If you didn't see it, let me tell you this much: Artie didn't kill the show; it was already dead when he got there. What he did was the equivalent of finding a dead squirrel (with awful, frat-boy hair), filling it full of firecrackers, then cackling gleefully as the guts rained down onto Jason Sudeikis and Paul Rudd.
Artie Lange's appearance on Joe Buck Live was boorish, crude, mean-spiritied, and blatantly homophobic. It was the kind of thing that'll probably end the career of the poor person who booked him on the show.
It's also something that we need a hell of a lot more of...
The New York Post reports that Artie Lange is no longer welcome to appear on HBO Sports or Joe Buck Live. I'm not sure if that ban extends to the entirety of HBO. For those of you that missed his, to say the least, controversial appearance, TV Squad had it covered but sadly the video was taken down.
Considering the company that Artie keeps on Sirius Satellite Radio, being banned should not be a foreign concept to him. No doubt they'll talk about it on Howard Stern's radio show for days on end.
Artie Lange, Paul Rudd, and Jason Sudeikis were on the premiere episode of Joe Buck Live last night, and let's just say that Lange took control of the show with a dirty put down to Buck after the host brought up TMZ.com. (The after-the-show webcast can be seen at HBO's site, but it seems to be down right now.). Sports Illustrated has more, including comments from HBO and Buck.
A very tired-sounding Jimmy Kimmel went on Howard Stern yesterday (before his ABC upfront appearance) and talked about his break-up with Sarah Silverman, why ABC made him fly commercial to the upfronts, and a rather bad experience after eating a big steak. Videos below and after the jump. (It's Howard Stern/SIRIUS, so it's very NSFW).
(S34E23) Wow. Way to go, Will Ferrell. Maybe they should just bring back Saturday Night Live alumni for season finales from now on, because this episode was spectacular. Ferrell brought back some old favorites and a slew of famous faces, from the familiar to the inexplicable, including Amy Poehler, Tom Hanks, Anne Hathaway and Artie Lange. Here are some video highlights from the evening (Hulu vids are US only. Sorry, kids... you can also watch these videos at NBC's website).
We've heard that Mad TV will be leaving the FOX schedule in a couple of weeks, canceled after 14 years on the network (Talk Show with Spike Feresten has also been axed). Now it looks like the people at the late night comedy show have no intention of hanging things up.
Producer David Salzman is looking for another network to pick up the show. He says that this finale coming up is the "FOX finale," but he's talking to other networks about doing another season of the show (at least).
So, what network would be a good place for Mad TV to continue? I think there are three or four networks that come immediately to mind (no, I don't see it on Lifetime or WE). After the jump, let us know what channel would be a good fit for this show.
And thus deteriorated the first Gavin AA meeting. These people are nuts. Everyone drinks, no one can listen, they're all stubborn, and none of them think that Sean is actually an alcoholic. I tend to agree. No one with a raging booze addiction thinks that God is a "giant cloud of pink gas."
That scene was only a dent in this episode though. I can't remember an episode of Rescue Me having so many things going on at once. It got a little tiresome to be honest. There was no real direction as each new scene rarely had a connection to another one. There were short little blips. Valerie called Tommy again and he blew her off since he was playing with that dog. Or take Richie. He came and told Franco about Natalie's new guy. Think about it for a second though. There was a lot going on here. But where's it all headed?

This week, a scene from this week's episode of Rescue Me ...
I think I'm the last Squadder to put out one of these lists, and there's a good reason for that. After the crush of the season finales and upfronts in May, I was happy to not be a regular watcher of anything in particular, except for Yankee games, so there seemed to be nothing for me to write about.
But when I really thought about it, that's not even close to being true. Despite the fact that it's summer, there's more than enough quality programming that I'm sure I'll get sucked into some weekly habits at some point. So, after the jump, here's what I plan on watching:
I don't know why I'm so fascinated by Artie Lange's career. Maybe it's because I listen to him every day on Howard Stern's Sirius radio show and I get a daily dose of Lange's everyguy persona and funny wisecracks. I'm also fascinated by the fact that, while he's doggedly determined to be a success in his comedy career, he is pretty much unable to resist just about every temptation known to man, from drugs to gambling to food to booze. Yet, no matter how addicted he is, he is so open about his life that he's been able to endear himself to the show's fans, and his career has taken off as a result.
Case in point: he announced this morning that he'll guest star on six episodes of Rescue Me this season, playing a fireman buddy of Denis Leary's character of Tommy Gavin. Perhaps this is part of the development deal Lange signed with FOX last year, as the show is on FX. But it may just be a part of the fact that, no matter what he gets into in his personal life, producers know that Artie has a following and can deliver a good performance. Either way, it's good to see him getting more and more work. He just needs to get some sleep and stop being so "sick," as he has been lately.
In our effort to give the public every little bit of Artie Lange news possible, listeners of Howard Stern's Sirius show have been learning over the last few days that he was offered a role on ABC's comedy The Knights of Prosperity, but turned it down.
Which role, you might ask? Well, I'll leave that for you to guess, but here are some clues: Artie told Howard that they were looking for a "New Jersey/New York" guy, with the requisite accent and regular-guy manner. So, either watch tonight's premiere or go to the show's website and figure it out. There seems to be conflicting stories as to why he turned the show down: executive producer Rob Burnett told Howard 100 News that it was due to "scheduling difficulties", but Artie just didn't think the concept was going to fly. Burnett told the Howard 100 folks that he hopes to have Artie on later in the season; maybe the crew will try to rob him instead of him being one of the robbers.
Howard Stern continues his TV talk show tour to promote his Sirius radio show, and last week appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, but not in the same studio as Kimmel. At first it looks like Stern is sitting down in the chair next to Kimmel's desk, but you quickly realized that Stern is in New York City (Kimmel tapes in L.A.) and is sitting in front of a green screen to make it look like he's with Kimmel. You also figure out what's going on once you see Stern and Kimmel attempt to kiss and they can't quite line up their, um, tongues.
Stern also gives Kimmel a free Sirius Stiletto radio. He did the same thing on Letterman last week. I wonder if Dave and Paul feel cheap now? Video after the jump! (Note: the video also includes a 90 year-old woman having an orgasm.)
