Ya gotta give Drew Carey a lot of credit. Going into his third season on
The Price is Right, he's been able to step in the shoes of an icon, Bob Barker, and do a good job. He's also his part to drag the 38-year-old show into the 21st century, whether it wants to be here or not.
A couple of weeks ago, Drew simultaneously started
a blog called Drew From TV, and
a Twitter feed called TPIRHost, essentially to talk about his backstage experiences at
TPiR, and whatever else he happens to think about (he soon started
a second Twitter feed called DrewFromTV so he could muse on politics, soccer, and his other interests without associating it with the show).

Even when your job keeps you surfing online all day and night, you can sometimes miss things. Case in point: this blog that
Lost's Jorge Garcia keeps. And it's not one of those celebrity blogs that are either written by someone else and/or updated once a month with news on their latest "project," this is a real blog. Today he talks about how he spent his birthday (and it doesn't involve an iPod toilet paper holder).
This could be a fun way to kill time while we wait for the final season of the show.

I sure as hell didn't (he's on the right in the photo). Of course, it was easy to forget who all of the new Grey's Anatomy interns were once Yang gave them all numbers for names in the season four premiere. Apparently, Steve (or should I say #2?) has been blogging about his experiences at Seattle Grace for over a month now. Don't get too excited though. The blog is essentially a cheap rehash of things that happened over the course of the season - but through Steve's eyes.

Gotta hand it to Zach Braff; he's probably one of the most wired celebrities out there. He was one of the first celebs (besides our very own
Wil Wheaton, of course) to maintain a blog, and he seems to be well aware of whatever internet buzz is flying around about him or
Scrubs.
So it's no surprise to see him respond to the reports from
Gawker, Radar Online, and other sites about how he's been tomcatting around New York this summer, seemingly talking up a different woman every night. On the latest entry in his
blog (which is also on his
MySpace page), he wonders why the tabloid coverage of him is saying that he's being a jerk:

Comedy Central's election coverage, "InDecision [insert year]" began, if I recall correctly, before The Daily Show ever hit the airwaves. Of course, it seemed perfectly reasonable that Jon Stewart and the gang would take the reins, and they did. They took those reins like you wouldn't believe. Boy howdy hoo.
So anyway, now Comedy Central has launched a companion site for InDecision 2008, which is scheduled to launch Wednesday, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The article also reads that the election spoofery began in 1992 and was always associated with The Daily Show, which I find hard to believe since The Daily Show began in 1996.
Also, you can go to the site now (http://www.indecision2008.com/index.jhtml), and I must say, for not having launched there's a lot of stuff there. There's clips from The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and Lil' Bush, and some funny blog entries: did you know Ron Paul is more popular than iPhones and crotches? He is.

Sweet Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam on
The Office, is blogging once again. She took a bit of a hiatus after
breaking her back last month while walking down a marble staircase. She tells the whole story
here on her MySpace page (which she shares with her alter-ego, Pam Beesly).
Of course, Jenna is extremely grateful to all the fans for their 'Get Well' wishes and also for those who donated to her favorite cause, animal rescue. She has links to
kitty and
doggie rescues on her site.

In response to Bob's
post about celebrity blogs, one of our readers, Galley, suggested we check out Alyssa Milano's blog on MLB.com. So, being a fan of baseball and an, uh,
"admirer" of Milano,
I decided to go over and check it out.
Essentially a promotional vehicle for her line of women's baseball wear, the blog shows that Milano -- a Dodgers season ticket holder -- really does know her stuff. She quotes venerable Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, and speaks about her team with the same passion and attention to detail as Sal from Brooklyn or any of the Joe Six-Packs that call into sports radio shows across the country.

The April 4, 2007 entry on the "Couric and Co." blog on the CBS News site no longer includes a video essay on libraries, but rather an apology for omitting credit to a March 15 article in the Wall Street Journal titled "Of the Places You'll Go, Is the Library Still One of Them?" by Jeffrey Zaslow.
The blog contains video essays written by producers of the CBS Evening News and read by anchorperson Katie Couric and other contributors to the newscast. The producer who wrote the copy for this particular episode did not credit Zaslow's article, and was subsequently fired. Sandra Genelius, a spokesperson for CBS News, said the content was almost completely taken from the Wall Street Journal piece. The name of the fired producer was not released.
CBS became aware of the incident when an editor from the Wall Street Journal called to note the similarities between the article and the online video essay.

