Adam Carolla scores a pilot while his career hangs by an eyebrow hair

It doesn't matter if you love him or you have a dry-clean only voodoo doll of him complete with Chia-Pet sized eyebrows just to prove how much you hate him. You have to admit that Adam Carolla hasn't had the steadiest career.

He's had a ton of self-titled shows that never really caught on with a regular audience. He scored the top spot on the American Top Gear that sparked a lot of interesting buzz and then had the rug pulled out from under him. He got his ass handed to him on the world's least macho reality show, Dancing with the Stars. Since The Man Show closed up shop, he's been bounced around the television more than a pair of silicone flesh globes in a Juggy audition.

The final death blow came last week when CBS Radio cancelled his morning radio show and all of their L.A. based talk shows to save some cash. But just as one door closed in his face, another one opened.

A note to Katie Couric and The CBS Evening News

Katie CouricKatie,

There's been a lot of talk lately about the third place ratings that The CBS Evening News continues to get. There are people saying that you aren't professional enough and that the show doesn't cover hard news the way it should. You even fired your executive producer and hired another, and then this week fired a producer for plagiarizing (and just what are those first person "Notebooks" if other people are writing them?). These are all things that you have to fix, but may I make one suggestion that might help immediately?

Don't lead your newscast with news about Don Imus on the day that there was a major bombing in Iraq.

MSNBC fires Don Imus

Don Imus(Update 4/12/07 5:00 PM: CBS Radio has also fired Don Imus. Details are here.)

Just heard a statement read on tonight's NBC Nightly News that MSNBC has decided to stop simulcasting Don Imus' WFAN radio show, Imus in the Morning, starting immediately. They had previously announced that they were going along with CBS Radio's two-week suspension of the talk show host, but after re-evaluating what they called an "ongoing review process" and conducting "many conversations with our own employees," NBC News decided to end the simulcast permanently. The entire press statement is after the jump.

Stern and CBS settle lawsuit - BREAKING NEWS

Howard SternThe rumors turned out to be true. In a joint press release, attorneys for CBS Radio and Howard Stern have announced that the lawsuit CBS filed against Stern has been settled.

Sirius is going to pay CBS Radio $2 million, and Stern gets back the master tapes from his 20 years of shows.

But am I missing something here? That's a clever way to word it, but what about the actual lawsuit, that Stern was sued because he promoted Sirius while still under contract with CBS Radio? It's nice he gets the master tapes, but it's almost as if they thought of that to deflect the real outcome of the settlement, which remains undisclosed by both sides.

It will be interesting to see what Stern says about this next week (unless he did it this morning, didn't catch the show). If he's even on next week because of the holiday?

CBS, Howard Stern suit settled? - BREAKING NEWS

Howard SternAccording to Reuters, a New York state court clerk has disclosed that a settlement has been reached in the suit that CBS filed against Howard Stern. The suit alleged that Stern had improperly promoted his move to Sirius satellite radio in the months leading up to his day on CBS Radio.

Of course, as in all stories like this, there is no confirmation of a settlement from either side. In fact, both sides are careful to say that no agreement has been signed yet, which doesn't mean that no deal has been reached, just that one hasn't been "signed" yet. As they say in the news, stay tuned ...
