MSNBC's Jonathan Capehart is not a clown

You don't usually get the mom of a reporter on television defending her son, but that's what happened earlier today on MSNBC. Dylan Ratigan (always a controversial guy) aired hidden camera footage of reporter Jonathan Capehart eating a bagel. It was meant to be a joke, but Capehart's mom didn't like it at all and let Ratigan know it live on the air.

CBS served up a smidge of Streisand

Barbra Streisand live 2006In her Oscar-winning movie Funny Girl, Barbra Streisand as Fanny Brice described herself as "a bagel on a plateful of onion rolls." Last night, CBS served up the Barbra bagel in the one-hour TV special Streisand Live 2006. As music specials go it was a delicious serving of all-time great hits like "Somewhere," "Evergreen," "The Way We Were" and "Don't Rain on My Parade." But at just an hour -- probably 48 minutes considering the commercials -- the show just wasn't enough. It was a smidge of Streisand. I wanted the whole thing.

From a marketing point of view, this was probably just what the Streisand camp wanted. On Tuesday, April 28, Sony is releasing a 3-DVD set of Barbra TV concerts, including the full, two-hour-plus version of Streisand Live 2006. So in many ways, the CBS special was an extended preview, an infomercial, a nibble that would make you want to buy the DVD.

Are you ready for The Fork in the Outlet?

LostRemember a couple of weeks when we told you that Lost producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse and ABC were holding a contest for fans of the show to give the season finale a quirky name? Every season finale of the show has gone by a code name: season one had "The Bagel" and last season was "The Rattlesnake in the Mailbox." What will this season's finale be called?

The winner has been revealed and it's ... "The Fork in the Outlet." Who knows if this will be literal (after all, what the heck does "The Bagel" have to do with the season one finale?), but I think we're in for something "shocking." I've never put a utensil in an electrical outlet before, but I did touch a light switch with wet hands once and got a jolt. Never again.

I kinda like some of the entries that didn't win, especially "The Droids You're Looking For," and "The Fifth Toe." Maybe they should have named it "Scotty, Beam Me Up," to tie in with J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek flick, also in May.

Lost wants YOU to name the season finale cliffhanger

LostEvery year, the Lost producers and writers come up with a name for the big shocking moment in the season finale. The first season finale, where Walt was taken by the Others, was called "Bagel." When Penny's team found the island it was called "Challah." That was the end of the bread names. When we found out Jack was in a fast forward, it was called "The Rattlesnake in the Mailbox," which I still don't understand (not that I do understand "Bagel" and "Challah"). Last season's big twist was called "Frozen Donkey Wheel," which makes sense (the wheel that Ben turned to get off the island).

This year it's going to be different: you get to give a name to the season finale.
