Yesterday we showed you a clip of Wolf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs talking about the 2007 arrest of Barney Frank's partner for growing pot plants at their home in Maine. Last night Stephen Colbert defended Frank. Well, sort of.

Here's a rather amusing clip from CNN. They were doing a story about Congressman Barney Frank's partner being arrested for having pot plants in his home a couple of years ago, and this leads to Wolf Blitzer saying he knows what marijuana smells like but not what it looks like. Lou Dobbs? He knows both.

The Jay Leno Show has only been on for a week, but it's already starting to fall into a familiar pattern, and that's a good thing for late night. Familiarity creates a steady audience by making it more comforting, and helps weed out what doesn't work and focus on what does.

Unfortunately, the thing that makes the late night format work is breaking Jay's show.

Just about the only thing that works with Jay's show is his monologue. The rest make him feel more out of his element than Donnie from The Big Lebowski.

When I watched the Nancy Pelosi/President Bush/Barney Frank bailout sketch on last Saturday's Saturday Night Live, I had no idea that one of the couples featured in the sketch (played by Darrell Hammond and Casey Wilson) was actually based on a real-life couple, and now that couple is angry at how they were portrayed. And by "portrayed" I mean that SNL putting up the words "People That Should Be Shot" on the screen while the couple was talking.

NBC has edited the segment (which you can see at the link above) so that the words no longer appear on the screen. In fact, in this new edited version, you can actually hear the audience laugh at the on-screen joke, even though nothing appears there now.

Dennis Haysbert recently claimed that his role as President Palmer on 24 may have helped pave the way for a viable African American presidential candidate. He went on to claim that his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in the movie Goodbye Bafana ended apartheid and that his role as Jonas Blane in The Unit cured polio. Haysbert was then wrestled to the ground by his handlers and is now "recuperating" at the Clay Aiken Home for Delusional Celebrities.

My first thought upon hearing this news was that Dennis Haysbert is obviously insane. Since I've been criticized in this space for not having an open mind about insane things, I decided to take Mr. Haysbert at his word. I then went even further and went to work putting together a list of other politicians who exist mainly due to the hard work done for them by TV actors. After researching Wikipedia for almost a full fifteen minutes, this is the list I've managed to put together...
