I might be in the minority here, but I actually like Dan Fogler.
I won't deny that the dude's earned the "Poor Man's Jack Black" title thanks to his roles in
Good Luck Chuck and
Balls of Fury, but I think he'll break out of that shell soon enough.
Fogler is slated to play Alfred Hitchcock in an upcoming Ewan McGregor thriller and,
Variety reports, HBO just hired him to play Sam Kinison in
Brother Sam, an upcoming TV biopic about the controversial stand-up comic.

If you're like me, you're ready to follow your favorite
Battlestar Galactica cast members wherever they go, even if they end up on an ill-conceived star vehicle for Benjamin Bratt, (sorry Grace Park!). Thankfully, most of the
BSG alums seem to be moving in the right direction.
Mary McDonnell (Roslin) was great on a recent
Grey's Anatomy guest stint, and Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) landed a guest gig on
Law and Order and is starring in a pilot produced by Dick Wolf. IMDb tells me that Jamie Bamber (Apollo) will play a cop in the upcoming
Law & Order: London. I'm sure most
BSG fans wouldn't mind sitting through a few procedural shows in order to keep an eye on these former Colonials, but will they follow them off the small screen and download their audio books?

Call it stunt casting gone bad...or a good idea on paper that failed to produce anything interesting on film. I'm speaking, of course, of La Diva Lohan's mini-arc on Ugly Betty as Kimmie, Betty's high school nemesis.
Lindsay Lohan's guest stint on Ugly Betty has come to an end. If you read some of the stories across the media today, things got very ugly indeed on the New York set. Whether it's true or not that LiLo was a walking disaster area, that she feuded with America Ferrara and irritated the crew, is all conjecture and rumor. The bottom line is that it's over.
E's Kristin Dos Santos confirmed today that all of Lindsay's remaining appearances -- four upcoming episodes, including tonight's -- will be shown. However, that's all there is and there will be no more.

You know that scene in the movie
When Harry Met Sally, when Meg Ryan is in a New York deli and simulates having an orgasm? Then Estelle Reiner looks over and says to the waiter, "I'll have what she's having."?
Well, that's how a lot of actors in Hollywood must be feeling about actor Steven Weber -- "I'll have what he's having!" -- because he's been on a hot streak going from role to role to role, TV series to TV series.
The latest is his landing a juicy part on Desperate Housewives.
The former
Wings star will be playing Julie's lover, her college professor who's a serial monogamist, having been married three times. Susan, reportedly, is going to freak out about her daughter getting serious with a guy who's old enough to be her father.
This role is being slated for just one episode, so far, but you never know. He could turn out to be Susan's son-in-law down the road.

The erstwhile
Buffy the Vampire Slayer star is eying a return to the small screen with a half-hour dramedy pilot at HBO, entitled
Wonderful Maladys.
According to
Variety, the New York-set show will revolve around three adult siblings who lost their parents at a very early age.
Screenwriter Charles Randolph, who wrote the script with Gellar in mind, describes her character as having "a kind of zealous immaturity -- like a drug addict with a to-do list." Sounds just peachy.
The project, which is aiming to shoot its pilot early next year, marks Gellar's first regular TV gig since
Buffy ended in 2003 -- though she's appeared on episodes of
The Simpsons and
Robot Chicken since. Think she'll slay it? Sound off below.

Grey's Anatomy is adding another bi-curious female doctor into the Hahn-Torres fray -- and it looks like she'll be played Melissa George.
EW's Michael Ausiello reports that George, best known for her role as butt-kicking bad girl on
Alias, is in final negotiations to play "an intern with, um, an open mind toward sexuality."
She's being positioned as a possible love interest for one of Seattle Grace's other two female-loving females, Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) or Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith), who first locked lips in last year's season finale.
No word on exactly how long she'll stick around, but EW's sources suggest it'll be a while.

I was really bitter towards CW for canceling
Veronica Mars, so I was planning on not watching
Gossip Girl out of spite. However, as a fan of (at least the first few seasons) of
The O.C., the idea of another
Josh Schwartz show intrigued me. Okay, that, and the fact that I loved
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (shut up), and the realization that my one-woman boycott wasn't going to bring
VM back, all led me to the show.
When I tuned in, I really thought it would be
The O.C. East, but Schwartz and the rest of the writers did a good job of making it its own show, I'm sure in no small part due to the fact that they had a series of books to work with. In fact, last night's
90210 premiere reminded me more of
The O.C. than
Gossip Girl ever has. So when I read that an
O.C. alum was making her way to the Upper East Side, I wasn't exactly thrilled.
Casting spoilers ahead.Continue reading Gossip Girl casting news: Is this The O.C. East?

Originally, the new season of
Survivor had an announced premiere date of September 18. We can scratch that now. It's been changed to two back-to-back episodes on September 25. Don't tell me they're actually thinking ahead and realize that football or something else would preempt the season premiere. It's not like CBS to realize such things!
Jeff Probst will be the host, asking his Probsting questions at Tribal Council. Read on past the jump to check out the new castaways!

