That's why I recognize Brick from The Middle!

atticus_shaffer_brickYou know how sometimes you see an actor or actress and they look so familiar, but you can't remember where you saw him or her, or what the TV show was? That's how I've been with the little boy who plays Brick on The Middle. His name is Atticus Shaffer, and since the ABC sitcom began this fall, I've been scratching my head over him. Where did I see him before?

Turns out that it was on a commercial for AIG. Yes, AIG, that huge insurance company that was a big part of the economic collapse. The company that was too big for America to let fail.

Lex Luthor asks for a bailout - VIDEO

HammI'm beginning to think that Jon Hamm is one of the funniest people on television. Maybe it's the serious, moody demeanor he displays on Mad Men that makes his comedy really stand out when he does it, but he's a funny guy. His episode of Saturday Night Live was one of the best in years, and he had a funny scene on 30 Rock. The Funny or Die video after the jump shows more of his humorous side.

That's Hamm as super villain Lex Luthor, asking the government for a bailout. Seems that Luthor and his corporation have lost billions of dollars trying to do various things to take over the country and/or get rid of Superman. The video isn't laugh-out-loud funny, but it's clever, and you can see bits of Don Draper in Hamm's portrayal of the bald bad guy. Oh, about that: it's an obvious wig that makes him look a little bit like Max Headroom in close-ups, but it's actually funnier this way.

CNBC's Cramer speaks out, then apologizes

Jim CramerCNBC analyst and Mad Money host Jim Cramer has been in a few controversies lately, from comments he made about what we should do with our stocks to picks that he has made. Now Cramer has said this:

"We should hound them in the supermarket, we should hound them in the ball park, we should hound them everywhere they are. We should make fun of them and we should point fingers at them and we should tell them that you have no shame."

I know, you probably think that Cramer is talking about reality show contestants, but he's not.

McCain gets his priorities straight: Letterman first, then the economy

Mcain LettermanNow that Senator John McCain is doing the most important thing in his campaign to become the 44th president of the United States, agreeing to appear The Late Show with David Letterman, I think we can say that the Straight Talk Express is on the way to being back on track.

It was inevitable, and really, really necessary, for McCain to fix this problem with Dave. McCain was the butt of the joke for nearly three weeks and it hasn't helped his campaign. Appearing Thursday should do a lot to ameliorate his image and in every way it can only be a win-win for McCain and Letterman.
