Office actor busted for drugs

Craig Phillip Robinson as Daryl PhilbinSo much for being a role model for children. Craig Phillip Robinson, who plays warehouse foreman Daryl Philbin on The Office was busted for possession of drugs. Actually, he was arrested in June and the felony charges for possessing MDMA, also known as ecstasy, and methamphetamine were just filed.

Ah, drugs and Hollywood. The perfect pair. I don't know how this will affect his standing with NBC, but his character is low-key enough to easily be replaced on the show. On the other hand, celebrities (including minor ones) are caught so much with drugs nowadays it should practically be expected. Perhaps NBC should have had better drug testing.

If you look at his IMDB profile, you'll see that Robinson has been in quite a few movies (most recently Pineapple Express). Given that, I think the only thing this arrest is going to do to his career is strengthen it. He'll do the usual shtick of apologizing and getting community service and then take on larger roles.

The Tudors: Episode 2-09

Jonathan Rhys Meyers(S02E09) "These bloody days have broken my heart. My lust, my youth do them depart. And blind desire of ambitious souls who haste to climb, seeks to revert. And about the throne, the thunder rolls." --Sir Thomas Wyatt (voiceover)

This was a dark episode. As much as I disliked Anne during her ascension to the throne and sided with the steadfast and pious Queen Catherine, I hated seeing Anne's demise come to a head this episode. Somewhere along the way, Anne became the victim on this show. The Tudors, in my opinion, has done a good job of creating a multi-faceted character on the part of Anne Boleyn. Once a villain, she ended up a sacrifice to male-dominated political power play.

Dennis Farina arrested at LAX

Dennis FarinaDennis Farina was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport for carrying a firearm through airport security. The Law and Order star was described as "apologetic and cooperative" about the incident. He was released on a $25,000 bond.

Farina, 64, entered acting after serving as a Chicago police officer for twenty years. He is known for his detective roles in movies such as Get Shorty and Sidewalks of New York and on television most notably as Detective Joe Fontana on Law and Order.

The actor had just driven to Los Angeles from Arizona with his .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in his briefcase. He was scheduled to take a United Airlines flight home to Chicago.

Reality TV show director arrested for false imprisonment

Pauper to PrincessIn a case of reality television going too far, a director has been arrested in Florida for locking half his contestants in the house they were occupying. The show was called Pauper to Princess and its concept was to build eight women's self-esteem and help them grow physically, mentally and spiritually.

The part that I really find amusing is that the excuse the director Marc Brilleman gave for locking the women in the house was "they could not leave because they were being disciplined". Um, disciplined? Is this some sort of sadomasochistic fantasy going on behind these doors? Admittedly I haven't read the contracts, but if they broke the contract by leaving the house, couldn't you just fire and/or not pay them?

Kiefer Sutherland starts 24(x2) day jail sentence

Kiefer SutherlandKiefer Sutherland has reported early for his jail sentence, according to this Yahoo! article. He was sentenced Wednesday for his drunk driving arrest in October, his second in three years. While he could have waited until February 12th to begin his sentence, the Emmy-winning actor instead opted to begin immediately. This may be because he'd rather get it out of the way now while production is halted on 24 due to the strike. I wonder if he and the inmates will sit around and watch old episodes of 24 on prison TV. (Are they allowed to watch Prison Break in prison?)

Charges dropped against Dog the Bounty Hunter

dog the bounty hunterThis week, the First Criminal Court in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico dismissed charges against Duane "Dog" Chapman, who was arrested in 2003 on charges of illegal detention after capturing Max Factor heir Andrew Luster. The arrest eventually led to the A&E series Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Last September, Mexican authorities requested Chapman, his son Leland and his work partner Tim Chapman (no relation) be extradited to Mexico to face charges of leaving the country instead of staying for their court date. Chapman has said in interviews that they left the country on the advice of their legal counsel.

HBO chairman Albrecht steps down after assault arrest

Chris AlbrechtAfter being arrested in Las Vegas last weekend, accused of assaulting his girlfriend, HBO chairman and CEO has decided to step down from his position.

Of course, that's what Time Warner, HBO's (and our) parent company, said in a statement. But according to a statement from Albrecht, the resignation was tendered at the request of his TW bosses. Right after the incident happened, Albrecht was supposed to take a leave of absence so he can continue alcohol treatments and work with AA that he had discontinued, but other incidents involving assaults against women were revealed, prompting TW to ask for the executive's resignation.

The network's COO, Bill Nelson, will assume Albrecht's duties on an interim basis until a successor is found. Albrecht had been with the network since 1985.

