I haven't watched this season of
Hell's Kitchen since the second episode. But I have them all recorded just in case I wanted to get back into it and maybe I'll take one of these weekend days and do a marathon. Of course, since I'm writing this post I already know who won, but it won't ruin the season for me. It's all about the journey (and a chef yelling at people).
So were you surprised by who won?

Remember when Tek was voted off of
Hell's Kitchen a few weeks ago? Then what the hell was she doing working in the kitchen on this week's episode?
This wasn't one of those deals where a former contestant comes back to help the remaining contestants for some reason, this was... odd. They didn't interview her or point her out and Ramsay didn't say "Tek, what the hell are you doing here, you donkey?! Didn't I kick you out? And how did you get your chef's jacket back? Jean-Philippe, what's going on?"

I'm not even sure I want to watch this show anymore. I will because I'm kinda invested in it, but I'm getting sick of the formula and Ramsay's screaming (and the screaming of others) just seems half for show, half real. Last night he yelled at Bobby for swearing and yelling in the kitchen in front of customers. Yeah chef, we wouldn't want to have any of
that in Hell's Kitchen.
What did everyone else think?

As it turns out, Joseph really
is a bitch.
So last night we had the big resolution of the Ramsay/Joseph confrontation. Kind of an anti-climax, really, though. Fans who thought that Joseph would stay around in some way might be disappointed.
But is this show getting too crazy, too predictable, too "reality show-ish?" I don't want to see swearing and yelling just to have some swearing and yelling, and most of these cooks just seem too immature. I'm actually thinking about not watching it anymore. Next week is going to have to impress me.

One thing I'd like to see on certain TV shows are follow-ups to stories. Specifically I'm talking about real-life shows like
Cops or design shows. Another show I'd add to the list is
Kitchen Nightmares, the FOX (and Channel 4) show that has Gordon Ramsay going into restaurants and helping them get their act together.
Some episodes of the show feature Ramsay visiting the place weeks or a few months later, but I'd like to see the restaurants a year or two later, to see if they're still doing things Ramsay's way or not (and if they're still in business).

"I'm not no bitch!" - Joseph
Yeah, me not no bitch either. Me talk good! This might be the oddest bunch of
Hell's Kitchen contestants yet. So much food sent out raw. Why? You know that Chef Ramsay is just going to send it back and you'll have to redo it so you're not hurrying up the process and getting food served. Everyone is arguing, and there are more threats of violence in this episode than in other seasons (including one to Ramsay - cliffhanger!).
The show seems to be a lot of BS now (Ramsay swearing because that's his thing, contestants picked because of controversy or lack of skills, the editing, etc) but it's still entertaining. What did you think? (Video of the cliffhanger after the jump.)

Every single season - hell, every single episode - the dramatic announcer of
Hell's Kitchen tells us that "this will be the most explosive episode of
Hell's Kitchen ever!" or "for the first time on
Hell's Kitchen..." But this season, all of those proclamations might actually be true.
Of course, that's not necessarily a good thing, because it could easily turn into
The Real World or
Big Brother and be more about the confrontations and the personality conflicts than the actual cooking and choosing of a chef. I mean, in the first two episodes alone there are more confrontations and yelling and accusations and fisticuffs - yes, fisticuffs - than in whole seasons of other cooking reality shows.

Get ready for more bleeps and blurs on FOX.
FOX is so
impressed with Gordon Ramsay and the ratings for both
Hell's Kitchen and
Kitchen Nightmares that they've given the green light for a third series from the chef. And if I understand the concept for this series, then I think this is the start of Ramsay's demise.
The new show is going to be based on a British show that Ramsay does called
Man Camp, which I've never seen but is described as "a boot camp for men whose ladies are slightly concerned about how feminine they're becoming." Seriously? That's the premise of the show? Maybe if the men are becoming too feminine it's the women who should be sent to the boot camp.

It's rather interesting, when you think about it, that chef Gordon Ramsay has not one but two shows on FOX,
Hell's Kitchen and
Kitchen Nightmares. And this isn't like Rachael Ray having 22 different shows. She has a show that is syndicated to many stations around the county, and her other shows are on a cable station, Food Network, where she is a brand and one of the top stars. FOX is a major network, with not as many time slots as a cable station, so FOX must really believe in Ramsay to give him shows that air year-round, not just in one season.
Fans of the first season are going to be particularly interested in what happens on the very first episode.

(S04E02) "I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. I'm done." - Petrozza
Here's a tip if you ever find yourself in the position of being a contestant on Hell's Kitchen. If you have to choose two people to go up for elimination, don't choose them for "strategic" or "personal" reasons, at least not this early in the game. And if for some reason you do choose them for those reasons, DON'T ANNOUNCE IT TO EVERYONE. But that's exactly what happened tonight, in one of the more stupid moments by a contestant in the short history of this show.
Remember, whoever you choose, Chef Ramsay has the final say on who goes home...
