Should Nicolas Cage be the Green Hornet villain?

The Green HornetI'm not sure if Green Hornet fans are looking forward to the new big-screen movie based on the 60s TV show that starred Van Williams and Bruce Lee. First they grimaced when they found out that Seth Rogen was not only writing the movie but would also play The Green Hornet (even if he has slimmed down), and now comes word that Nicolas Cage might play the villain.

Is this a good or a bad thing? Cage can be uniquely awesome in some roles but alienating in other roles.

Should Nicolas Cage be the Green Hornet villain?

That Green Hornet movie might not happen after all

The Green HornetI loved The Green Hornet when I was a kid. I remember seeing Van Williams and Bruce Lee on Batman (one of those crossover episodes to get people excited) and liking them even a bit more than Batman and Robin. Batman was just kinda weird, and Robin's tights were stupid. The Green Hornet had a cool mask, a great car, a cool gun, and a karate expert bodyguard/sidekick. The Green Hornet only lasted one season though. Maybe it didn't have the pedigree and colorful villains that Batman had.

A big screen movie has been talked about for years. At one point, George Clooney was talked about for the role of Britt Reid/The Green Hornet. All of those productions never got past the talking stage, but when Seth Rogen became popular and he and Evan Goldberg got involved, Sony put the movie into gear. But now rumors are swirling that they might not want it after all. They need a new director (Stephen Chow left last month), and several sources say that Sony isn't high on the film anymore. The film is still slated for a June, 2010 release date.

It would be unfortunate if Rogen lost all of that weight for nothing. But I guess there's the whole "healthy" aspect.

Chuck Norris on Chuck Norris "facts"

Chuck NorrisA few weeks ago, when I needed some cheering up, my friend sent me a link to something called Random Chuck Norris Fact. Definitely boosted my mood. Within minutes, I was laughing until my sides hurt. Lately, this (and other "fact" generators, including the Vin Diesel version) have been making rounds on the Internet. A few of my favorite "facts" include "Chuck Norris' tears cure cancer. Too bad he has never cried", "Chuck Norris ordered a Big Mac at Burger King, and got one", and just about anything that has to do with round-house kicking. With the site spreading like wildfire across the information superhighway, it must eventually make its way to the Ranger himself, right? Right.