Brothers and Sisters: Valentine's Day Massacre

sally field(S01E14) I continue to like Brothers and Sisters more and more every week. And one of my favorite things is the fact that the writers constantly give Rob Lowe lines that reference his famous past.

Case against Dog the bounty hunter halted for now

dog the bounty hunterThe Mexican federal government has halted their case against Duane "Dog" Chapman until more evidence and witness testimonies can be collected. Chapman, star of the popular A&E series Dog the Bounty Hunter, was arrested by Mexican authorities in 2003 after apprehending Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, who was later convicted of rape and sentenced to prison. Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, but after posting bail Dog headed back to the US with his son Leland and his work partner Tim Chapman on the advice of Dog's lawyer in Mexico, who told the bounty hunter it wasn't necessary to return for a scheduled court hearing. That decision came back to haunt them, however, when federal agents arrested the three men back in September. Since then, they've been awaiting an extradition hearing to determine whether they'll be sent back to Mexico to face charges. Fans of the series, as well as some members of congress, have rallied around the famed bounty hunter. Dog has been under house arrest, but a judge recently allowed his monitoring bracelet to be removed.

Congress weighs in on Dog the Bounty Hunter case

dog the bounty hunterWhile Duane "Dog" Chapman awaits trial to decide if he'll be tried in Mexico after his recent arrest for illegal detention of convicted rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster, twenty-nine members of Congress have asked Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to deny the Mexican government's extradition request to have Chapman sent there for trial. Chapman, along with his son Leland and partner Tim Chapman, were arrested by Mexican authorities for illegal detention after capturing Luster in 2003. The three posted bail but never returned for their court date. Bounty hunting is illegal in Mexico, and Chapman refused to relinquish Luster to the Mexican authorities. Plans to have Chapman extradited to Mexico were put in motion only a few days before the statute of limitations was set to expire.

Beth keeps fans updated on Dog

dog and bethIf you're a fan of bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman and want to stay current about what's been going on with him since his capture last month, A&E has a page on their site where Dog's wife Beth gives fans quick video updates on how Dog is doing, as well as his son Leland and his brother Tim, who were also arrested in connection with the arrest of convicted rapist Andrew Luster in Mexico. I've been trying to follow this since it happened, and not much new news has developed in the last few weeks. Beth's updates reflect this, and she mostly just talks about how everyone is doing emotionally. In that respect, I can only recommend this to those who are diehard fans of the series. People looking for the cold, hard facts aren't going to learn much, at least not at this time.

Dog the Bounty Hunter special tonight

dog the bounty hunterThis evening at 10 pm A&E is airing a one-hour special titled Dog: The Family Speaks. The special will feature exclusive interviews with family members about the recent arrest of Duane "Dog" Chapman, his son Leland and his partner Tim Chapman connected to their arrest of convicted rapist and Max Factor heir Andrew Luster three years ago. Chapman was charged with illegal detention in Mexico after Luster's capture but never returned for his court date after posting bail. US Marshals took the men into custody on Thursday, and currently all three of the men are out on bail and awaiting an extradition hearing to decide if they'll be sent to trial in Mexico.

Update on Dog's situation

The three have had charges pending against them for posting bail but never returning for their court date. A judge has ordered the men to wear monitoring bracelets, not to possess any firearms and to remain in Hawaii until they return to court for extradition hearings which will determine whether they'll go to trial in Mexico. If convicted, Chapman could face six months to four years in prison.

A crowd of supporters gathered at the court house, and A&E filmed the event for the next season of the TV show.

Another arrest: Lost tailies can't drive

adewale akinnuoye-agbaje; mr ekoAdewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who plays Mr. Eko on ABC's Lost, was arrested early Saturday morning in Waikiki, Oahu. Police charged him with disobeying a police officer and driving without a license. He spent six hours in jail before posting $500 bail.

This is the third new cast member to be arrested for traffic violations. Adewale's infractions don't seem as serious as last year's drunken driving arrests of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros. The two actresses played 'Ana Lucia' and 'Libby' up until the season finale when the writers killed the pair off.

I guess Bernard is next. I'm thinking he'll be busted for indecent exposure. Or hit and run, since there seems to be a traffic theme.

Mos Def arrested for VMA performance

mos defMos Def: not exactly a bad ass rapper. Sure... he was arrested in New York City, but it's not for your usual rapper garbage like gun possession (Diddy) or lying about a murder (Lil' Kim). Nope, NYC police cuffed Mos Def for an impromptu performance he gave outside the Radio City Music Hall last Thursday before the MTV VMAs. Apparently he didn't have a permit for the sound system. The cops interrupted a song he was performing about Hurricane Katrina on the back of a flatbed truck outside the awards show. Police kept Mos Def overnight and now he'll have to appear in court.
