How appropriate!
Amy Poehler has given birth to her first child today, a baby boy. He is now officially known as Saturday Poehler Arnett. No, just kidding. The baby's name hasn't been announced yet. But considering Amy's connection to
Saturday Night Live, it's just perfect that her baby came on Saturday.
According to sources, Amy was in labor all day. Yeah, that's right. Instead of rehearsing for the show, she was in the hospital with her legs up, sucking on ice chips and generally concentrating on her breathing and listening to soothing music.
Seriously, when you consider that Amy was doing that
Sarah Palin rap just a week ago, you realize how far along she was and still doing the comedy business. Kudos to Amy! However, don't expect to see Baby Mama Amy back on
SNL too soon. She's taking a well deserved maternity leave.

I usually don't do posts about TV stars getting married or having babies, because, let's face it: it's no big accomplishment. Millions of people get married and pop out kids every day of the year; just because a celebrity did it shouldn't be considered news. But I want to mention
Julie Bowen's blessed event for two reasons: a) I've enjoyed watching her since her
Ed days, and b) I wanted to highlight how the
Boston Legal star had her son, which is the first for Bowen and her husband Scott Phillips. They named the boy Oliver McLanahan Phillips.
As we saw in the most recent
BL episode, Bowen was pretty far along, but still a few months away. Ever the trouper, she decided to work all the way up to her big day; her water broke while she was filming a scene (let's hope they include that part when the episode airs next month). So either Julie was really healthy all the way through her pregnancy or just slightly crazy. Either way, it'll be interesting to see how she changes as the weeks go on.

According to
People.com,
Scrubs star Christa Miller has given birth to a boy. It's the third child for Miller and her husband,
Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence. People reports that baby Henry Vanduzer Lawrence arrived at 12:05 this morning. Henry joins siblings Charlotte, 6, and William, 3.
On
Scrubs, Christa, 42, plays Jordan Sullivan, wife of Dr. Perry Cox. Her pregnancy was written into
Scrubs, which is being filmed right now but won't appear on the NBC schedule until the new year.

After lots of controversy, one of America's notorious babies not named Suri has been born. Elizabeth Vargas, who stepped down as anchor of ABC's
World News Tonight because of the pregnancy and other family issues,
gave birth to a boy yesterday. She and husband Marc Cohn named the baby Samuel Wyatt, and it appears both mother and son are doing well.
Vargas, who still appeared on
20/20 after she stepped down, insisted that
she wasn't pushed out of
WNT because of ratings slippage, but that she realized that she couldn't travel all over the place when she had two small children to take care of. So, just because she had her baby doesn't mean we'll see her increase her workload again. Even if she
did try to lobby for her anchor job back, Charles Gibson would pour sugar in her gas tank on her first day back at work.

As
we reported earlier this week,
Law & Order: SVU star Mariska Hargitay gave birth to a boy on Tuesday, June 28th. We've now learned that she and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, named their son 'August'. He was born by c-section a week after his due date. Baby August weighed in at 10 pounds, 9 ounces.
A rep tells People magazine, "Mother and baby are doing wonderfully. She is ecstatic--over the moon."
Her website also has the announcement, but no photo.

Yesterday, magician Penn Jillette's wife
gave birth to their second child, Zolten. "Zolten" is his wife's maiden name. In a scenario that was quite suitable to the magniloquent magician, his wife actually started giving birth at the hospital while Penn was doing his radio show. Halfway through the show Penn was forced to leave it in the hands of his co-host as he bolted from his home studio and drove through Las Vegas traffic, staying connected to the radio show via his cellphone while his wife and her doctor made calls to the radio show to let Penn and everyone listening know how things were going. You can listen to the chaos in all its glory by clicking
here and then clicking on the "May 22" show.

(S17E19) "Honey, you're just as smart as a man. Sometimes when I'm with
you I feel like I'm doing it with a dude." --Homer, to Marge
Last night's episode grew on me slowly. To quote Lisa from an early episode, it started off kind of "meh"
but by the end I was drawn into its hysterical appraisal of both sexes and their inherent flaws. The Itchy and
Scratchy musical at the beginning had some moments that cracked me up, but spoofing the Lion King musical
seems like an idea whose time had passed long ago.

Isn't she just so cute as a pregnant woman? The New York Post reports that she's having a boy and he's due in
late Spring.
Mariska's blog says the producers of
Law and Order:
SVU decided not to write her pregnancy into the show so I guess she'll be doing a lot of hiding behind coats,
desks, pillows, etc in upcoming episodes. A yet-to-be-named guest star will fill in for her when she goes on maternity
leave, starting in March.
