Brian Dennehy has played a variety of roles over the years, everything from
Cocoon to voicing a part in the kids' movie
Ratatouille. But I tend to think of his tough-guy roles, like he played in
Assault on Precinct 13 and
Righteous Kill, released in theaters in September.
Now he's got another tough-guy role in the works. He's been
tapped to co-star opposite Donnie Wahlberg on TNT's drama pilot
Bunker Hill.
The pilot, directed by Jon Avnet, explores crime, corruption and deceit in the Bunker Hill section of Boston. Wahlberg plays Mike Moriarty, a cop who returns to Boston to protect the streets he grew up on, and Dennehy plays Martin Kelsey, a flower shop owner who was a former mob boss.
Sounds similar to
The Departed, doesn't it, with the Boston setting and another Wahlberg on board? With Dennehy, Wahlberg, and Avnet involved, I'll look forward to hearing more about this project. Avnet was the producer and director of the aforementioned
Righteous Kill, and I've appreciated his work dating back to 1983's
Risky Business, where he served as producer.

We first told you about this back in August, and now the complete list is out: Turner Classic Movies is letting celebrities program the network for the month of November. Each celeb is picking three or four films, and here are a few of the more interesting choices (it started Thursday with Alfred Molina's picks).
Whoopi Goldberg likes
A Face in the Crowd and
Funny Girl. Jerry Stiller likes A
Night At The Opera. Kermit The Frog loves dancing to
Singin' In The Rain and
The Band Wagon. Martha Stewart would probably have some decorating ideas as
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House.

(
S08E10) This episode was all about Elliot's concern about growing apart from his daughters. The beginning of the episode shows Elliot in church with his fractured family and his middle child hating him very much. He is tipped off to an investigation from his priest, who heard the confession of a man dying of lung cancer. He won't tell Elliot what the confession was, but he suggests Elliot visits the man, named Judson Tierney (played by Brian Dennehy).

Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone until he met his untimely demise on the first season of
Lost, will play the lead role in a miniseries about Venetian traveler Marco Polo. The miniseries is about Polo's travels to Mongolia in the 13th Century and subsequent adventures. Co-stars are Brian Dennehy and B.D. Wong (
Law & Order: SVU). So far, no television network has picked up the miniseries. Filming began this week in China.
A quick check of his IMDB profile shows he recently finished filming the new National Lampoon's movie, called
TV: The Movie, and another film called
The Sensation of Sight. It looks as though Somerhalder has supporting roles in both those flicks.
