Benjamin Bratt back on the beat at Law & Order

law and order
I started watching Law & Order during the Briscoe and Green days, so I don't know a whole lot about Detective Rey Curtis, Briscoe's former partner from '94-'99. What I do know is that Benjamin Bratt is pulling a Chris Noth and returning to the show that gave him his big break.

Bratt, whose A&E series, The Cleaner, was just canceled, is reprising his role as Detective Rey Curtis on the original Law & Order. However, it doesn't look like the current crime-fighting duo of Lupo (Jeremy Sisto) and Bernard (Anthony Anderson) have anything to worry about: Bratt is only signed up for one episode.

Shelley Long and Benjamin Bratt on Modern Family

Shelley Long on Modern FamilyI was already looking forward to Shelley Long guest starring on tonight's episode of Modern Family. Long is playing the unstable ex-wife of Jay, played by Ed O'Neill, who I also like.

Modern Family
has been one of the best new comedies this year, delivering on the hype surrounding it by establishing an appealing base of characters. And yesterday, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Benjamin Bratt signed on to play Javier Delgado, the ex-husband of Jay's new wife, Gloria Delgado-Prtichett, who is played by Sofia Vergara.

Both are great casting, and seem to be a good fit.

A&E cancels The Cleaner

The_Cleaner_Benjamin_BrattWhile a lot of shows seem to be thriving in cable, in the last couple of days, two series have bitten the dust. TBS dumped The Bill Engvall Show after three seasons, and now A&E Network has canceled The Cleaner, opting not to give the drama series another year. Hmm... does that mean Benjamin Bratt is available to return to Law and Order?

Probably not. Been there, done that, you know. But the TV pro is now unemployed although I doubt that'll be for long. The Cleaner just never really clicked for A&E. It was as intense as the network's hit reality show, Intervention, but it wasn't nearly as compelling.

The Cleaner: The Projectionist - open thread

The CleanerAre you watching The Cleaner? It seems to be the cable drama that has gotten lost in the mix of other shows that get more press and acclaim, like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Weeds, and Rescue Me. But one friend of mine swears that the show is one of the best shows on television right now.

TV shows and movies about drug addicts always bum me out though.

A&E has a new scripted series, their first in six years

Benjamin BrattThis summer, A&E will launch its first scripted drama series in six years. The Cleaner stars Benjamin Bratt (Law and Order, Miss Congeniality), Amy Price-Francis (Californication), Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica), Kevin Michael Richardson (Knights of Prosperity), Esteban Powell (Dazed and Confused, Powder), Brett DelBuono (Balls of Fury) and Liliana Mumy (Cheaper by the Dozen).

Bratt will play William Banks, a recovered drug addict who helps others kick their habits. After hitting rock-bottom because of his own problems with addiction, Banks makes a deal with God when his daughter is born. He vows to help others. However, his means of intervention are unconventional and unrelenting to say the least. In the series premiere, Banks helps high school meth addict Zach, a once-promising young athlete. Along the way, Banks discovers the cause of Zach's addiction, a fracture in the family after Zach's father died. He also uncovers a drug-fencing operation.

The Cleaner premieres Tuesday July 15th at 10 p.m. ET. Will you be watching?
