Want to know more about the cast of Gossip Girl?

Gossip Girls walking on the sand. Vanity Fair has done a piece on Gossip Girl profiling the likes and dislikes of its young Hollywood starlets. Amanda Seyfried, who's starring in the upcoming film Mamma Mia! with Meryl Streep, wants to work with Michael Caine on day. When asked whether she drove a hybrid or an Escalade, she said, "Audi. Maybe I should drive a hybrid. I do have a shirt that says, 'Go Green.' " Well, that helps, I guess.

Blake Lively, who got her start playing Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, got the car question too: "Hybrid. Even if anybody picked the Escalade they wouldn't say it, 'cause it'd be, like, bombed."

VH1.com pointed out that in the article Gossip Girl ripped off a famous Friends photo. The pictures features each cast in evening gowns and tuxes while lugging champagne. Technically, Vanity Fair ripped off Friends. I feel indignant at any comparison, intentional or not, made between Friends (*cue choir of angels*) and Gossip Girl. Check out the pictures and let me know what you think.

Gossip Girl: Much 'I Do' About Nothing (season finale)

Gossip Girl(S01E18) That's it. Gossip Girl is done for the 2007-2008 season.

The show's season finale left me on my appetite. It didn't end with a huge bang, it didn't left me with tons of questions I wanted answered now, it didn't make me want to rush to the water cooler to chat about it with my friends. Actually, it made me wish that the series had concluded its first season with "All About My Brother," an episode that ended with a huge bang and would have served as a better season finale.

Gossip Girl: Woman on the Verge

Gossip Girl(S01E17) "We're here to help Serena no matter what the problem is." - Blair

After a "wow" episode last week, expectations (at least mine) for this week were pretty high. I had loads of questions about the video and hoped that answers would be giving in "Woman on the Verge." The episode definitely met my expectations and set the scene for what could be an action and drama packed season finale next week.

What I liked most about this week's episode is the "no matter what" friendship seen between Chuck, Nate, Blair and Serena. They were able to put their problems aside and work together. As the saying says, "A friend in need is a friend indeed." The quartet definitely proved that saying this week.

Michelle Trachtenberg to become a regular on Gossip Girl

Gossip GirlWord on the Upper East Side streets is that evildoer Georgina Sparks will elect residence in NYC permanently next fall. According to E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos, Michelle Trachtenberg's mutli-episode arc stint will become a regular one when Gossip Girl returns for its second season.

Trachtenberg has gotten fair reviews about her portrayal of bad teen Georgine Sparks so far, and her addition to the cast did create some, err, sparks! The character is there to generate some waves and is not worried about hurting people along the way (see "All About My Brother" if you need proof). So what will this permanent addition mean for the show? More drama? More secrets? More backstabbing? Serena going back to her evil ways for good? No matter the answer, you can bet that Sparks will see her name in print on the Gossip Girl blog more than once.

Kristin Dos Santos also says that the show will have a second season of 24 episodes and that the first few episodes back will see the characters on vacation in the Hamptons.

Gossip Girl
(S01E16) "S. Memories can fade. A video is forever. ♥ G."

Hello Upper East Siders! Did you hear the latest gossip on the streets? E was caught kissing A and S admitted to B that she killed someone! XOXO - Gossip Girl

After such an episode, I think the only thing we can say is "OMFG."

PTC says WTF over OMFG ads

Gossip GirlThe CW recently released risqué campaign posters to get new viewers to tune in to its show Gossip Girl. The campaign, titled "OMFG," got fans and the press talking as soon as the sexy posters hit the web and magazines. Two posters were released: the one you see on the right featuring characters Serena and Nate, and another one with Blair and Chuck. Also, a "OMG" version of both posters was used.

This week, the Parents Television Council (PTC) took notice of the ads and declared war against The CW.

And the gay character on Gossip Girl is...

Gossip GirlAt the end of March, gossip columnist Michael Ausiello from TV Guide reported that a male character on The CW's Gossip Girl would come out of the closet and that this revelation would significantly impact the lives of the other characters.

