Ol' McMartha has a farm, ee-ay, ee-ay-oh!

Martha StewartOh, boy, I can't wait! Finally, after all this time we're going to get to go behind the gates, into the exclusive, much-discussed but rarely filmed Martha Stewart estate. Actually, not the whole estate, but part of it. On her syndicated show, Martha Stewart's 153-acre Bedford, New York farm will be on display in the season ahead.

When the show returns with new episodes on September 15, Ms. Martha will share all the fun stuff she grows and prunes and plants. You know what this means, don't you? Compost heap! Seriously, Martha believes in natural recycling.

There will also be her state-of-the-art greenhouses and her extensive flower and vegetable gardens. Over a hundred guests will join Martha on her tour of the farm.

Jamie Oliver: Killer of cute baby chicks - VIDEO

Jamie OliverYou're probably not going to see this on Martha Stewart.

British chef Jamie Oliver made a point recently about the way that chickens (and other animals) are treated and killed in the manufacture and processing of food. Oliver has been an activist for years and really wants people to understand where their food comes from. He brought out a bunch of fluffy, cute baby chicks and let a studio audience pet them and get to see how they cute they were. Then he took the baby chicks and gassed them, live on stage. Then he fed one to a big snake.

It's a little disconcerting, with the wacky music and the audience oooooing and ahhhhhhing. Then the killing comes and the audience cries (though I wonder if they know that you have to kill chickens and cows and other animals you see dancing in Pixar films to make the food we love to eat). Video after the jump (though you won't actually get to see the snake eat the chick, you ghouls).

By sheer coincidence, I'm having chicken tonight.

My Name Is Earl: Born a Gamblin' Man

(S02E09) I was very surprised by the storyline of Randy going to profess his love for Catalina. I have been under the impression that Earl and Catalina would eventually hook up, so I'm not quite sure how this is going to turn out. It was good to see the more "human" side of Randy come out. He is definitely in love with Catalina, but I still think that he and his brother will be competing to win her heart. I'm also quite sure that people all over America will be laying down bubble wrap in honor of their objects of affection.

Of course, it woujld help if Catalina would remain in the country and not be deported for entering the country illegally. Her situation is now another major plot, besides Joy's pending trial, that will keep the show moving in other directions besides Earl crossing things off his list. I don't think devoting an entire episode to Earl making 274 bologna sandwiches for Kenny to make up for stealing his lunch in school years ago would have been very interesting.