David Spade will spend Sunday night doing what he does best - making mincemeat out of Hollywood's elite. Comedy Central's
The Showbiz Show is hosting its first
Oscar Blog. You'll be able to log-on and read real-time Oscar commentary from Spade and the show's writers. You'll also be able to comment and upload your own videos to the site by registering. This is, of course, also a great big publicity push for
The Showbiz Show, which has its third season premiere on March 15th.
Whatever you may think of Spade, blogging may be the perfect outlet for his celebrity-aimed snark. Of course, I'm counting on him to avoid drawing urine dribbling out of Ellen's pants leg. That's Perez's gig.

Ever since
I found out that
Today's Meredith Vieira had her own
blog, I've been checking in on it every so often, and I'm liking what I've been seeing. Not only is Vieira a good writer, but the easygoing, self-deprecating manner she shows on the air comes through in the blog. She's talked about childhood memories, her dog, her family, and her thoughts on whatever she's been working on for either of the shows she's on (
Today and
Millionaire).
When I caught up with Vieira in Pasadena earlier in the month, I asked her how the blog got started and how she's been finding it. "The blog was an afterthought," she replied. "They (NBC) asked me to do it, and I'm not a computer person, and I didn't really know what (the word) blog meant... What
does it mean by the way?"

I just had to share
this video with you. The CBS affiliate in Savannah, Georgia (WTOC) is apparently just hearing about this whole 'weblog' phenomenon and thinks it might catch on. The station is the highest-rated in Savannah and has been for a long time. Watching their news segment makes me think they're about to lose most of their viewers to old age.
The story is about a small bloggers' convention in Savannah. The anchor who leads-in to the package is hilarious in his efforts to explain to the kind folks of Savannah exactly what a 'blog' is. And his tag after the reporter's story will have you rolling on the floor.
Now, you may think the video comes from 1999 or earlier, but no. It's from last week.
Video is after the jump. Enjoy!

How often does this kind of opportunity come along? Beginning Wednesday, January 17th, Bravo viewers will be able to bitch and moan directly to the network's Senior Vice President of Production and Programming Andy Cohen via
"Watch What Happens," a live-streaming online program. Each week Andy and a handful of Bravo's reality stars will dish with fans on "what the hell happened." "Jeffrey, neck tattoo? Talk to me." "Mike, did you really think the whole John Belushi persona would take you far in the world of haute cuisine?"

Right as the public's sympathy was swinging in her favor, Rosie O'Donnell had to go and unleash another rhyme and verse on us via
her blog about Donald Trump in which she creates a somewhat
strained metaphor between a 1970s pimp and Donald working over Miss America.
Much like
fellow TV Squad scribe Anna, I could care less about Rosie's public squabbles and controversies. However, I do find it endlessly amusing that the last word in these public debates comes in the form of butchered Japanese poetry. Rosie is, of course, more invested in the spirit of the haiku and has never put much stock in a strict adherence to the 5-7-5 syllable scheme. I'd argue that she's actually grown way beyond the haiku, flown by sonnets and is taking us straight into epic territory. With Rosie making
The View must-watch TV these past few months, I think a year-end review of Rosie's top five poetic expressions is in order:

You know, I'm really starting to appreciate how good a writer Ken Jennings is. Every time I go to his blog, he's been consistently sharp and funny (who knew Mormons could be that snarky?). Today, he has an especially good entry: he
breaks down the dancing styles of everyone participating in the infamous "Linus and Lucy" dance from
A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Some of his pithier observations? "That "Frankenstein" is pretty lame, but the head-bob makes it semi-work," he writes of Shermy's dance. "Jumping Joseph on a pogo stick, is this a train wreck. Elbows flailing, wildly off the beat, staring at her feet in sheer panic, she looks like Benny at the L.A. Law Christmas party," he clucks about Violet. But he has nothing but praise for Linus: "Man, watch him stomp, even with the blanket limiting his mobility."
By the way, he mentions an old video that mashes together the "Linus and Lucy" dance with OutKast's monster hit "Hey Ya!" Since the video is fun and I'm in a good mood, I embedded it after the jump, just for poops and giggles.

The fall-out from Rosie's "ching-chong" moment on
The View continues. In case you
missed it, Rosie - commenting on Danny DeVito's drunken appearance on the show - said that the story was so huge that even Chinese papers were covering it. "Ching chong ching ching ching chong Danny DeVito ching ching chong drunk The View ching chong."
To date, Rosie's response, made through her publicist, has been along the lines of "get over it." As you might imagine, this response hasn't exactly been embraced by certain Asian-American public figures and organizations including New York City Councilman John Liu. (You can see Liu's letter to Barbara Walters and other Asian-American organizations' responses to the incident at
AngryAsianMan.com.)
