoking on a talk show (I watched an old Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder online the other day and everyone was smoking) or a sitcom (unless it's a "very special episode" about the dangers of smoking, and those are probably herbal cigarettes). Once in a while you'll see a cigar or a random cigarette on a drama (Matt Albie smoked on Studio 60).
But could they ban smoking on TV altogether?

You are f@cked, and you are f@cking us. Kill yourself. It's the only way to save your f@cking soul. Kill yourself...quit putting a goddamn dollar sign on every f@cking thing on this planet."

NewsRadio: Smoking
(S01E03) Another funny episode, as a new no smoking ordinance in the office causes problems for Bill, who smokes like a chimney.
