Fugitive fans ticked at CBS; CBS responds

The Fugitive DVDBy now, TV fans are getting used to some of their favorite shows being edited when they are released on DVD. Sometimes this is because syndicated versions of the shows are used (why I have no idea) and sometimes it's because they couldn't get the rights to use certain music/songs on the DVD so they have to take them out and/or replace them with different music. It's this latter point that has fans of The Fugitive up in arms.

For the release of The Fugitive: Season Two, Volume One (oh, I hate these volume releases, but that's for another post), CBS Home Entertainment not only replaced music in certain scenes and certain episodes, they completely stripped all of the music (except the title theme) from certain episodes and did it over with soundalike versions. They also replaced the music that plays over the closing credits.

  • Barry Morse: He's probably best known has the relentless Lt. Gerard on the classic series The Fugitive. He also appeared in many other series, including The Twilight Zone, Playhouse 90, Naked City, The Untouchables, The Outer Limits, The Invaders, Space 1999, Sirens, La Femme Nikita, and many more. He died at age 89 in London.

The Fugitive coming to DVD

The FugitiveNo, not the lame Harrison Ford movie that everyone seems to like for some reason. I'm talking about the original, 60s series starring David Janssen. Looks like the show is coming to DVD sometime in 2007 (no exact date yet). It will be The Fugitive - Season 1, Volume 1. Yeah, one of those deals where they break up the seasons, probably to make more cash. The first season had 30 episodes (wow, can you imagine a show doing that today?).

Stephen King has always listed this as one of the best shows ever on TV, and it's quite good.