Lost may be the twistiest-turniest show on TV, but there is still one thing you can always depend on: death is never the end. Producers have proven this once again by announcing the
return of the late LAPD officer, Ana Lucia.
Michelle Rodriguez, who played Ana Lucia during
Lost's second season, wasn't exactly the most
popular character the drama has ever had, so I doubt her resurrection was the result of a rabid fan uprising.
Rodriguez, of course, isn't the first deceased "Tailie"
Lost has brought back.
Cynthia Watros, who played Libby, appeared in one of Michael's visions last season. Rodriguez's return is fueling speculation that Mr. Eko, who met his untimely demise at the (hands?) of the smoke monster, may also return in some form.
Since we're talking about
Lost here, there isn't exactly a wealth of details available about Ana Lucia's reappearance. However, there is a little bit of interesting information, which I've put after the jump for all of you spoilerphobes.

When
All My Children snared veteran head writer Chuck Pratt Jr. to take the reins and "write" the S.S. Pine Valley, the scribe promised swift action. With a look toward kicking up the soap's ratings more than a notch or two. Pratt, whose credits include
Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Melrose Place, Life Goes On and
Santa Barbara, among others is certainly capable.
I liked ABC drafting Chuck for
All My Children, but I'm thinking that the announcement yesterday,
an open casting call for an Iraq war veteran to play an Iraq war veteran, is a publicity stunt. The executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers, said in a press release that casting a real life soldier will heighten the experience for viewers. Excuse me, but I think that's utter hogwash. All My Children doesn't need an actual veteran of the war in Iraq to create a great soap opera storyline. That's why they brought in Chuck Pratt, Jr.

Ah, it's that time again. Hamster watchers around the world are poised to hit that
Big Brother 10 live feeds icon on their computers. The show premiered tonight, back to its summer season and, supposedly, back to its roots -- strangers living in a house. That's right. No previous relationships, no estranged family members, just strangers in the house. To spice things up, it looks like the production staff sought out opposite personalities in respect to political issues. I don't know how keen I am on that aspect, but you know I'll be watching.
Hey, if the ChenBot is wearing Devo glasses, it should be an interesting season, right? Video cast interviews beyond the jump!

Jeffrey Tambor, aka
Arrested Development's beloved George Bluth, is the
latest star to sign up for a
guest stint on the HBO comedy
Entourage. Tambor joins
Sopranos star
Jaime-Lynn Sigler and
Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester on the guest star roster for
Entourage's fifth season, premiering in September.
While both Sigler and Meester are set to play possible love interests for everyone's favorite semi-successful actor Vince Chase (Adrian Grenier), Tambor will be throwing a wrench into their plans for love when Vince suddenly discovers his propensity for older bald dudes. Okay, that's not true at all. Fact is, there's no word on what role Tambor will be playing, or if he'll be playing himself. Regardless, it's Jeffrey Tambor, so it will be awesome.
Since producers probably won't use my love interest idea (although I am totally copyrighting that right now, just in case) what are your opinions on Tambor's role? Should he be a studio exec? Mentor? Rival for Jaime-Lynn Sigler's affection? Post your thoughts in the comments below.

With
Rescue Me's fifth season finally (kinda, sorta) getting closer, we're getting more and more news about what's in store for Tommy and the gang. In addition to the
minisodes, we've also got some exciting potential casting news:
Michael J. Fox may be joining
Rescue Me for a multi-episode arc. Fox is set to play a love interest for Tommy's (Dennis Leary) on-again/off-again ex, Janet (Andrea Roth).
Rescue Me may seem like an odd show for the former
Spin City and
Family Ties star to pop up on, but Fox and Leary are longtime friends. This friendship means that even though the deal isn't completely finalized, there's very good chance that Fox will be seen on the FX drama next summer.

As an intro to my article about The New York Reality TV School, I've asked Red from
The Shawshank Redemption to narrate my opening paragraph:
I wish I could tell you that the New York Reality TV School fought the good fight, and that the students in attendance were not a collection of mostly desperate people whose desire for fame burned more strongly than their sense of dignity. I wish I could tell you that, but the entertainment industry is no fairy-tale world. Thanks Red. Now, if you, the reader, would be so kind as to click through to the article, it would mean a lot to me. Not because I get paid more for click-throughs (I don't; AOL pays me a flat rate of 60 cents plus a pound of corn husks for every post I make, regardless of the number of clicks), but because I spent
three hours attending the inaugural class of the NYRTV school last Saturday. I just couldn't take it if the end result of that is an article no one reads...

Part Three: Never Retreat! Never Surrender! The lessons started in earnest. First was a philosophy that Robert follows in his own life, but that he felt worked perfectly for those seeking to be on reality TV:
Never Deny, Always Reply, Never Ask Why.
He repeated it several times. I won't do that here. Just, uh, read that sentence a few times and you'll get the point.
Essentially, the point of his philosophy was that you need to be open to all things -- you should never say "no" (
never deny); you should reply to every request made to you, presumably in the affirmative (
always reply), and you should never question the logic of what is being asked of you (
never ask why).
