Just the other night I was watching the
Simpsons episode "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes." It featured a spoof of
The Prisoner, and Patrick McGoohan even reprised his role as Number 6 in the episode. McGoohan didn't do a ton of television, so it was really cool that he decided to lend his voice to the episode. I wonder how many fans of the Simpsons had no idea what the references in the show even meant and were just confused by it all.
McGoohan died in Los Angeles yesterday at age 80.

The comedy website Stash Wax has declared war on Lorne Michaels and
Saturday Night Live. The site accuses Michaels of ripping off its joke about Mel Gibson's anti-semitic tirade over the summer. In fact, it has sent an official
cease and desist order to
SNL and NBC to take the spoof off its website.
Stash Wax has links to both
its NSFW parody and the
SNL one. Stash Wax recut Gibson's trailer for
Braveheart back in July when he was
arrested for drunk driving. They dubbed over the voices to make it look like a war movie against the Jews. The
SNL parody of Gibson was a recut of the
Apocalypto trailer to make it look like an extermination of the Jews. I have to admit that I laughed harder at the
Apocalypto one. Is it a rip-off? I'm not convinced. I think the
Apocalypto trailer was an obvious target for comedians at the time.
Watch the two spoofs and sound off in comments.

Is Diane Sawyer the worst interviewer or what?
Here's part one of her interview this morning with Mel Gibson on
Good Morning, America. She seems to ask all the right questions, but in the end, not really. She just barrels through the questions, in that "this is a celebrity, let's be more touchy-feeling with him instead of investigative-reporter-ish with him" sort of way. You can see why Gibson chose her. She has that air of respectability, but in reality she's slow pitch softball ("Where does this anger come from?"). Maybe we should hold judgement until the second half of the interview airs tomorrow, but this clip just looks like a
Daily Show parody than a real interview. The interruptions are annoying (why so many voiceovers?).
It's worth it though to hear Gibson talk about choking his toaster. And, no, that's not a euphemism for anything dirty. (Video after the jump.)