Since then, fans of the series have been speculating about who could that character be. Fans of the books will recall that Chuck is presumed gay and that Dan questions his sexuality. However, neither are the person Ausiello was referring to (note that there are no plans to have Dan go down that path on the TV series at this point). Want to know who it is?

Spoilers coming up!

CW to Gossip Girl fans: No streams for you!

Blake Lively of Gossip GirlIf you're like me, you probably get annoyed when you roll down your window and your beard blows up in your eyes... And if you don't have a ridiculous beard, but are still like me in your appreciation for a good teen drama, this might be relevant to your television scheduling.

It seems the overlords over at the CW have hatched a new plan. The last five episodes of Gossip Girl, set to begin on Monday, will not be available for online streaming. I know. OMG! Right? I'll pause while you text your BFF. Over at the New York Times, Paul McGuire, senior VP of communications for the network, is quoted as saying, "This is an experiment to see if this moves the [Nielsen ratings] needle at all."

Gossip Girl: The season so far

Gossip Girl
I'll admit it upfront, Gossip Girl is one of my TV guilty pleasures this season. It fills in the void left after the ending of shows like The O.C. and Gilmore Girls. Now that all the episodes of this CW's new series aired (the show was picked up for a full 22-episode season but had time to complete only the original order of 13 episodes before production was shut down due to the strike), it's time to take a step back and analyze what we've been offered so far.

And the identity of Gossip Girl is ...

Gossip Girl

No, I'm not going to reveal it on the front page here. In fact, I'm not even sure if what the New York Daily News says can even possibly be true.

Gossip columnist Ben Widdicombe says he knows who the identity of Gossip Girl is, and you're never going to guess it, so don't even try. But before we get to that bit of business (after the jump), can I ask a question about Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley, Blake Lively, and Leighton Meister? Are these the names of real people? Chace, Leighton, Penn, and Blake? These are first names? They sound like the names of characters on The Bold and the Beautiful. I mean, their real names sound more soap opera-ish than their character names on the show. I always thought Chase was a cool name, but I never thought of spelling it with a "c."

OK, now on to the big news. Gossip Girl is...

Critic says Gossip Girl is dangerous

Gossip Girl

I long ago got over my desire to move to New York City, but oh, when I was younger, I really wanted to move to the big city to become a writer, to live where a lot of my favorite TV shows were set, to get out of my hometown and live among the skyscrapers. As I got older I realized that there are other big cities, I live close enough to visit a lot, and New York is way too freakin' expensive.

I thought of that after reading this piece in the New York Observer. Tom Acitelli says that The CW's Gossip Girl is dangerous because it gives a false impression to people from other states that New York City is affordable.

When I first saw the headline I thought he was going to say it's dangerous because of sex and drugs and immoral behavior. But, no, it's the real estate he's talking about.

Gossip Girl -- An early look

Blake Lively - Gossip GirlIt's that time of the year again. Time to put away the bathing suits, winterize the boats, and start thinking about getting the big coats out of the back of the closets, at least up here in the Jet City. While it will be sad to see those long summer days fade into fall, the silver lining is a truckload of new and returning shows, all set to debut.

One of the first out of the gate is Gossip Girl, which premieres next Wednesday at 9 on The CW. They were nice enough to send a copy of the pilot over to TV Squad HQ, and I couldn't resist the possibility of a good teen drama, so here is an early look at what the fifth network has cooking.

CW - executive session, fall season preview - TCA report

The CWThe CW's got some funny sitcoms both old (Everybody Hates Chris) and new (Aliens in America -- more on that later), but the network's funniest asset is Paul McGuire, executive vice president, network communications.

Before introducing Dawn Ostroff, president entertainment, The CW, McGuire fires off some zingers to get the reporters up and running.

Of the recycled tote bags that The CW gave to the press (perfect for hauling all our cable swag home), McGuire quips, "They're made entirely from recycled billboards, including some from Hidden Palms -- or as some dirt bag reporter called it -- 'Hidden Ratings.'"
